I think Mad Max will be a really good movie they just might not have a huge following.
Why do you think that?
It isn't one of those movies that will bring in the whole crowd. It will probably be R which will be good for the movie, it might bring down the fan base but parents probably wouldn't bring their kids just seeing that it was Mad Max. The other problem is they don't have a Jeremy Renner or Daniel Craig in the movie, nobody will be saying, "Oh, awesome that guy from Bourne Legacy is going to be in a reboot of some movie made a long time ago!" People will more likely see the trailer and say, "That looks kind of cool but a little weird." Then again if the trailer is totally bad ass and the movie has plenty of money and advertising behind it everybody will want to go. I am sure the movie will be enjoyable and great, I just don't think it will be a block buster film people will probably be tired of reboots and remakes by then. So far the only good one was 21 Jumpstreet.

With a budget of $100 million, it actually does sound like one of those movies that will try to bring the whole crowd and try to be a blockbuster.

It very well could but it depends on when it releases, how it aproaches the audience, and how well known it is pre release. The original was made for $380,000 and it did well enough for a reboot 30 years later, but thats the problem it is a reboot. I just saw Total Recall and the movie wasn't very good, but it had 125 million in budget. If they play their cards well maybe get some advertisement up soon people will start getting antsy and want to see the movie. I know I want to, and all I have seen is an IMDb page.

There's tons of up-to-date production info for Mad Max: Fury Road at this forum. http://madmaxmovies.com/forum/
Lots of pictures are leaking out on an almost daily basis. George Miller (the co-creator and director of the original trilogy) is filming 2 movies back to back with another slated if the first two are a success. There's Mad Max: Fury Road, Mad Max: Furiosa, and an unnamed third.

Awesome, thanks a bunch for the info. I didn't even know they were going to make more than one, I haven't even seen pictures.

Watched Brave recently, and, well, the Sushi in the theatre is prety good surprinsingly.
Yeah Brave was a pointless mess suitable only for children. I was skeptical of this one from the start because the spunky, soulless, ginger, feminist, rough-and-tumble, tomboy heroine had the putrid stink of a Disney marketing puppet. If they've finally infiltrated Pixar and murdered it's heart they'll probably never make another good movie. I could be overreacting though.

Mad Max should be awesome.
I find your lack of pessimism disturbing.

I hope you're right but it's more likely to be yet another cash-in-on-name-recognition scam.

A budget of $100 million isn't considered big by any means anymore. Battleship had a budget of $220 million and not only did it not bring in any crowds, it stunk like kilus's underpants.

I watched 'Bronson' last night on netflix and Tom Hardy was incredible as a man who seemed to gain strength from the cage they tried to keep him in. That was a very disturbing movie and the acting by Hardy was a tour de force.

Now I have to watch everything else he has done...

Not sure about this movie...I wonder how much of a role Bowser and Dr. Robotnik will have...

By any means?
No, we're definitely not quite there yet. Battleship may have cost over $200 million but Prometheus cost $130 and Rise of The PTA was like 90. A hundred is not the biggest budget certainly but it's definitely up there, especially if a director knows what he's doing. Hellboy II was visually impressive and it was like 60 bucks.

Lets just hope we don't get another Beyond Thunderdome. That movie could have been so much better

I'm referring to how the industry refers to what is a big budget film. Not what the movie-going public perceives. That number is $150 million plus. $100 million is considered a standard budget. Less than $100 million is considered low budget. Less than $50 million is considered sub-standard budget.

It's how they determine contracts with the union and what rates are payed to employees and what benefits they can expect to receive.

Sorry if I didn't make myself clear.

This leaked out yesterday from the Namibia set:

uSOgc.jpg

They built around six V8 Interceptors. 2 are the more traditional "Black on black" versions we saw in Road Warrior and the original Mad Max. 4 are the bare metal versions modified for off-road. Supposedly Max starts off with the classic style and the car changes as the movie timeline progresses.

If the new Mad Max is more like 2 and less like 3 I'll be satisfied. I need some messed up 70s muscle cars to keep me happy.

It looks like this truck will make an appearance.

Go to the madmaxmovies.com forum and you'll find almost real time updates going on. They've been filming Fury Road in Namibia, Africa for weeks now. It's weird after all these years thinking that literally today they are filming a new Mad Max and without Mel. They're not scouting for locations or doing other preliminary work. Tom Hardy and Charleze Theron are there at this moment with over 200 custom vehicles on a set the size of a small country.
