The Guns and Ammo Thread

I once owned a SKS with the original bayonet on it, but the cops took it from me. Bastards.

According to this video of a bunch of arabs screaming etc., Quaddafi had an engraved and gold plated Hi-Power when they killed him.
He always had a boner for FN-H weapons. This shouldn't come as a surprize.

Are you against the EAA Witness. They had a fullsized one in 9mm (polymer frame) for $239.

They also had a stainless steel Luger for $850. I really want a P08 Luger and the stainless ones look cool, but I read that some of them have junk internal parts and they can wear out after 100 rounds (not that I know it to be true)

I really really want to think the EAA Witness is a good gun, because i want one in 10mm - but I've heard nothing but bad things about them on multiple gun forums.

Even the guys who love them go on and on about all the tweaking they have to do to get them to run well. Their customer service is considered the worst in the industry by everybody who has had to deal with them.

So, that stops me from buying a Witness, even though I want one...

About the FN, modified FN FNC used in a Swedish army seems to be pretty solid piece of machinery to me. They call it AK5.

I just looked around. The 10mm witness seems to be the one that is breaking slides but that can be fixed with a larger/stronger spring (according to the forums)

A stainless witness in 10mm would look alot like a Bren Ten wouldnt it?

If I get a witness, I would want conversions in all calibers (and a .41AE conversion as well). Thats kind of why I wanted one.

They talk about replacing several springs and comment about how the magazines have to be tweaked to run as well.

The main argument seems to be which springs do you replace, including the magazine spring and what strength spring do you use?

I vote, I'm not going to buy a gun to spend more money and weeks of trial and error to get it to run right.

What kind of blasphemy is this?

Lugers are not "shooter's guns". They work fine with the right ammo, but longevity is not their forte. Especially if you shoot modern 9x19mm through them, they'll wear out fast.

As a sidearm of an officer, it's fine. But if I were a WW2 german soldier, I'd want a High Power. (or a C96 for shits & giggles, but that would be heavy & impractical as a sidearm)

Tanfoglio makes those and you know, here in the EU they have a very hit or miss reputation. If you buy a Tanfoglio, you might get a gun that is basically the best price/quality you'll ever buy. But at the same time, you might get a lemon that can't even be fixed by the best gunsmith in the country.

For some reason, americans seem to love these Witness, but I find this very odd indeed...

It's usually a love/hate relationship except for the lucky few that get one that works fine out of the box.

Regardless, everyone seems to agree that Tanfoglio has the worst customer service this side of hades.

As much as i like the idea they represent and the look of the gun, I'm going to pass on getting one.

Anyone here have any recommendations for a good laser/light combo for a XDM .40? Getting my concealed carry permit soon and I am looking at different holsters. At some point I do want to get a laser on it and I am trying to plan ahead and find a holster that would accommodate it. So far it is looking like I might have to go custom. Kinda a big gun already, throwing a laser on there is not going to help matters.

Anyone have any experience with Viridians? They seem to be pretty snazzy and I have read some good testimonials. Open to any suggestions though.

Also, for those of you who conceal carry/know a lot about it. Which method of holster do you generally find the most practical/comfortable? A mix between quick access and proper wearing I am sure needs to be achieved. I guessed the size of the XD might play a deciding factor in that one.

I wish you gun nuts posted images of these guns for us noobs...

10mm Witness

I got bored, so here is a video

I'm not sure about the 10mm caliber. Is it easy to find in Wal Mart? I know it's like 25% more expensive than 45acp.

a) they have this thing called the internet, 10mm ammo is a mouse click away. You don't even have to leave the house.

b) it's not more expensive than good .45 ammo at midwayusa.com

I know, I buy ammo from aimsurplus.

"good .45 ammo"

What "good" means? I got 1000 rnds of Aguila for under $300. I think it's good enough.
