What's your MBTI?

Yet another INTP here, which is superficially accurate. I'm pretty close to riding the line on the qualifiers, though:

Perceiving (P) 59.46% Judging (J) 40.54%

I do have to point out that there may be a bit of selection bias at work here, though-- the kinds of people who hang out on internet forums and have any sort of interest in taking these tests and sharing the results tend overwhelmingly, in my experience, to fall within a narrow range of Jungian descriptors. Anytime I've seen a test thread like this, it's produced Architects and Masterminds agogo, with the "I" replaced with an "E" over most of the remainder of the field.

Yeah, but seeing large parts of my personality laid out in front of me so casually does make me a bit uncomfortable.

That's why I find it so interesting. For many INTP's a search for the Truth is very important, and voicing "findings" equally so. MBTI gives an INTP a tool to quite accurately describe the Truth of who he is, or how he can be described compared to others.

I've used this test on friends, yielding a lot of different types. I concur they're generally not the forum types (at least not my kind of fora), and even if they were, I don't see them being drawn to take this kind of test out of curiosity. xNTx's are just more interested in / patient enough for this test.

Hm. For me personally, it wasn't really a "oh my, am i really such a depressing and alienated person?" moment, more of a "i really didn't want to set those bricks loose" moment. I pretty much know who and what i am, becoming "me" was a conscious and premeditated process that took many years to complete. I replaced a path of self-destruction with one of indifference and cold hatred.

What i really found disturbing about this was seeing the contrast clearly between the man i thought i could be and the man i actually am. Life can be funny that way, i suppose. Took an internet test to make me see it vividly.

ISTP - "Engineer". Values freedom of action and following interests and impulses. Independent, concise in speech, master of tools. 5.4% of total population

Good thing im studying to be an engineer then...

:)

INFP. Perfectionist. Highly artistic. Emotional. Yeah, pretty much.
What I really feel is important is how we can all improve personally from these kind of tests, which is by focusing on the negatives and working up. That's sort of also a point about the problems of the INFP. I must have something to improve on.
Of course, it is only a test, but I felt that the results resonated strongly with what I felt about myself.

Yeah, perfectionist. At least it did got that right.

And yeah, the first impression I got when I red the results was that it was so general it could apply to almost anybody, just like most tests out there. So no, not particularly impressed myself.

I took it twice to be sure. I tend to over-analyze things and write stuff down a lot. I do rely on my intuition quite a bit too. I think it is odd that so many have the Mastermind personality. Forums may attract people like that I guess.

Scoring high on Introverted doesn't mean you're socially awkward. Many introverts develop mechanisms to react "how people should react" in social situations - extraverts sense how to react, Introverts extrapolate which reaction is favourable to the population.
Don't over think the utter uselessness of these social behaviourisms though. Look at it as training a dog: speaking to it in a higher voice and petting it makes it's tail waggle.

You're quite borderline on T/F and J/P.
Have you checked out INTJ, INTP, INFJ, INFP? Maybe one of the other categories is more fitting. Reading those descriptions may give you more insight in how their questionnaire scheme translates to the T/F - J/P part.
Also, see this type indicator scheme as a grid (spreadhseet). You don't belong in the middle of a box. The more the score goes 50/50, the closer you come to the line between types.
I'm also close to 50/50 on the I/E part. I see this reflected in my life, there are periods I enjoy a lot of social interactions, and there are times when I realize I've not seen my friends/family for a few weeks.

I got INTP, at highschool I was an INFJ.
BTW I still see more similarities with INFJ.

Am I a damned EMO or what?!

Eh, doesn't fit my answers all that much. I am certainly not concise in speech, and master of tools? I can't use a hammer without someone nearly going to the hospital. I'm an organized albeit somewhat lazy thinker and talker, not really what is described here.
