I love my blackpowder revolvers;

How do these weapons feel when you fire them, compared to a modern sidearm...do they have a large kick?

no, blackpowder burns slower and they can't be loaded to modern bullet/firearm tolerances.

they 'kick' a little, but it seems softer than a modern pistol recoil...

I'd fucking love a Colt 1851 Navy cartridge conversion.

saw several today at the gunshow - I wonder why you don't see any violent crime at gunshows?

Because the guys who normaly rob people are enabled to simply pickpocket the guys who got boners for weapons, and therefore don't need to become aggressive?

I'd really love to visit at least once some european 'weapon show' (you know with all weapon systems and ony for professionals). The few pictures out of such a 'show' i saw where quite interesting.

It's quite awesome to walk into a gunshow and look over 300 tables of guns with an average of 20-30 firearms per table as well as private owners carrying stuff with them that they want to sell.

It's also great to know that I can buy anything I want that I see.

For 'professionals only' sounds quite hilareous to me - as if military/police citizens should have more rights than the average citizen... :roll:

Sounds indeed awesome.

I didn't mean to differentiate between citiziens, but that's they way these shows are. I meant exactly shows where they don't only seel firearms but also things like tanks and such. It was interesting because of two reasons for me. Firstly because i'm somewhat interested in the technology behind all these things, and otherwise because it looked somewhat surreal - old 80's ads music while screens showed new weapons and how good they are in fighting enemies.
I worded it badly though.

No you didn't - I understood exactly what you meant. In your country, only those the government trusts are allowed to go to these shows.

You see people fall prey to the same mindset here, that somehow a citizen soldier or police officer are somehow imbued with some extra super special powers or skills that allow them to handle, purchase, or use firearms without falling under the evile spell of said firearm, like a weak-minded average citizen would. :roll:

Which is exactly the opposite of the truth. Cops and soldiers usually are poor shots with less than sterling safety practices. One reason why the army doesn't issue ammo until the last possible moment before a battle.

ps - here in america, we can also buy tanks, and cannons and such too...

There is a reason people love AR-15 receivers that are stamped with the "For Law Enforcement and Military use only" bit. It is like a big cock slap in the face of those who do not want such weapons to be in the hands of civilians.

No, it's called marketing...

That is it at as well. I do honestly know people who have bought particular rifles for that reason alone just as a statement because of it being on there. My 6940 has it but that rifle is just beastly otherwise anyways.

So, on my wishlist right now;

Rossi 'ranch hand' a copy of the 'mares' leg' from the flick 'zombieland' or more properly - used by steve mqueen in a western tv show.

henry repeating arms makes a nice mares leg. One in .22lr, one in .45LC, iirc. They're also awesome and based in america, and their factory is about 45 minutes from me.

yeah, there are four manufacturers and the other three want about $1200 instead of $550...

I didn't go lookin' at the price, since I ain't likely to be buying nothin' anytime soon, y'know? I've heard nothin' but positive about henry from my other gun nut friends though.

Henry is a good company and they make a fine product.

Sooner or later I'll get a yellowboy in .44-40 to add to the collection...
