What genre is Fallout 4?

Or, you know, Action Adventure.

I always thought Action-Adventure meant games like Tomb Raider or Uncharted. Fairly linear (but not enough to be annoying as with Call of Duty), with a clear sense of narrative progression and occasionally, puzzles. But to be fair, it is the loosest term in the video game marketing.

It's no longer a role-playing game. You can't role-play. That much is objectively clear.

I disagree. I'm on my 5th play through and have distinct flavours to the approach of each protagonist.
To my mind 'Action RPG' suits it well, though genre classifications are ultimately fairly pointless.

It is what it is.

Larping is not role playing though. Just because it happens in your head doesn't mean it's actually real. If you estend the idea of role playing, even action role playing to a game like Fallout 4, you could probably say that Doom 4 is the next RPG released by Bethesda/Zenimax ...

It's not much of an issue but why you use "larping" this way? It's just doesn't match with what you're trying to tell:confused::confused:

My favourite RPG is Hotline Miami because I can choose what weapons and mask to use.

He's not so much referring to the actual definition of LARPing than he is the basic idea. Running around with costumes and pretending you are in character, when all you are doing is fulfilling a power fantasy.

Eh, no clue, I know I know, now that I am thinking about it you're right. I guess simply because "larping" is something that I combine with this:

And THIS is definetly accurate to Fallout 4. Kinda.

There really needs to be some kind of book on official gaming terminology. Change some of the phrases used and the like. Western role-playing games and Japanese role-playing games are very different things, for example.

[Intelligence] So you mean; "playing Fallout 4 as a role playing game is like dressing, talking and walking like something you're not in a most shameful way?"

Pretty accurate actualy.

Well LARPING in games is similar to the real life thing but instead of LARP it's more along the lines of GARP, Game Action Roleplaying.
