Weapons and armors

First time out of the vault
is it just me or is the amount of different weapons and armor low and really kinda boring. its like they ignored every good thing about new vegas and 3. its all about looking good and feeling good and I just don't feel that with this game. like the American assault rifle in fallout 3 in my opinion looked so beautiful that to this i day still wanna buy a cetme rifle.it was mad cool seeing a m16 in newvegas. but now all we got is a freaking ww1 looking water cooled rifle, an early ww2 smg that marines used, and the tommy gun which looks cool but is kinda shit. then there is the armors not much choice with them and the power armor I was hoping for the cool enclave ones from fallout 3 maybe they could be really rare but no. I also remember reading that the t45d used a lot of power but the 51b didn't but that seems to be ignored. whatever... what do yall think?

Yeah, the base weapons and armours seem to be a tad limited. And combat armour looks completely shite.
As for Fallout 3 Enclave power armour, it doesn't seem to be in the game. But there's the "X01" power armour, which is the original Advanced Power Armour MkII from Fallout 2.
The T45d was supposed to run on energy cells while the T51b had an internal fusion reactor lasting centuries. But in Fallout 4 all power armours have the same basic frame, for some reason. I had hoped you'd get different frames with different statistics (like more strength enhancement, higher speed, better "fuel economy" and so on) that you could put the armour parts on. Maybe with necessary modifications to i.e. fit T51 arm parts on a T45 chassis. Well, I guess that's one of the things that mods will fix.

Yea, armors are really disappointing. I'm still wearing a mix of leather and metal armor and I'm something like 30 hours in. Although the leather and some of the metal is of the enhanced version, which covers more of your body. And of course some of my armor is *enchanted* with silly statuses like +1 to char and end and so on. Skyrim with guns ladies and gentlemen!
But different armor versions is actually a neat idea, that you have 3 variants of leather/metal/combat armor with each successive one covering more of your body. Too bad the better ones are a bit of hard to come by from traders, who will have some lower and some better quality, making it harder to get a full set of something better when they still have modded versions of previous generation junk.

When it comes to weapons, once I got the laser rifle from mr. Dense I didn't need much else aside from upgrading it into a devastating sniper rifle.

I'm disappointed that I can't wear pauldrons over a Greaser jacket & jeans. It seems kinda arbitrary what kind of outfit counts as what kind of armour.
Ok, there are the Road Leathers that work with armour pauldrons, but it's still weird that they work but the Greaser jacket doesn't o_O

I tend to not wear armor at all, but this sounds bad. Is it the "Arm" pieces that don't fit? It's fixable with mods of course, but that's hardly an excuse.

The issue is that the armour is composed of basically eight or so areas to cover your body. Torso, left and right legs, left and right arms, mouth, eyes, head.
Some outfits cover more than one area, for example the Greaser jacket. It covers everything but your head, so you can't wear additional armour pieces. Road Leathers look very similar but only count as torso armour, so you can add pauldrons and greaves. That's despite both of them visually covering the same areas.
The female dresses are similar, you can't add pauldrons even though visually the shoulders are bare (could be mistaken, though, I'm not sure right now).
The worst is the gas mask with goggles. It's reasonable that it covers mouth and eyes, but you also can't wear helmets with it because for some reason it covers the entire head. That's just annoying, at least something like the Army Helmet should allow for that gas mask to be worn.
Eh, mods will fix all that glorious 10/10 GOTYness...

Actually, road leathers let you wear all armor parts, chest armor included.
There's also Athletic outfit, which doesn't let you wear leg armor, but upper body is fine.

Ah, yeah, forgot about the chest piece with Road Leathers. Still, seems a bit arbitary.

Yeah, the weapons looks like pure shit. That alone makes me want to go straight back to NV.
yea I wanna go back too but ive beat the shit out of it so many times.

too bad I play on a console and cant mod my game for months to come and by thn ill be moving on to bigger and better things unless thr are even more bodies to add to the "pit of letdown" of "next generation" games, just let down after letdown

Some of NV's weapons were perhaps a bit boring, but honestly it's a lot better then Bethesda's frakenguns. I'd kind of rather devs just copy existing guns then try to make new ones, unless of course they could get whoever designed the guns in Metro 2033 and Last Light

has anyone seen the heavy combat armor I think it looks retarded and I feel like I'm wearing the gears of war armor

Well, better than those tiny, useless plates that are the regular combat armour.

to be fair Hass, motorcylce jackets "greasers" are on the thick side, made to take a fall from a moving motorcycle and not get ripped up etc., that said you can wear combat amror and still enter a PA suit so yeah not sure about that point I just made

Yeah. Some of the designs are certain out there. The heavy machine gun cosplaying as an assault rife is pretty funny. Also, what's up with Combat Armor? It's looks nothing like the previous one. The base model also has nearly worthless plate coverage lol.

They really wanted to make armor parts more diverse without actually making many different armors, so they just split the main 4 types into 3 qualities each and there you go, so many options! I really wonder what took them 5 years to make since most of the stuff they have made is so half-assed. I guess they were still counting money after Skyrim.
Look at guns.
Among regular, common small arms you have:

pipe pistol
pipe revolver (not sure if separate or a version of pipe pistol)
10mm pistol
.44 revolver
assault rifle
combat rifle
hunting rifle
combat shotgun
double-barrel shotgun
submachine gun
institute pistol
laser pistol
laser musket
plasma pistol

And this is pretty much it. Yes, you can turn most of those pistols into rifles and so on, but it's still the same weapon.
Then you get big guns and the rarer toys, but from standard weapons, this is pretty much it. No wonder I got a little bit bored, the selection is really poor.
