Trump wins

I smell a cheap way to cop out and ignore everything Trump does cause he's supported by a bunch of evil commies.

One doesn't cancel out the other. Trump can have legitimately won, and also be supported by the guys who openly want to be in bed with him. Which wouldn't surprise me in the least, albeit it's definitely not the #1 reason Clinton lost.

It's probably the last thing on a laundry list of reasons as to why Clinton lost the election.

Did Russia really tried to help Trump win? I think this is bullshit unless proof appears (and I don't even like Trump, or Hillary for that matter).

I think if there is even a shred of suspicion behind it, it should be investigated.

It probably isn't true, but an investigation should be done anyway, because that is a serious accusation, and if he's got nothing to fear, he has nothing to hide.

Probably, but it's a pretty serious accusation nevertheless, and a foreign power intervening in the US's elections in such a way would definitely elicit a strong reaction no matter what the actual impact. There's no way any government should tolerate such a blatant violation of its sovereignty, if it is true.

But I doubt Trump and the Kremlin actually cooperated on this if it ends up being a thing. He's not anywhere near dumb enough to do that. This would simply be Moscow sending out whatever dirty laundry they can find on Clinton, and ignoring what they could find on Trump.

Aren't they just refering to "kremlintroll" subversion though? This kind of propaganda play has existed forever, but with internet it is very easy to perform. "Fake news" is part of it, but also impersonations, as in, kremlintrolls pretending to be ordinary people - even Americans, voicing very "orchestrated" opinions

This is something that allready happens, in all scales, in a lot of venues, international, national, official, unofficial, etc
I don't think Russia has "hacked" anything, like, cracking passwords or anything like that, and I don't think they're saying that in particular, except media lately loves the word "hack" cus it's very WWW.

I haven't paid all that close attention to it anyway, but this kind of subversion attempt is not unthinkable at all.

If it's just the 'kremlintroll' (I do like that word) than it's fine, as that's extremely common and used in almost every form of a nation's media.

Exactly.
I see it as obvious that they would spend every waking hour trying to manipulate everyone they can, according to a scale of priority of course. USA would be up there, and Facebook, Twitter are excellent channels to pump out non stop influence.

Hell, it's not inconceivable that Hillary used it, Trump used it and even Sanders used it.

Used? The internet?
What I mean is that a country such as Russia would seize the oportunity to influence anyone they can, using the internet. I don't think Russia would do this as some kind of favor to Trump or Hillary or whoever, but to serve themselves as best they can. Anything to give a long term edge

America does it too, it goes without saying. America also has movie and tv industry, which litterally spell out "current global policy" to its allies on a non-stop basis

No, getting people to give their 'deep and personal opinions' on the matter when it's all been orchestrated.

Oh, very likely, again, anything in their power to win that edge. No "hacking" required.
Of course, Russia - as a country - has much more capacity than Hillary and her personal crew :D

Another is China, where ... anecdotal information will have it there are entire facilities, with rows of computers, rows of nerds, outright hacking, just day by day, for the Glorious Communist People's Revolutionary Party :D

Hey, give them some space. They're helping give jobs to the poor and needy. How else are they going to get girls without the cool anecdotes of hacking into America's nuclear command and launching some ICBMs to impress the gals?

fingers crossed a new war isn't started and we don't descend into chaos.

If trumps not stupid we wont see a war with Iran. But im wiling to take bets we might see boots on the ground in Syria/Iraq.

What I am curious tho is to see if Putin becomes more ambitious due to the Trump administrations aperantily lax attitude about the Ruskies and makes moves against Georgia, Lithuania and Ukraine.

Pff, he probably has to pretend he works as a janitor or something. I find fascinating the things that serious superpowers can prioritize, just because it's within their ability to do so. I like the pragmatism of it, like "How can we observe the entire internet? Hmmm, there are so many websites that even with 10 000 employees they would have to shift through 300 wepbages a day, you say? Done!"

"curious" is putting it mildly. I used to think "lucky for me" I am part of a strong international alliance, but you seriously never know anymore. Brexit, poof, Russian re-emergence of thirst for dominance - and we border them. Sorry Dr Fallout, but if they start any shit here, we will have to go full Finland on them >:I

I think they create a program for that, and instead aim at stealing state secrets from others. They're not backwards enough to use manual labour on that. Better to automize it and use the brains for something far more productive.

You mean dig the fuck in, using the shitty weather and decimated officer corps?

Yes. We have a standing army of 20 000, and a maximum capacity of maybe 60 000, how else would we stand a fucking chance?
Like the Finns, we will use our terrain as our primary weapon. We will dig the fuck in, UP in the mountains, like the Taliban, except in absolutely freezing conditions, and we will smear bear fat all over ourselves, and we will snipe anything that dares to light a fire!
