Fallout 2 mod Unofficial MIB88 MegaMod Gameplay Help

I wasn't really criticising you as I was unaware of yr situation but I was commenting from my POV only as for me the loot was too overpowered & even when I did Navarro at level 2 and gained all that high level loot I did not use it and abandoned that game at lev 10 as I could not carry it all and I would not use it and I sure as hell was not going to sell it.

HOWEVER, in my current MM game, when I do obtain the adv power armour from Navarro I will return to this encounter ASAP to equip my party members. The laser gatling would be nice but I wonder what happened to the other weapons :(

Lev 20 & I haven't yet been to NCR, Reno, Redding or Broken Hills.
Will be a long game :). WhereTF is Willy? (I know but I cannot find him...first time he had gatlings and I balked at the price)

Loot from that encounter will be a little harder to come by in 2.35. You will need to have high science and repair skills to be able to retrieve all that armor.

Speaking of 2.35, it is ready. I have some work to do to archive it and upload it somewhere, though, as it currently weighs in at about 200 mb, but it will be available for download soon.

The nice thing about the Vorpal Rat cave is that it is actually a location. You can leave and it seems to freeze time. Come back whenever you feel like it and they will still be fighting. (I think :?)

(It would sure be nice if the random cave full of robbers was like that. 15 Combat armors, plasma, pulse, gauss rifles, power fists for everybody!)

@MIB88,
Great news that v2.35 is imminent!

Skeeter & Mr Fixit

I have both science & repair > 100 and have a super toolkit on me plus virtually all of the compnent parts & yet i cannot get Skeeter to teach me how to do it myself. There is NO speechline which opens the possibility.
I really dont need it but for the sake of completeness I would like to have the skills.

How do I do this?
Can anyone advise me?

Addendum: likewise Wooz...throwing 60 Repair/science >100, flares and Super toolkit and booze and still NO speechline which leads to the skill teaching. I must be a masochist as I never use Molotov cocktails anyway :(

Re: Skeeter & Mr Fixit

Skeeter doesn't teach you to upgrade weapons. The possibility to upgrade weapons yourself comes way later than Gecko.

Regarding Wooz, if you want him to teach you something, talk to him about something he really likes, with a certain item(s) in your inventory.

No more hints from me. Not my thing. See the guide from Morticia.

@ Zathras,

MIB88 is referring to a table of skills near the bottom of the guide page. (link below)

Wooz is tricky dialog, but I was able to get him to teach me. Learning to do your own weapon upgrades is even trickier. I was never skilled enough to confirm it, but no one has complained that it doesn't work if you meet the requirements.

Thank You to both of you.

That was all that I wished to know as I was worried about having fouled something up as I am prone to doing far too often for my liking

You better see the guide from Morticia yourself. :P

[spoiler:d60d70d668]Skeeter does teach you to upgrade some weapons. Desert Eagle, 44 Magnum, Hunting Rifle, Assault Rifle, AK-198 and Cattle Prod to be precise. It's just a bit hard to get him to do so.
If you have an upgradeable weapon on you when you deliver the super toolkit, choose the "Really? For free, huh?..." line, then keep going until you get the "Looks shifty. I don't think I want any part of this." line, choose that and then finally you have to pass a repair roll check (skill -30%). Note that you only have one chance to make this right. [/spoiler:d60d70d668]
Anyway, both Skeeter and Wooz works, trust me, I have done it.

Crap. Forgot about those. I was thinking about this one:

I was only thinking of the Skynet computer enhancements/enhancements requiring the disk.[/spoiler:1f069b681e]

Where will you do the upload? I'm looking forward to trying out your mod for the first time.

Any projected date?

I ask as although I am trying to NOT play 2.34
I am succumbing to the temptation and
ANYWAY I just found one of those robber caves
where i sneaked in solo and picked them off one
by one after they killed my entire party in the
first 2 moves of my first attempt..stupid Klint and
Sulik ran at them and didn't last one round
. Took me 4 trips to carry out all of the loot
(12 sets combat armour, 3 Turbo plasma rifles,
2 gauss rifles, 3 pulse rifles & assorted powerfists
etc ..had to use the barter way to overload
Sulik & Klint) & it will kill me to start again esp
as i have all 5 alien blasters.

A pity that I have such a low energy weap skill
and so little ammo for them :(

Does Lenny EVER improve his shooting skills?
He still hits a party member at least once per
action. In addition if your Doctor skills are ~100
he is unnecessary anyway...so he is only really
useful if yrs is <50...oh well, I just had to try
him out for once..I can't wait to enlist Myron
the merciless (whinger that is) :)

Last Q..will the infinite party member mod be in
or, at least, compatible with 2.35 as i have always
wanted to try a large party with all possible useful
NPCs( ie no spouses :)) ?

