Dude, 'Allo 'Allo was based on French people during the war, which is enough to warrant their whole petty existence, therefore every argument you may or may not make is automatically invalid.
 
So the LEGO movie was good because it defied what everyone thought it was gonna be (some lame light comedy full of references to sell Lego sets) and it actually had a message to give, it was lightning in a bottle.

Naturally this means the Hollywood machine just decided to roll out the 100 conveyor belt Sequels and spin offs which so far have all been light comedies full of references to sell specific Lego sets.
 
Yeah, LEGO Batman was a bit disappointing after the awesomeness that is LEGO Movie. Not bad at any rate, and has great moments, but overall felt kinda meh and forced in between cool parts.

On the other hand, the actual sets that I've seen are for the most part good, so I guess when it comes to a toy department it wasn't bad. The weird thing with LEGO Movie was that accompanying toy sets were nothing to write home about, save for few exceptions. I guess that's just the thing with LEGO, where thematic consistency is one of its strengths vs lots of weird sets with no real connection coming together.

What other sequels are there tho? I've seen Ninjago coming up, but there was a long TV show preceding it, so that's expected I guess.

Indeed. "Everything is awesooooome" vs. "Everything is pretty good, I guess." I still liked it fine but it couldn't hold up to the standards set by Lego movie. I did love the nods to all former Batman movies and Adam West in particular.

I just watched Young Frankenstein for the first time. I think I was a little overhyped on how funny it supposedly is. I mean it is funny and it's cool that they could use the original Frankenstein sets and everything. It's certainly a great hommage/parody and Wilder is a perfect maniac. There's much that I like about it but something is just off for me.
 
I liked Blade Runner 2, if I have any criticism at all, it would be
a bit of a weak ending, tbh. I felt that the story was left too open ended, and with the movie taking its time to tell a good story, I was expecting a bit more resolution from the ending

I'm honestly a bit scared of going to watch it. Blade Runner is my favorite movie, and I don't see how doing a sequel could ever improve it. There's only very few sequels made that are truly worthwhile and Hollywood's sequelitis tends to boil down to adding more action and bigger explosions.

The fact the reviews are "good" paradoxically worry me more, since if they were bad, I could just ignore it all.

But I guess I'll go see it next week or so.

I was in the same position as you - however, I was positively surprised. Blade Runner 2049 is a great film and a worthy sequel. It's not better than the original, and I don't think anything can be, but it is quite close to it. In any case, I encourage you to see it. In 2D, preferably.

I have to remind everyone who plans to see it, that a trio of short films have been released as a sort of "midquel" that serves to connect the dots between the two major films.
Recommended before watching 2049 - this especially goes for the first film, anime by Shinichiro Watanabe (creator of Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo). The other two are directed by Luke Scott, son of Ridley.

It was really nice to see that it was a real movie from a director that clearly loved the original and went out of his way to deliver something that was more than just a cynical cash grab littered with fan wank.

The folks behind the new Star Wars films could learn a thing or two from 2049, but they probably won't because 2049 isn't making money.
 
Too early to tell, but so far it hasn't even made it over half the budget. For a film this size, this isn't good. I guess plans for the third film won't go that smoothly, in a sense that we won't ever see it.

It's also really telling how low the Hollywood mainstream has fallen.

Thor Ragnarok was incredibly dumb and I mean that in the best possible way. Its very Flash Gordon by way Big Trouble in Little China. It also makes better use of the "shared universe" concept than the majority of the other films. It's not the best adaptation of the material so if you're a fan of Thor in the comics or Planet Hulk, you made end up hating it, but as a big dumb self aware action movie, it succeeds where Guardians 2 failed miserably.
