Trump wins

Either way, USSR had their chance at re-conquest, and they failed. They are welcome to try again any time, but they will have to deal with things as they are. Finland aren't even in NATO, they're sitting ducks. So what exactly is holding Russia back? Well, reality, most likely. Finland has an exceptionally large manpower pool of reserve forces, and have landmined the hell out of their borders.
Again, it's a power game, and Finland - using whatever means - out-powered USSR/Russia

As a neighbor, a "brother-folk" and a general supporter of under-dogs, I'm sorry, but you're not gonna see much other than support for them, from me :D
Unfortunately I don't expect the Russian Federation to attempt to retake it, nor would I want them to. I'd rather see the rise of a pro-Russia party, which may seem out-there but with the rise of nationalism and distrust of the US... if things go bad enough it could happen. It's a pip dream though.

Call me a hippie, but I'd like to see some Europe-Russia cooperation for a damn change. There has always been nothing but opposition, exept for that small window of Red Army wave through the German Reich, everyone going "go Russia! :o" but only untill it was over, then Ze WALL came up, goddamn, and we were so close to shaking hands

Yeah well, for the hundred years of a unified Russia, we've always been the outsiders, the barbarians outside the gates. Kind of hard to go back when that was our history, especially since we came up the ladder in the 2oth century.

Any Norway wasn't? For the entirety of the Roman Empire, Scandinavia was "an island" with vaguely named hostile tribes - it was even recommended not to even go near
Then in the high middle ages, when *you guys* were building empires, Norway was still just a hub of pirates, through the eyes of the rest of the world
We were then a colony of Denmark and/or Sweden up untill a hundred years ago

Now we're famous :D Come to our skiing resorts, try some reindeer steak!

I know that the hostility between Russia and Europe is a two way street, I'm not blaming Russia. I'd just like to see relations improve, it would benefit everybody...

Norway was, but Sweden and Denmark definitely not. Yeah me too, I'd love to see the end of the Cold War but not until Russia gets their dues.

What war? The Russo-Finnish war?

World War 2. One great grandfather fought against fascism and the other was wounded by a fascist regime.

Coming from this standpoint I can see why some people would still get offended over Nazi talk or whatnot.

Ohhh... I also had relations who fought in World War 2. It's hard not to, especially since the war consumed the interests and duties of many Soviet citizens.

Yeah, heard shit sucked over on the Eastern Front. We still lost a lot of people during our Island Hopping campaigns.

It was pretty bad, though one of my grandparents was lucky. He was a pilot, which was marginally better. Apparently a friend of his was shot down, found by a Soviet patrol and promptly put into the army. It's one of the things I liked about Harry Turtledove's 'Early War' series, where the same thing happened to a pilot, though with different results.

Damn, the one who was wounded was directly involved in the thing that sparked America to enter the war itself. Other one was involved in Okinawa iirc. Must've been shit on either end hearing from all the sources.

Wow, he was in Pearl Harbour? My other grandparent was Tankist (Tank-keest), who didn't fight in Kursk, but fought to protect the oil fields of Baku. Heh, from the Urals to the Caucasus and Ukraine.

My grandpa was a young teen, and didn't fight. He told me about the hanged Yugoslavs with their elongated bodies, on display in his neighborhood (theres a military camp there, which remained army storage area up untill only a few years back. Bunkers remain still). When the war ended, Yugo prisoners of war raided the pantries, and handed out sweets to the local kids, as a celebratory gesture.
With a friend, just a year or two back, exploring the possibilities of a short cut through a small forested area, while high, came across a monument, surrounded by trees, out of view, where 30 Yugoslav POWs had been executed, after digging their own grave. We left a couple of cigs there, as an "offering" of sorts, and felt a deep sense of respect and sadness for these men, so far from their homes.

A great grandfather, however, worked in resistance. Dunno what he did, but it was serious enough that he fled to Sweden, in hot pursuit, skiing over the mountains. A companion of him was shot as they fled, and he himself dug himself down in the snow to escape. He was dug out by Swedish border patrols, and taken to safety.

Yeah he was wounded in Pearl Harbor, it was really severe too. I actually forgot his name but we have his Purple Heart somewhere I think.

It's pretty interesting to dig through old records and everything, I mean Hell we didn't even know the other grandfather received a medal until he died.

Unfortunately we don't know that much because you know, the Soviet Union was really messed up in the war and a lot of records were lost.

At least you have some records do go off of, right? I mean I suppose that's enough.

Yeah, like what career they served, where they served, what battles they took part in, what unit... oh and the little time we had with them.

It sounds like a lot, but ehh, there are gaps. We only really know the specifics of the start of the war, when they first joined up. The rest is anecdotes and some evidence. I guess we never really looked hard enough as well.

My trump thread is better.

It truly is pure insanity what is going on at the moment I feel like some old cunt because the world has changed so much. A very small part of me is sad Hillary lost because I would have loved to have seen the reaction of the left when America went to war with Russia, also on that I always wondered if it would be effective to have trans people on the front line because you know most Russia's hate gays almost like a phobia.....are trans gay? I guess that's another question either way I reckon it would have been very effective at killing Russian morale.

Where was I? Ok yes to my point I look at the current elections like Star Wars. I find that the Republicans are the Jedi and Hillary is Palatine.

COME ON YOU HAVE TO SEE IT!

hahahaha had no idea.

I guess the new Star Wars is revenge for the black genocide in the prequels and lando calrissian being the only black dude in the originals. When I think about it George Lucas is a racist who honestly put black guys in white body armour and why white that shit would be hard to clean unless they had some amazing self cleaning stuff on it, plus white doesn't make any tactical sense.

I couldn't care less about the female lead and our diverse team of heroes, I mean they still haven't crossed the fat chick line yet but sure it's only a matter of time before we see melissa mccarthy in some sort of Jabba the hut backstory.
