Things you *aren't* pleased to see

Only thing probably is that it's too Fallout 3-ish and seems a bit repetitive. Looking at the pictures, it hasn't much changed but it's going to be good.

what do I disslike most ? The roman references ... its ... just ... to much for me. I dont mind a few names and the one or other visible stuff here and there. But it just feels way to luzly for me and that directly goes with the way how Vegas looks ... way toclean, way to much neon lights. I would have liked it more with a waste-land kinf of feeling. Comparable with barter town from Mad Max 3. But thats just my oppinion.

Well, I can live with the "clean" look of New Vegas, it was supposed to be spared from the bombs. I dislike that the wasteland seems to be overcrowded again, cars explode in mushroomclouds and that it's going to be a shitty console-port again. I'm sick of controller-optimized UIs.

I don't mind the Vegas thing in itself so much, I think it'll provide a nice change of pace (with a hopefully interesting backstory).

But a lot of stuff in the setting bothers me quite. Stuff like the Kings is just retarded I think. While I enjoy the idea of having a hierarchy like ancient Rome, the Legion looks silly as hell visually speaking.

Silly things setting-wise is my main concern.

I think the entire concept hangs on the personality and history of Cesar himself. Is it believable that he would enforce these things?

I mean its not the first time in history that stuff like this would happen.

But not from "time" and "apocalypse". You know it already bothered me pretty much in F2 with New Reno and the "gangsta setting". No issue with a big settlement, I would expect that anyway. But just curious, what is in Vegas ? Isnt it in the midle of the desert ? Is there some huge water source ? If not ... then it makes even less ense. And THAT is exactly what bothers me with many games today. Its not realism. It is verisimiltude they expect way to often from you to take things as granted, as "there" cause its a game and cause its lulzy ~ like exploding cars. I doubt there are huge factories and workers around which help to keep the streets and buildings in runing conditions or help with the many neon lights. With vault City in F2 one can always assume that it are from the vault with high technology. But I doubt Vegas will have even such things as background.

But letz wait and see.

Although I agree with you about how clean it is (and about New Reno, of course), I do think that after a long enough time period settlements would start back up. NCR does make sense, I think, and there is supposed to be a vault (21) directly under Vegas, iirc. They could have used the GECK from there to maintain Vegas and keep it running, or even hooked everything up to the vault's power supplies, etc, which is something that Vault City did.

Why o why couldnt they be arsed to update the pipboy/ui, they've ripped off plenty of FO3 addons, but not DarnUI?

you know that New vegas has its own vault right?

and if that is not enought they have the hoover dam

I thought they only had Latin names like Vulpes Inculta. Do they actually speak to each other in 100% Latin? Just Latin names would actually make sense.

As far as I've seen they use random Latin but mostly they just speak English. So you'll see people saying 'Ave true to Caesar' and things like that.

One of the things I am not sure about is the idea that the NCR now has vertibirds.

I didn't mind the idea that the NCR had trains or a number of cars, buses, trucks etc, but a vertibird seems stretching it a little to far.
They only appeared in service after the Great War and only the Enclave were able to manufacture and maintain them because of their manufacturing centers.

I can even imagine the BOS being able to capture a couple from Navaro but the NCR.

Okay, not that much of a difference, but if it had been a repaired helicopter I could somewhat come into that.

Also the name; Bear Force One, I could swear that that was a German video clip/song from a decade back.

Well considering NCR has a good industrial base it's not far fetched to believe they can construct aircraft, but I agree it would have been better to give them helicopters and maybe something like a c130 transport plane. But I think we all know the real reason why they have them, the devs saved time by not having to model a new aircraft.

While it has indeed been mentioned that the NCR has an industrial base I do not think its up to par with that of the Pre War world.

I myself always had more the impression that a lot of their goods and machines are what they managed to salvage and repair, not manufactured new.
