Vampire the Masquerade - Bloodlines 2

I'm pretty sure everyone would prefer that you can just buy everything directly instead of having to basically gamble with lootboxes. And if there's anyone that actually likes them, it's literally because of the dopamine rush you get from opening them and that's addictive.
You're exactly right on that. Some people with gambling addiction histories actually have to avoid certain games due to this. They can't handle the same thrill feeling that video games are now providing.

I play games with lootboxes in them. I've not ever directly bought them. Never have in other games I enjoy either. Hell, in Apex Legends, you can buy skins for about 18 USD and that's WAY TOO MUCH for a First Person perspective game. Why would I buy a skin on my character that I only see the hands of? Sure if it was 3-4 bucks, I might actually buy it directly. But I'll be damned if it's ever above 5 bucks or buying a mass of lootboxes. Fuck all that noise. I buy the battlepass which I bought twice so far. If you complete it, it buys you the next season's. I bought it season 1 and it was bad and I wasn't playing much so I didn't fully finish it. Season 2 was fine and I had fun, and it repaid it's own battlepass so now in Season 3 I didn't have to buy it.

I've spent 20 bucks on the game in total since February and play it a few times a week at least. Others I've met have spent 300+ over the same course of time.

All these delays, the underwhelming gameplay trailers, and now pretty much the main reason why a lot of people could muster any excitement for the game being fired are just a bunch of red flags.

I already didn't cared much at all for this, but it just keeps getting worse.

Well, this game is dead to me now. I pre-ordered the physical PC collector's edition. Sent a message to their customer service requesting a refund. Hopefully I can get a refund. My confidence to pre-order was based solely on Brian's involvement. Without that, my confidence leaves and so does any desire to pre-order.

I sense a lot of pre-order refunds from this. Why do people still pre-order is beyond me since you are paying the most for the worst version of the game.

In retrospect this is not surprising, with how woke VTM has gotten someone was going to be fired for having the wrong opinion one day.

I usually don't pre-order, but for this I did because I love Bloodlines 1 so much and with Brian Mitsoda in charge I had total confidence in the project even if I had some issues with whatever I saw gameplay wise because I know I'd at least get a good story, characters and writing out of it. But without Brian, those expectations are now crushed and there goes any desire to pre-order anymore. I certainly didn't expect Brian to get fired especially when the whole pitch of the game given by Paradox was how important it was to have Brian on the team:

And then they end up firing him. Pretty scummy.

Not only the wrong opinion but they will turn on the last person to the meeting for not being up to date with whatever they have decided. Dead name somebodies gender identity because this week they are a new one that was made up 5 minutes ago? Good luck trying to find a job now you fucking bigot. Raised an eyebrow because Oprah thinks homeless people who are white have more privileges than black millionaire athletes? Strap them to the altar, we need to sacrifice them to the gods of virtue.

Well with Brian Mitsoda gone (Avellone was gone a while back), I have no hopes for this game now.

I guess the hopes for a sequel are dashed again.

You'd be surprised about the turn over rate in the temple of woke. they always needs blood for the sacrifices and no cow is too sacred.
That's fair. It's not like VTMB was very politically correct and he was heavily involved with it.

They don't give a fuck man. They didn't care how good he was anyway. He could have been the best writer/world designer/whatever he's doing in video game history and they wanted him largely so they could say they had him for the sequel and as long as he didn't colossally fuck up his job, he's going to generate sales just by being involved.

Nah, vampires are cool but were over saturated for a good bit in media. So were zombies. Pray we never see such trends again because it dilutes what makes them fun or interesting in the first place.
