The Ultimate Movie Thread of Ultimate Destiny

Heard so many mixed things about both those movies, going to see them regardless.
The Revenant works as a simple survival/revenge flick. Don't expect a deep narrative or anything, just go with it. It does what it does pretty well, and it's pretty to look at too. It's pretty straightforward. It's simple fun. Pretty sure DiCaprio isn't going to win any oscars, though. Also: disembowelled horses.

I totally didn't see The Hateful Eight, so I can't say anything about that. Still pretty stoked to see it, though.

I could see him winning a sympathy Oscar, it's a joke that he hasn't won one at this point and I'm sure the academy wants everyone to shut up about how he hasn't won the award yet. Hateful Eight's pretty damn fantastic.

I saw "Once Upon a Time In the West" for the third (or was it fifth?) time. The musuc is getting better and better <3

It was actually an accident, my net stopped working for, like, 3 hours @3 AM, and I couldn't sleep...so I remembered couple old , classic movies a friend gave me in 2010 (!) to "educate myself"

I'm sure the many actors who lost their awards due to sympathy oscars will weep at news that you're not making a petition.

That would be awesome. I hope he still lives when that happens.

Edit: oh lawdy lawdy lawd! The Hateful Eight was great! The characters were lovely, the atmosphere was tense, the violence was glorious, and the ending must have been one of the most epic things I have ever witnessed. To me it's pretty clear Tarantino hasn't lost his touch.

I've never wanted to see a woman hang so badly.

Bridge of Spies
Not super awesome. But not bad either. Enjoyable. For some reason, the movie gave me the same feeling like JFK with Kevin Costner. However, JFK is better in my opinion. Maybe because of the pacing. No clue.

Bridge of Spies was good, but in regards to the theme it explores, I would put The Lives of Others above it. Bridge of Spies has too much of this, Americanization present (Spielberg at its best I guess), but beyond the plot and portrayal of European culture, the acting and cinematography was good.

Oh, Bridge of Spies is still on my must see list. I read the Coen brothers wrote the script, so I'm pretty stoked. Also Tom Hanks is always pretty decent.

Boy, I confess. When it comes to the silver screen, ain't nobody do niggers killin' crackers and vice versa, like Tarantino. My hat's off to you, sir-ee.

Morricone is alive?! And he did the original music for Hateful Eight?! Put that in yer pipe and smoke it! Yeehaw!

Fun fact about The Hateful Eight: rare 140 years old guitar has been smashed in one of the scenes. The guy who've smashed it to smithereens didn't know that he's holding real deal exhibit lent from museum, he thought it's just replica as was planned before. The actress was well aware of it, so her reaction is very authentic. Tarantino, you dirty tricker!

I swear I am so fucking sick of this "This video is not available in your country due to GEMA/we-fuck-you-in-the-ass-shit-n-stuff"

I went to watch The Revenant. I really dug the movie, it was pretty brutal and Badass.

And I am as much of a fan of Leonardo DiCaprio as a straight guy can be but.... This shouldn't be the movie he wins the oscar for, he is a great actor but by virtue of the role and the movie itself he couldn't show off too many acting chops, he spends most of it crawling and grunting in pain, it's a great role, don't get me wrong, but it didn't really allow him to show his range. If something the best acting in the movie is from Tom Hardy, I didn't even realized it was him until I saw the guy's face from up close.

Great Movie.

I feel DiCaprio gets cast for screamy/grunty roles mostly anyway. I loved him in The Departed, but since then I've only seen him in screamy/grunty roles. What's up with that?

Also, Tom Hardy rules the shit out of The Revenant. He should have been the lead ffs.

Yeah.... I don't know how the movie could work if the lead is the racist asshole that kills a kid and lets a man to die just because he can't be assed to do his job properly...

That exact reason is why it should work.
