Fallout 2 mod Unofficial Fo2 patch thread - problems, reports, suggestions

Hi Phil. I am glad we met just now. It has been a long time since I had the pleasure of comparing a super mutant's size to the height a a nuka cola machine.

It really felt fallouty seeing those two names together.

most importantly, you should know that dynamite has a tendency to always crash a game when placed on a main character and it exploding after leaving town. I can't say specifically what goes on to cause it, but it is likely the scripting is to blame.

edit: i would not be surprised if a super mutant could carry a nuka cola machine on his back.

Unofficial patch update time! The list is getting smaller (and more minor), but there always seems like something left to fix.

As before, DO NOT install this over the Restoration Project, as it already includes my latest patch. I just wanted to remind everyone about this even though the patch installer will refuse to install if it detects that the Restoration Project is already installed.

Enjoy!

Hi!
First of all thanks for this great patch you have created!
While playing I have encountered next issues:
It is no longer possible to stand behind Wallace's locker and take the Day Pass from there.
That’s true, but it is possible to take the Day Pass while standing right in front of the locker’s door. And Wallace does not say anything about it.
Lynette now correctly grants the player citizenship for blowing up the Gecko reactor.
I blew Gecko reactor and came back to Lynette, but she had no dialogue option about Gecko power plant. She had only:
"1. I was hoping I could ask another question"
"2.Nevermind."
That is all. And it seemed that she had been angry at me. But I was not rude to her before.
But when I repair Gecko PP, then she is nice again to me and has her standard dialogue with the option “About the Gecko Power Plant…”
Maybe it’s due my low charisma (3), or speech skill (20), or reputation in VC: antipathy?

P.S. Sorry for my English.

You're right. There were blockers preventing Wallace from properly seeing the player at certain positions around the locker. Fixed in unreleased update.

So, the description of that fix is completely wrong. Blowing up the powerplant will piss Lynette off. However, repairing the powerplant and telling her you did this will now grant you citizenship. Due to a bug, this wasn't possible before. I've corrected the fix description in the unreleased update.

Minor update to the unofficial patch to coincide with the RP 2.1.1 update.

Hi again!
Unofficial Patch v 1.02.26.
There are two Karls in Modok.

After telling Karl about events in Modoc and Ghost Farm (good path), he appears on the Main Street in two incarnations: Karl#1 stands near Balthas’ house; Karl#2 stands near the church.

Best regards, Madrock.

indeed but at least try the newest one to be really sure of it, did you read the newest patch changelog to be sure it's not fixed? and it's not convenient to quote a work from the past, you must ALWAYS use the newest patch unless it has a serious bug.

Ok so I installed the game, followed by the latest version of your patch, and finally the High Resolution patch 2.2c. Everything is great, except when I got to San Francisco, both of the stores in chinatown were empty, meaning they had nothing in stock. So I left and waited a few days for a restock, came back and Flying Dragon 8 had restocked the store as per its usual items, but the gun runner, Red 888 Guns never restocks anything except his cash reserve, he never gets any items. Any ideas why? Everything else seems to work perfectly. Sorry if this is a known issue, I looked around but wasn't able to find anything about it.

This has been reported before but I haven't looked into it yet. Could you provide a save game? I know I had requested a save game about this before from another user, but sadly I've lost track of it.

2 things I've noticed with this latest versions as compared to earlier. Actually I had no gameplay issues with v2.0, had to do manual install though, which is propably due to Windows 7.

But now with this new version:

1. Problem solving the Vault Village rat problem.
(I tried to describe it better in RP 2.1 thread)

2. Failure to make ring fights in San Francisco.
I've heard of this problem many times, never happened to me before though. Basically I never enter combat mode automatically when in the ring, also I never get out of the ring no matter what.

Neither of these are game stoppers but annoying anyway. Edit: posted in wrong thread, too tired i guess

Hey guys! I bought a Fallout trilogy bundle (FO, FO2 & FO:T) a couple of weeks ago to play FO and FO2 for the first time.
FO came pre-patched with 1.2 (if I recall correctly) and with a high-res patch. Played it with the provided High-Res executable, finished it without any bugs or troubles, and I loved it.
Today I installed FO2 (which had no high-res patches like the first game), and I get an "Error initializing video mode 640x480". I tried using Fallout2 High Resolution Patch 2.2c (and 2.2b), but it wouldn't work. Next I patched with killap's 1.02.27.1 patch, (and the High Res one) but I still get the same error message. Changing the compatibility mode didn't help, nor did "Run in 640x480 screen res". I even tried deleting Patch000.dat (which I guess was installed with the game). BTW, I'm on XP SP3, but I should try it out on Windows 7 tomorrow.
Any suggestions on how I might fix this?

tl;dr: Error initializing video mode 640x480; What do?

Nevermind, since it's working on Windows 7 in Vista SP2 compatibility mode. Funny...

I'm currently playing through Fallout 2 with the most recent copy of the restoration patch at a revelation of 1280x720. I have gotten to the Raider Base on the map I'm stuck because the map will not scroll over far enough to see the exit grid so I can't leave.

Restoration Project issues don't belong here, this is only for the unofficial patch.

Did you install the resolution patch separately or did you use the version that comes in the RP installer? This would be a map edge issue, but it really shouldn't happen. Then again perhaps something was modified that I'm not aware of. I'll look into it.

I used a separate installer for the resolution patch, however, I believe it was the same version that went with the restoration project.
