the regular gametime sucked bad. the action was in overtime and the penalties. damn those were bad penalties. actually so bad i am wondering if there was any "schiebung" in it (bribery etc).

?
You think it's probable that Croatian players accepted money to lose in the second most prestigious event in football after scoring an apparent winner in the final minutes of the game?

I think it's a lot more likely that they were mentally broken and unlucky in the penalties.

moar probable - yes. unpossible? no. in some games i just SUSPECT that theres something going on, you know?

Nah, not this game, mang. You can't fake emotions like that. You could see very well what was on everyone's mind by just looking at their faces.

Fuck, i wish the Polish team showed the kind of fighting spirit Turks have.

The Swedish players against Russia did act with the sluggish hesitation of people whose families have been vaguely targeted with threats of mafia eradication. Come on, would a prideful gangster nation like Russia spend millions and millions on this project if they were going to leave the outcome up to chance? I submit to you that they would not. Expect the Dutchistanians to come down with a touch of "fatigue" before kickoff...

Whoa Russia is kicking the crap out of Holland.
What happened to the Holland players, they seem like drones, is it part of the Holland mentality when they start losing ?

That was a very good match.

Congrats to the Russian Team, that in my opinion was the best team, today.

As for the Dutch Team, better luck next time. You were not the only good team to leave the Euro too early...

Up until now this is looking like the 2nd placers Euro. Lets see how it goes tomorrow, but I would appreciate a lot more seeing Spain betting Italy, than the other way around!
Lets wait and see, wait and see...

All the favourites are being kicked out.

Typical EC.

I think arrogance finished the Dutch, the Russians played with a lot of passion.

Not really. I mean the Russians had more energy, were fitter, but what killed the Dutch was coaching.

Our coach simply wasn't smart enough, to be blunt. Hiddink came up with a system designed to confuse the system the Netherlands played with against France & Italy. I noticed a bit above that this system had already shown its vulnerabilities and was just waiting for someone to move in with some knowhow.

Hiddink had that knowhow. And van Basten had no reply.

Very deserved win. Purely outcoached, which means the team play went out of the Netherlands, and our top players simply couldn't make a difference.

Reverse my prediction LOL. That was quite unexpected. Wtf were the Dutch doing. Russians clearly deserved the win though.

Oh, I almost forgot:

Fuck the Dutch audience.

For serious. The moment things went even a little bit bad, they all sat and stared as if all was lost. Long before the opening 1-0.

Worst fans ever.

I noticed that even though there was more orange than white visible at the sides, they were awfully quiet.

That was pretty weird. We had the Russian fans outnumbered by 4-1 or so, and for most of the match you just heard the Russians scanting 'Yuri Zhirkov' and other player names and didn't hear the Dutch fans at all, until the Van Nistelrooy goal by the way.

But, well, deserved win by the Russians. They outplayed the Dutch team. They looked fitter and sharper.
In the end what killed us was probably the wings. Zhirkov and the other fullback could constantly come up the wing and managed to prevent Kuijt and Sneijder to remain up front, taking all the danger out of possible counter-attacks.

Midfield was troubling as well, as the Russians put a lot of pressure on the players and constantly managed to conquer the ball.

Van Persie never looked like making a difference, which was suprising. Robben injured as well, and with all the subsitutions gone at the 60 minute mark the Russians had a couple of fresh legs out there as an added advantage.

Also, Van Nistelrooy wasn't as steady on the ball as he was the previous matches. Pavlyuchenko, on the other hand, was.

And, of course, Arshavin cut through the Dutch defense like a hot knife through butter. If Van der Sar hadn't been there it would've been 4-1 for the Russians by full-time.

Oh, and did anyone get the logic of Lubos Michel recalling that yellow card because the ball had gone out of play? If anything, that would make it more of a foul.

Lastly, I'm hoping for a Russia - Turkey final for the hell of it now. And for Russia to win it, obviously.

PS: Hiddink and Rinus Michels basically prove that football players are a bunch of morons. Two of the best coaches ever, and both of them used to teach gym at schools for chidlren with learning disabilities.

Wasn't purely Arshavin's quality, tho'. Pavluchenko shifted position a lot and kept both Mathijssen and Ooijer busy, which means it should have been de Jong's job to bite down on Arshavin. He never really did.

UEFA sent out an explanation, tho' I didn't read it. I hear it's because the linesman said it wasn't a foul (and it wasn't), not because the ball was out.

I'm more curious why he didn't give a penalty the Russians a bit into overtime.

Oh hells no. Russia - Germany all the way. I'd rather see pretty football than the elbow football of Turkey.

Who, I should also note, are the only really ugly team left. As opposed to the last EC, this is one of pretty football.

Which is good.
