Torment Kickstarter goes live

I only mind against people driving their own limos which they did not deserve. It happens in the majority of cases that we know of.

I dunno what you're talking about, but the stretch limo companies around here rent as low as $15 per hour.

Brian Fargo has white teeth, he doesn't need Kickstarter money. QED.

Just to be clear, they got $1.6m in the first 24 hours yes?

Wait a minute. What's with the Oddity Collector Tier? There is now a $125 Oddity Collector 2 tier and also a $135 Unlimited Oddity Collector tier. So the longer I wait to decide if I can afford that tier, the more expensive it gets? Were those up there before? Because if not, this sounds kind of greedy to me. I'm definitely sticking with the $20 tier now. Not going to reward this kind of thing. Sorry, Torment team. >_<

The Oddity Collector tier started with a limited $95 tier, and a limited $110 tier. And they added the other two once those sold out.

Yes, that's a little...evil? Capitalist? But it's also effective.

If they had put up Oddity Collector 2 tier at also $110 and then the unlimited one at $125 I'd have less of a problem with this. But increasing it 10-15 bucks for each additional tier? That's pure greed, IMO.

To use the Wasteland 2 tiers as an example: the Collector's Edition of Wasteland 2 was $100 and was unlimited and came with more stuff than the Oddity Collector tier does. That just rubs me the wrong way. *shrug*

Well I think rewards are stupid to begin with. It creates another layer of logistics the team has to deal with. Copy of the game, nod in the credits, satisfaction of helping to make something exist that otherwise would'nt should be enough for anyone, unless you are a really hard core collector and display this stuff on your walls.

I think the tiered pricing is their way of rewarding the early backers. They just badly underestimated the level of interest in the project, I think. As a result, the lower priced tiers filled up way too quickly -- I never even had a shot at the $20 level -- and so the higher prices on the same package end up feeling kind of arbitrary instead of acting as an enticement. I don't believe greed is driving their tier decisions.

did you just ... described Fargoes better half as whore :o

No, he is just wise enough to know that marrying is the most expensive way of getting free sex.

Think there will be enough tomb stones?

Looked through the various tiers and counted 3000 tomb stones with backer's names, plus 874 "Names and Epitaphs in the Valley of Dead Heroes"....with there be an entire graveyard planet?

I've played lots of video games and don't think I've ever seen 3,000 graves in a game, though "Zombie Ate My Neighbors" might have reached triple digits.

Honestly seems like they now have 2 options: clutter up the entire game with tons & tons of graves all over, or make a useless side area nobody goes to with an enormous tribute to Kickstartering backers fascination with dead avatars.

And then the poor people who payed for their name to be on a grave....to click on hundreds and hundreds of graves to find the one little grey blob that says "Rick James" when you click it? I'd probably give up and never find my name anyway. Think they'd been better off just putting the names in the credits.
