Megamod: Is doing the Reno mademan Qs b4 Coldheart better?

I usually go for the quad mademan in Reno..it is hard but still possible at normal in vanilla F2..(never tried it at hard)

As Coldheart seems to have come impact on Reno(does the N2O kill him?) I would prefer to defer this until i have finished all four of their quest lines and then slip the coldheart quests into the final made man scenarios.
 
Megamod: Steve talks but guards no walk

Free prisoner quest...to bribe Steve need speech of 80 at normal and with this and 200$ he duly goes & talks to guards but they do NOT leave the gate with him and so i cannot free him..Bug or me?
 
err sorry but they do not & I have tried 3x.(make that 6x I will reboor and try again...megamod 2.34 only installed on top of clean install)

Even in sneak I receive the warning:" Stay away from there" on first attempt then on the second the guard further from the main gate opens fire. Mind you my snaek is low but then so would be that of the prisoner.
 
"No" is the answer I gather from the lack of replies while the N2O does not kill Salvatore (although if he is oxygen dependent it should but I am just splitting hairs here as in anaesthesia N2O is always used with O2)...IMHO the N2O is wasted.... should use it on the car :D
 
Okay point made and I do not disagree but what I was doing was trying to lock the post out as i had given up on answers.

As for searching for previous posts while I agree that it is theoretically a good idea, in practice it fails miserably as the search engine simply leads you to 47 or whatever number (37-38 in this one)of posts are covered by the megamod discussion and with often 100sec load times (?Thx to IE8..dunno) even with ADSL it can take all night just to search 36 pages which i did last night and fruitlessly.

If this is what I must do with every problem that I find (and i have been playing RPGs for near 30 yrs and have been online for close to 20 yrs) then you can hardly blame me or anyone else for making a new post and asking a question. If this is simply not good enough just PM me and i wont bother posting any questions.

Please note that I am not"spitting the dummy(or soother in the US)" but merely stating my position and probably that of many others here who are new to the Restoration project or the Megamod and who find insoluble problems ingame as there is virtually no where else to find answers.( and i am not premenstrual :D)
 
Have you idea how many times did we have to read about unlimited money in Primitive Tribe or how many times did we have to answer the question "How can I get past first door in Temple of Trials?"? We won't eat you (well, some of us might but... :)) if you put here some question that has been already answered.

If you indeed have read 36 pages of this thread, you must have come across Morticia's Megamog Guide a few times.
There you can find the answer to at least one question you had.
- Plant the laughing gas on Salvatore. 100xp

Just as simple as it sounds. Find a way into see Boss Salvatore, then use steal to plant the laughing gas. If you take his oxygen tank at the same time, then old man Salvatore will soon die laughing.

Check it out, you may find some answers. Also, there's one for Restoration Project too.

then "yes", i have read it and "yes", I have found out the answer which is why I wrote it so as to stop the need for a reply.

Having ploughed through the pages I feel that IFF( ie: "If and only if) I asked numerous questions to show both my laziness and my ignorance then "fair enough" as I saw quite some of this in those pages. But I didn't, I gave up on the prisoner quest when I found it still bugged as in the bug list.

So please do not assume that some of us just run in here at the first sight of a problem without doing any research as I for one certainly did not, whether I am a Rest P or MM newbie or not.

Wahhhhh....spits dummy hehehe...nah its all cool just playing internet tennis :)

Thank You for that one as I hadn't seen it before but I am confused.
Is Killaps' Den Orphan questline part of the MM or the RP as I missed it if it is in the MM so far but as I have to do the Modoc & Coldheart quests after Gecko 2nd visit and hence meztger's mum I will have a look in my MM and see when I return to the Den.

MM is certainly harder than Vanilla F2 and Cassidy seems as useful as Myron so far..Him dying has forced about 5 reloads so far and only in the random encounters..oh well keeps me alert.(ie NOT a whinge ..just a comment :))

The Den Orphanage is not part of Megamod yet.

I don't have a saved game early enough to see what you might be doing wrong with Steve. The dialog is confusing, but somehow it works.

