I don't know about Morrowind (never got around to playing it) but with Oblivion, "Fallout" 3, and Skyrim, Bethesda (albeit with different development teams) has repeatedly shown their unwillingness or inability (whichever) to create a proper RPG that is actually interesting to me. Therefore, why expect more from their next title?
I seriously don't get the people who are in this thread just to say that they don't care about Fallout 4.
Fair enough, we get your point, Bethesda can't do a proper Fallout sequel or any RPG at all, whatever.
I don't care about an Assassin's Creed sequel either (just to name a game), but it's not like I'm posting on the Assassin's Creed Sequel topic everyday, if you know what I mean.
You don't get it, they must show everyone how pissed they are and all the hate they have towards Bethesda.
Where as you must show your love and defend them?
Honestly, if Bethesda felt threatened they would defend themselves, no need for the fans to form the first line of defence.
Some of the reasons why we, or at least I am pissed off is that we always get a load of people who not just like Fallout 3 and Bethesda but fucking adore it, and then keep telling the older fans that they live in the past, that the values of the old games were good for their time but that Fallout needed to 'evolve' (to their tastes specifically), and that a shift from genuine Role Playing to 'Instant Gratification and average FPS' is a good thing.
Do remember that it were the old fans who kept the flame alive, before Bethesda bought the Fallout franchise and made Fallout 3 you most likely never gave a shit about the franchise to begin with.
We don't have any fucking information about the game, man, it isn't even officialy announced yet, so any statement about its quality is stupid. I will hate bethesda more than you if the game ends being the same as FO3, but for now, I must wait and see.
Well if fallout 4 means that we get another obsidian spinoff then I'll be happy, if not, then sad. I was also hoping for an obsidian skyrim spinoff but doesn't seem likely either at this stage.
Aren't you the guy who jumped at a possible use of IDtech and its inadequacy of delivering open worlds? Which, I have to add, is quite hilarious as the engine in general doesn't say much about the possibilities of open worlds, and IDtech has already been shown to have been put to good use in an open world.
Dude, com on, they have been sticking to their formula since pretty much Morrowind, and it is a very succesfull formula.
Why should we expect anything else then what we have seen with Oblivion, F3 and Skyrim? Thats what the guys at Beth do, thats what Todd Howard is doing who is runing the show there. And he made it more then once clear what kind of games he likes to make. What ever if you believe that F4 will be a bad game or not, thats of course a different question. But I dont think that its wrong to assume that F4 will give you more of the same.
I'm glad to see a bunch of pragmatists expressing their expectations. That's what those hoax threads are for, isn't it?
Reading through these last few pages of relatively boring, we've-seen-it-all discussions, I've realised valcik's grammar is way beyond 27%.
And I think GarouxBloodline's sig is by Stanislaw Lem. In its original form. Or something.
Also, any news regarding this whole thing?
Lets just hope Beth has learned the lesson from FoNV because it was clearly better, for classic fallout gamers as well as for fallout 3 fanboys.
& dont let three dog troll you all, if hes still there, just turn off the goddamn shitty pipboy radio.
At least they were considerate enough to let you murder him
Personally I think the limitations of full voice acting are going to keep RPGs from being as good as they were in the 90s for a long, long time.
I completely agree. IMO this and the pursuit of the best high res graphics for full 3D cranks up the costs, and place limitation on content and development schedule. Making it very hard for smaller developers who want to focus on dialogues and more mature themes, not to be dismissed on the spot as "outdated".
Why, thank you! I'll update my journal.
I mean its BETTER, not very good ahah . at least they tried to put back some good elements from the first 2. Its probably more canon than any other fallout that has been made since fo2 (remember Fotactics ?? wtf ?? FoBoS ???)
