What weapons would you guys like to see in F5?

A better, more thought out focus on rail guns and rocket weapons would be good. Neither NV, or FO4 did gauss rifles all that well. Wasted potential. Needs better designs too. Maybe an energy shot gun could be a type of electric weapon that bounces off one enemy to another and has a blowback/staggering effect?
 
I always saw Gauss weapons as America’s defense against stolen or reverse engineered power armor. “Bunker Busters” that could pierce it.
 
Here I was thinking gauss was China's answer to power armour.

We need a railgun that uses frozen mercury as ammunition. The frozen mercury is propelled by the railgun using superconductivity and then when it pierces a target they will also be poisned if they manage to escape without a fatal hit.

Edit: Gauss the rifle not the physicist.

There's also Austrian, Belgian, British and Soviet weapons too. They also had more powerful ammo types than the USA.

Makes sense, because Europe and Middle East have been at war for a much longer time than USA and China by the time the Apocalypse happened. So they would have been researching and manufacturing better weapons and ammo for quite a while longer.
 
Would be a neat way of having weapons in the next Fallout be special if they were Euro variants. Were they more powerful in the energy field as well? Haven't played the first two.
 
To address a point made in the OP and also something I've seen him say a few times.

Personally I don't think there should be a midgame unarmed weapon. The objective of Unarmed should be to remain as close to your bare knuckles as possible - if you start swinging around a mantis gauntlet you're basically just using a melee with awkward posture.

The first two games had a very neat system of scaling your bare Knuckle melee damage done with Unarmed as your skill and level increased, as a way to keep you in the game with new and fancy moves as well as raw power.

I think that was just fallout 2. If I remember correctly, knuckle weapons and power fists were added very late in fallout 1’s development, when they realized that unarmed characters couldn’t keep up with the damage output of other weapons in the late-game, even with critical hits.
 
Unarmed is unrealistic, largely. Unless we're talking power armour. Unarmed for sneak attacks, or story moments. I wouldn't really focus on making it a viable option for situations outside of that. Especially when you consider the kind of world Fallout is and then see how dangerous unarmed is in our world. Humans are smooth with no sharp edges, or claws and fights are still dagerous. Fallout on the other hand....