It will be available when the mods/admins of the sites have a chance to make it available.

The infinite party mod is not compatible. If you replace the scripts in the MM with those in that mod, you will lose out on a lot (EPA, Cassidy being able to use drugs, Vault 14... just to name a few). I have no intention of making it compatible either. If people want an army of party NPCs, then they can get the Cult of Personality perk (which adds more than 'infinite' party members anyway).

OK NP I do understand but IF you are going to give someone like Myron (who is virtually useless usually) an important role it just kills me to drop someone decen t for him as I cannot stand the arrogant little twerp and you do come to like Klint,Sulik, Vic & Cassidy & even lethal Marcus has his virtues.

I also think that you miss the point here..it isn't about game imbalance as my char does virtually all of the killing solo in the hard encounters in all fallouts once past lev 5-10, and i only let the NPCs do it in the easy ones.
It is about COMPANIONSHIP within the game & I enjoy the NPC interactions. That was my point which i clearly illustrated in doing the robber cave solo where i left them outside to survive.

In the endgame in all fallouts I usually finish up solo just to keep them all alive...never succeeded in F1 with Dogmeat though...*sniff*...although running amok in F3 with massed sentrybots (using the roborepair mod) was fun for a day or so,
but i the end I left them all at Bigtown & at the Lincoln memorial to help in their defence.

So, I will try the "Cult of personality" perk.
Thank you for the reply.
Apologies if I sounded in a hurry re 2.35 as we all do appreciate your efforts in the Megamod & I can imagine the fine line it takes to maintain game balance within it.

Question: with Interplay & Bklack Isle studios gone , who gets the receipts for the fallout Trilogy? The creditors?? I still have all the original games but bought the trilogy as backup & was curious.

I also downloaded Wasteland. It might be a great game but ohh those C64 graphics!! Reminds me of the Bard's Tale and the early Ultimas(I>>V)...those were the days!! When i had to play a fan onto the Commodore in Summer to keep it working Sigh!! thank god that some things have improved!!

Ramble over :)

I didn't say anything about game balance. My reason for not adding the Infinite Party mod is because I don't like it (just like I don't like some of the other aspects I have added into the MM and need to fix). That mod allows you to have a large party without 'paying' anything for it. In the case of the MM, having a bad party member for a while in order to get to a new location is the price you pay. (So, I guess if you want to get all existential on me, it is balance I am concerned about, but not the same kind you mention.)

You seem to contradict yourself, though. You say you like the companionship and interactions. And you seem to have strong feelings regarding Myron, albeit negative. Yet, you don't want to interact with him and have him in your party.

Not sure how the whole money/law/intellectual property/royalties thing works.

Well, about size of party - you can get 7 members I guess. 5 normal from charisma/perk + Klint and Meris seems to ignore party limit. But I can tell you, in Navarro, when you want to travel alone, it's pain to tell them all to wait.

Hmm... is there any possibility to make some dialogue speech to tell them all to wait? On the other hand, order to follow you all it might be a problem, because you might have buddies all over the wasteland. But anyway, it would be nice if you could leave/join your group in a one click :)

True, but using that exploit means that you still have to recall them into your party in a certain order (Klint and Meris would have to be last). I'll add this to my bug list. But, if you can get 5 NPCs, then all you have to do is attain a high enough level, because you already meet one of the requirements for Cult of Personality (Charisma of 10, either permanent or temporary).

A dialog option could be added to remove all party members from your group all at once. It would have to be added to all of them, though, and it wouldn't be a simple one-line code in order to account for everybody, but it could be done.

Adding party members back could be done possibly, but it would be tricky. For example, it could be coded to add all NPCs back to your party if they are on the map. I think it could be done. Of course, an extra check would have to be added somewhere to ensure that the NPC was ever added to you party earlier, or else you would b e able to walk onto the Vault City Courtyard map and be able to add Cassidy to your party even if you've never spoken to him.

Well, it isn't really necessary to have charisma 10, you can have only CH6 at start. While you play, you get +2 thanks to Blue Memory Module and Mirror Shades. That's four members, and last fifth can be recruited by Magnetic Personality.

I thought that code could be tricky, because if you'll have to involve all NPCs - that's about 14 conditions. Anyway, it would be a huge upgrade which might be used in every mod.
