Vote for your top 5 changes from fallout 3 to new vegas

1. Isometric view.
2. Turn Based combat.
3. A great implementation of GURPS or a GURPS ripoff.
4. Works on my computer.
5. Full respect for Fallout 1 canon.

Hahaha.

1 - Better story

2 - More side quests

3 - Better soundtrack

4 - More consequences

5 - Harold ruling the world

  • No moar "Oblowind"-like character generation. Old one was good.
More clear HUD, so player always see his HP, AP and other info.
Redo VATS into something more turn-based, or remove it at all.
Kick out morons from studio, don't let them create any dialogues!
No enclave/BOS as key evil/good factions.

1) DIALOGUE/VOICE ACTING NEEDS MAJOR IMPROVEMENT.

2) Better story, although from what I've heard it seems interesting. I just hope it's less Fallout-y like the previous ones that were all like this: Go here, find this, bring back, save day.

3) More consequences for actions, and less black and white morality, more gray areas like blowing up a town full of slavers, but at the same time you kill your best friend and slaves.

3) RETARDED CHARACTER! :P This was probably one of my favorite features from the old games, I miss the ability to say "Nargh, me go now." "You sure room soundproof.... Me no want people to hear screams when me kill you!"(Or something like that.)

5) LARGER MAP!

Now for all the things I want:

I want reputation back. I dislike how when you help one town yet have negative karma in F3 this town hates you, and so do all the other towns.

Sex, sex, sex, we're old enough, you had sex in the last 3 just give us something to let us know we had sex, I mean at least a Mass Effect like scene, anything.

Weather, although on the Vault it says the Great War caused a permanent desert climate I'd still like to see weather.

BETTER ANIMATION, the animation was horrible, and the atmosphere was beautiful in the last game.

Less Mutants/Enclave/BoS please, I'd prefer to have more local problems, and heroes, if not, introduce a NEW enemy/hero, stop beating the dead horse.

Cults, I liked these from the originals, I think they should come back.

The BoS needs to be more like the old games, more of a gray organization than a white.

Less weapon degradation, this was a huge problem in F3 especially with armor like the T-51B Power Armor which couldn't be repaired yet took damage like a bitch, unless you had winterized of course.

Better humor, great humor in the old games, some funny moments in F3 just not HA-HA funny.

POWER ARMOR NEEDS TO BE THE END ALL BEST ARMOR IN THE GAME AND SHOULDN'T BE LYING ON EVERY FUCKING STREET CORNER.

Better science, less plot-holes, and less stupid design.

That about sums it all up, there's more but I feel like I covered most of it.

1. forget harold was in that fallout 3 mess

2. fix the annoying weapon breakdown, armor is fine, but no firearms wear out like that

3. child killing, who DIDNT want to kill those lamplighters?

4. actual slavers, no stupid dizzy gun thing, go out on runs and club people

5. boxing and gambling, i dont think they'll let me down here

i have good faith in Obsidian, they know what to do. and im GLAD they took over

  • NO late 20th century weaponry that stupided Fallout 2. And less heavy weapons/heavy armor that spammed FO3. And just less ammo all around, more rare and precious ammo and more reliance on hth/melee. Get them dirty too.
  • Viable, well designed, populated and organic settlements. And where you can actually lose/forget who you have to talk to, and where you need to talk to more then 2 dudes to move on...
  • Viable, well designed and organic wasteland life, where settlements actually need one another, where they interact in more than just 2-men caravans that do nothing else then sell more guns to the PC. Remember the power plants, water caravans, jet production, gold mines, raider parties, slaving parties that made the world something more than "cool" isolated locations ? Also a bigger map where to get lost and dehydrated and dead.
  • MEAN characters. More choices and consequence, possibility to join the raiders/slavers/... Not just enemies or soldiers serving a greater absolute evil. And BETRAYAL, only such case in FO3 was the Gouls/Tenpenny incident. But judging from the NV game start, I think I have faith ! :p
  • Sex, drugs and rock&roll. Something more than just sleeping next to a prostitute, better drugs system where they're not only magic potions, meaner addictions, no more 15 stimpacks-in-a-row bs.
  • A writer.

Forget (since I only have 5 choices) the classical S.P.E.C.I.A.L., hit points, action points and carrying weight, that was easily modded.

1.) So the original games were less "Fallout"? Pretty much all rpgs have fed-exing quests of some sort. You want someone to do something for you, they want something from you first. Makes sense. Sure 1 and 2 had some of it, but I don't think I really minded much, as I think about it. But those quests don't define a game, unless that's all the game was. F1 and F2 aren't defined by that.

2.) If I remember correctly, sex in F1 and F2 was a fade out/fade in affair. I would think sex scenes are pretty low on most of our lists.