The Salvatore assassination speaks for itself. If you kill him you can't work for him, so you can figure that out.

Don't kill Metzger if you want to finish all of the (working) Cold Hearts quests.

And, meaning no offense against the forum, (everyone here already knows it,) but there are probably 100,000+ topics and posts here and phpBB was never designed to be a search engine for that kind of volume. Enter your topic directly into Google though and there is a 99% probability that the first in the list will bring you exactly where the answer is here.

Also, any additions or suggestions to make the guides better is always appreciated. 8-)

Seriously I am not smart enought to suggest ways of improving the search engine but the google idea is a good one and i shall try it. Thank you for the help about the orphans quest.
If I have problems I will simply check the "bug"list first b4 opening my mouth(metaphorically) here.

3) talk to Steve Speech 80 and bribe him witnthe 200$; 4 steve goes to guards and talks then goes back into building; 5) guards do NOT leave gate; 6) I sneak/walk over to gate and try to lockpick it and on first attempt get a warning and on second they open fire.

For the hell of it, on one occasion I fired back and killed both guards but the Qgiver was also red to me so it was pointless (as it should have been :))

I will just leave it pro temp

Thanks to some assistance from Nirran, the Den orphanage quest has been included in the MM (available in 2.35). There are still some issues, but I hope to release it soon. Just waiting on one thing from someone else regarding party NPCs and I'll release it to the public.

Are there any sequelae from doing this? ie do the ghouls in gecko suffer or do you have more problems with the enclave?

I ask as this is the first time in many, many goes that they actually turned up...bit of a shock & yes I did know that it was in the MM but I had to try it out and I simply want to know whether to continue or go back to the previous save.

(I talked my way out of it...thank god!!...spears and shotguns vs power armour...not good :)...but fun nevertheless....haven't been called a "d*ckhead" for decades :D)

I gather that there are NPs with doing this....anyway after doing it ingame and keeping it I haven't seen hide nor hair of the Enclave...Wimps!!!....I guess my spears and shotguns from the first run scared the cr*p out of them :)
 
VORPAL RAT ENCOUNTER

Hi Folks..your friendly "Pain in the A*se" is back with another dumb question:

am I supposed to hit the Round table Knights part II with the Vorpal rat in the pure MegaMod Fallout 2 or not?

I transferred a save from an old PC to a very new one and I came across this encounter as I swung a low arc from Modoc to the Den.

Unfortunatelly the game crashes always with an application error
although those horrid knights do attack me if the rat is killed and i am yet to reach the cave before death/crash.

But I do have a combat savegame( 1.51MB) (yes i know :)) which I will transfer back to the old win 98 PC to see if it is more stable there. Had no idea that this was implemented and in fact I was thinking of trying to activate it myself after reading Per's guide
( the blind leading the ignorant:)).
 
I think that Vorpal rat is included in MM. I had no problem with Vorpal rat, I let it to kill paladins, I killed the rat and picked power armors, weapons + Holy hand grenade

I transferred it to my old win 98 P3 866 and still found game crashes +++ and the paladins were always red to me and it was a hassle stopping my NPCs from returning fire if hit.

So, I bolted for the car and left the encounter with the rat untouched made another save then returned. After about 5 attempts I managed to reach the cave with an intact party and seized the HHG. I then simply waited out of the way until the rat had killed the last of the paladins and then hoisted the HHG at him and killed him.

HOWEVER at lev 18 with only metal armour 2 on 2 npcs and myself with the bridgekeepers robes the power(Mk II for my char and Mk I for 4 party members) armour unbalances far too much at this level as if I wanted it that much I could have gone to Navarro at lev 2. So I will resume the nearby save and return later....much later.
IMHO this encounter should not be available until you have hit Navarro in the game proper(and not as a lev 2 exercise)
 
Well, when I encountered Vorpal Rat, I had Power Armor + I was using .223 pistol and I had good critical change. I was just firing on rat (my team mates too) till I get that special crit which kills any oponenent regardless of HP, armor and resistance.
