The screenshots thread

Very nice job Pixote. I am not a fan of this Melchior stuff and his "magic", but that screenshot looks very atmospherical.

Random screenshot: Having fun walking around and making jokes out of MMO slang. ;P

C'mon people, I want to see screenshots, don't want to be the only one posting. :P
I'm very happy today (that's why I post again ;D ) because I finally got the hang of editing maps or rather mapping in photoshop, later slicing the picture up and importing it to the mapper. This way custom shadows etc. can be made so much easier and unique... Later in mapper, you can set the fine nuances, like desert weed, cars, junk etc.

Here is the picture ( I can't link directly to it , it's almost 3000x3000 pixels big, 2,9mb)

http://www.abload.de/img/mountaincopy1v7lf.jpg

Custom Art is taken from the works of Continuum, myself and some pieces of Fallout of Nevada (the "cliff" transitions from south to north. I'm looking forward to the translation btw :) ). As always, just PM me if you don't want your art used in there and I'll delete it. ;)

Looks good, though i'm guessing it's not finished yet... one obvious thing to add would be one of those half sunken junk cars on the water to give the impression that it fell down the cliff a long time ago. A detail: the yellow paint on the road at the upper intersection doesn't make much sense as it goes too deep into the lane of the upper horizontal road.

Textures (IIRC, + one .obj file) for mountain shit are floating over MR's ftp thingy (IIRC, diffuse + bump, both are seamless). IIRC, they're quite large (too large?) - 2000 x 2000 (?) x 2 (two variants). Talk with MR's team if you want them.

Yeah, this is just the "naked" map where all the sceneries, walls etc will be placed on. It's tiled into 16 smaller pieces I just need to put in mapper and add the "flat" flag to it, later just place everything I want on it etc. Would be really cool if I had some sort of "waterfall" graphic for the western cliff. ;D The paint on the road has been edited, thanks!

Here's some playing around with new weather effects, it's not finished. ;) Watchout, it's a big file, so I can't directly link it in the post: http://www.abload.de/img/ssxk7b5.gif

There are too few frames yet and some are fucked up (incorrect order) but when it's finished it could look good imo. :)

I'm quite satisfied with the ones I already have, but seamless is good - I'll message them. Thanks again for those graphics you shared. ;)

In Fallout, rocks always rock.

Glad to see you got some rocks in your work, Frank.

Hey, where's my Cord Fusion? ;) (j/k)

IIRC this shit is uploaded too. Would be pretty cool to walk inside of it, I think (tonz of tiles!).

I just yesterday implemented it as "click on that door - teleport into another map" ;_; BTW - I wanted to PM you recently, but I was too scared. ;D Wanted to know if you maybe could "make" some graphic/animation for a small "waterfall" or "water's flowing down this cliff on the west down towards the "basin" here". :P Or atleast some tips how to create that, I have learned some tricks or two but I am limited to 2d editing and I think this is beyond my limits... :/

Tomorrow, at this time, here will be a screenshot with Cord Fusion, I promise. ;P

I still think it needs quite a lot work, though. :>

The weather effect and the screenshot are awesome
I often see great stuff here and there but almost always as screenshot and not "in game".
Will be great to incorporate those locations as random encounter or small location in Fallout 2, maybe with a small quest related to them ( not something big, the idea is to add to the atmosphere ).
So for those that don't play full mod conversion to have the oportunaty to experience a small part of this kind of work in a vanilla mod Fallout 2 ( or even better as an option to RP mod ).
That would be great.

Good. I'm really evil person.

On more serious note:

I'm not even trying jump on the mountain related stuff again, because it'll end in nowhere. I simply don't have will power for this kind of huge epic projects anymore. And yes, doing waterfall would require loading stuff into 3d, and modeling (waterfall doesn't hang in the air) + I wasn't happy from mountain I made (this was another reason to abandon it). Doing some quick shit work will end in nowhere too, since I'll start fucking with it to make things right, and as I said I have no will power for it.

Dunno about 2d painting, but maybe this tutorial will help you:

Given that the water is on both sides (of a road), wouldn't some sort of large man-made drain be better than a waterfall?

Weather effect looks nice!

Where's some lovin' for the Fallout 1 Demo? :notworthy:

I remember playing this when it first came out.... I must have played through it at least 30 times :D

Ahhhhh, Good memories.

Wire cutters. They could be used to ruin the power generator, and then you could talk to Lex and get a quest to save the town by repairing the generator you just broke. Sound familiar?

This dialog exchange is CLASSIC Fallout. Love it!

Apparently the demo read all map objects as actual targets, so it made for some funny messages like this.

Gaining HP from food, yum.

And of course, playing Fallout within Fallout. Fucking awesome.

Hi again ! I don't know where to post, so I'll post my little news/question here :

we have started to track the advancement of developping of Olympus demo-version at our site (in the small monitor at top-right). We're planning to release the demo in November, so, if anyone of russian/english speaking community could translate the demo in english - it would be greate. Unfortunately my english level is not enough for correct translations of dialogs, descriptions etc... :(

And, as it's the screenshot thread, here is a screenshot  :

Screenshot looks very nice! (where are those scenery items from?)

However, :x yet again another good looking russian-only mod :x :violent: :wall:

Wow, calm down dude ! :) As I already said, I'm ready to pay for translation in english of full version  But I don't want to pay for translation of 20 dialogue files... So, anyone could translate it ? Dude101, can you help me to find a translator ?

What percentage is you game finished - maybe when its fully complete you can find someone to do the full translation. But can you build both the Russian and English art for the game, art translation is a different thing, and requires the original artwork.

- it's difficult to say smth about percentage... For the full game it's near 30%, and for the demo version - smth about 50% (I don't know how to estimate it). I just know, that the demo shall be available in November, so I try to anticipate and start to search a translator for the demo right now.

It's not too hard to re-render all new interface windows :) Therewith all in-game art is already in english.