  • Yea, fetching quests are just an inherent part of all vg-rpgs. It gives some meaning to exchanges and "makes" you discover people and places. Simple and effective mechanism ; the only problem, yea, is when the game's all about that...
  • A fade out with maybe a short text/sounds just to acknowledge the act will always be better than just sleeping next to a clothed prostitute. Even GTA:SA had it better than FO3 !
Moreover, sex in Fallout2 had some consequences : fight, forced marriage, becoming a porn star, unlocking a mini-quest. Sure it's not much, but a lot of "not much" makes a deeper and more varied game. And it's always better than just sleeping next to a god damned clothed prostitute. :P

I just don't think that the sex is really that important. When I think F1 and F2, I don't think of it for its sexual content. Yeah, maybe it could have something that effects your character is certain, special situations like you mentioned. But I don't think it's important enough to be in a top five discussion. Maybe if Fallout 3 was already nearly perfect going into New Vegas.

 Of course, on its own it's a minor issue, my point was just to show that sex had some importance in FO2. But a overhaul of all mature themes in FONV would be nice : alcohol, sex and drugs need to be more than just buffs, magic potions and a lame way to waste caps... (which reminds me that caps ought to be gone from the game ! )
In the end it's just a matter of making sense out of the stuff they put in the game...

1. Better...or well, GOOD dialogue

Since if the most believable and funniest piece of dialogue was: "Eating, drinking, farting and screwing, haha!"

Yeaah, I just answered my own question without even asking it. I am your Jesus.

2. Bett...fuck, GOOD story

Douche Howard: "Hmmm... Water chip + G.E.C.K + destroying the Enclave... THAT GIVES ME THE MOST ORIGINAL IDEA EVER:
You need to find the G.E.C.K in order to make clean water (don't know how that works, but meh) and destroy the Enclave (again?) in the process! Now am I ripping someone off? Nah...

3. Advanced character development

Fallout 1 had Harold, Killian, Gizmo, Set, Lou, Master and loads of other believable and interesting characters (with brilliant voice-acting and dialogue!)

Fallout 2 had Harold, Horrigan, Marcus, Dick (hihihi), Drill Sargent (awesome!) and others that I don't remember at the moment

Fallout 3 had... Dukov and Eden... sad...

4. Better atmosphere

Before you start to rant about the outdated engine of F3 and how NV uses the same engine, it's not impossible to create good atmosphere with it. Beth just didn't seem to have enough skills and they decided to use all of their juice on the moment where you step out of the Vault (which was pretty stunning moment imo)

5. Dynamic world

And I'm not talking about some dude scizoing (that's not a word, but it should be) in the radio. It would be cool if you really could see and feel how you change the world with your actions.

Yep, that's my TOP 5. Hope you like it.

1. Better Voice Acting
I was a huge fan of Fallout 3. While I recognize a lot of the flaws, nothing took me out of the game more than the shitty voice-acting. They need actors who can do a higher diversity of voices, people who can do voices for teenagers to young adults, and not just have one old man voice that sounds like an old prospector.

2. Quests Sparking From Other Quests
In Fallout 3, Lucas Simms can possibly die and you have a vacuum of power in Megaton. That should have affected things and created a new side-quest where you helped decide who became the new leader of Megaton. You help Reilly's Rangers and later get a few missions where you actually go on a few missions with them. I'd like to see something like that.

3. More Interactions with Characters and Getting to Know Characters Better
Outside of James, there were never really any characters that I felt my character had a strong connection with. I think this is partially because characters either have rather static dialogue, or only relate to one, or two missions. It be nice to have more dynamic dialogue and interactions with NPCs, especially companions.

4. More Lively and Believable Settlements
I really liked Megaton, but Rivet City was a huge letdown. It would be nice to see agriculture especially outside of livestock which is all we've seen.

5. The Ability to Join Factions and It Mattering
Hopefully the reputation system will help with this. It was a huge letdown in Fallout 3 where you have a whole settlement set-up for the Raiders and you're not able to become one and live there.

1.) Another town similar to Megaton, except this time you'll have multiple ways to blow it up.
2.) More VATS features!!! Vats was a key component of Fallout 3's unique gameplay, let's see more of it!
3.) Bring back the tunnel Snakes (seriously, what's gonna happen to Butch?)
4.) Guns, guns, and more guns.
5.) In-game sex minigame, just like God of War. Fallout needs some mature material.

Man I can't wait for Vegas, hopefully Obsidian won't screw this up.

Haha fuck, I'm sorry but you are the most obvious troll I've ever seen.

Unless that was meant to be a joke, in which case, I laughed.
