Why do you despise Bethesda

How about those advertised 1000 (lulz) endings for Fallout 3? Radiant AI? Other buzzwords intended to excite retards. GEE THEY HAVE GAMES ON THE PIPBOY NOW!? 10/10!

I can't believe Bethesda fanboys support them taking a big dump on the Fallout franchise. The skill remove seems wrong and the voiced protagonist is silly, by the way do any of you plan to get Fallout 4 at all?

Strictly speaking, after Broken Steel there are 6912 possible combinations of the various ending slides in Fallout 3. There are eight different video sequences, the first is always the same, the second is based on your karma (good, neutral, evil so 3 options), the third is based on a specific quest you have done (six different options, or maybe seven if you don't qualify for any), the third one is based on the different options in project purity (let it pop, sacrifice yourself, or send in Lyons, Fawkes, Charon, or RL-3, so six options), the next is based on what you chose to do with FEV which won't play if you let project purity blow up (so four options), the fifth is the same except theres a version for each player gender, and the last is the same except there are 8 different options (one for each race and gender combination.)

So Fallout 3 has, in a sense, 3*6*6*4*8 different endings (so 3456) or maybe 3*7*6*4*8 (4032) if there's no slide if you don't do any of the six quests that get a slide. The RL-3, Charon, and Fawkes slides were added in Broken Steel, so the game shipped with 3*6*3*4*8 (1728) endings.

This all just goes to show that developers shouldn't brag about how many endings there are, because combinatorial explosions make those numbers get big in a hurry. The interdependencies are more complicated (e.g. "Kings assimilated into Legion" can only play with a Legion victory) but there are likely several million New Vegas endings.

I am not... mainly cause my computer is bad... and because I don't expect much.

That "permutation" defense of their 200 endings claim is such bullshit. You have to stretch A LOT your definition of an edning to even take into account still images with no narration or anything as an ending, those barely qualify as Easter eggs... They might as well just claimed that finishing the game with a White and an Asian character counts as 2 endings too....

My whole point is "counting the number of endings" is a silly way to gauge anything. Devs shouldn't even talk about it since people are going to read too much into it.

I might get it for my PS4 just because I so far only have one game, out of a kind of why-the-hell-not sentiment. It's a game, it's not dysentery, and it wouldn't be the first bad game I've thrown in just to see what it's all about

I will probably regret it, especially when the bugs set in (my PS is still offline, not that I expect Beth to offer much patching)

Not when the endings are actually fleshed out, specially within the Fallout setting.

Makes you kind of shiver a bit, their claim of 200 endings resulted in just 3, now with FO4 they have claimed to have 8 endings.... does that mean the numbr of endings will be counted in the decimals?

I won't buy it not even in a "why not" sentiment, mostly because the dollar went up by a lot this month and my country's banks are not even attempting to remedy the devaluation of our coin so buying games to me is now 33% more expensive than before.

It's sad they're not having multiple endings for each settlement. When you have that how can you brag about 8 endings?

If Bethesda hadn't picked up Troika could've made the next Fallout with that nice engine they demoed at one point.

'If only... but Bethesda got it! Too late for us to change now! So let's all stop attacking Bethesda and give them a fair go! You know, they may make a GREAT Fallout game!'

End Product: Fallout 3

And yet some people I know expect me to think like that for Fallout 4. It's happened once, knowing Bethesda it will happen again.

I might need to replay the ending, although it don't feel like it, but i recall that the Fallout 3 ending slides were mostly recap and not actually epilogue.
I might be wrong, but i recall that you learn absolutly nothing of the future at the end of Fallout 3, contrary to Fo1, Fo2, FoNV or even FoT which you learn the actual fate of the places, for the next months, years or even decades. Can several recap without any details, or past events, qualify for endings ?

You are absolutely f*ckin right. They were recaps, nothing else. They were dumb and stupid and after all the good endings from FO1, FO2, NV and FOT they actually think they can get away with praising only eight endings?

They basically said some shit about your karma and then recapped your major choices (the 3 of them) no closure for companions, no town endings, no mention of side-quests.

New Bethesda, which means post Terminator:FS Bethesda with Todd Howard on board, makes shitty games. The same open world FPP concept since Morrowind, the same mechanics; there's nothing new or creative in their shit. Good for those folks enjoying FPP hiking sims, bad for the others, amirite? That being said, my antipathy to their games started long before they've released that re-textured Oblivion with guns.

I agree with this, I want the game to make people use their brains with choice and consequence and good writing among other things but I don't expect that from Bethesda since hiking simulators are awesome!

To the question of "will I get FO4"? Yes. But NOT on opening day, and preferably at a significant bargain. If you're even remotely familiar with my arguments, you'd notice that I'm firmly against blindly bashing something without actually personally experiencing it, so I WILL NEED to play FO4 to be able to criticize it. I can watch videos, but that will only ever be second-hand evidence, and that's entirely subject to how the video recorder decided to edit their picks. Maybe my friend whose brother LOVES Morrowind and Oblivion and who himself LOVES Skyrim will grab FO4? If that's the case, then I'll just ask him to let me play it, and from that I will make my judgement of the game.

But I already know it's NOT going to be what I want, so I won't get it on opening day, midnight release, Collector's Edition, like I did with FO3 and FONV. In FO3's case... hey, I was starved for new Fallout, okay? I had hope that Bethesda's claims of "we're big Fallout fans, so we really want to make a game that the fans will love" were actually going to be TRUE! In FONV's case... I am very happy I got it when I did. SO worth it! =D
