Yes, the Soviets never had any problem with Jews. Just the "rootless cosmopolitans", which were a completely different thing. There was also never any ethnic cleansing or deportation of peoples under the Soviets. No sir, none at all.

Eh, they weren't quite as focused on eradicating a single ethnicity with such ruthless efficiency. The Nazis really were a category on their when it comes to pure ruthless cruelty. Can't really compare the death camps with the GULAGs, or the deportation of the Chechens or whatever with the deportation of Jews. Make no mistake, the Soviets were quite inhumane and didn't give a shit if people died, but the Nazis really aimed for cold-hearted genocide. For the Soviets it was just a side-effect.
In terms of cruelty and pure violence I guess the Rwandan Genocide comes close to the Nazis, simply because it was so shockingly brutal and done with the simplest tools. Even the scale was shockingly large, with basically a million people brutally massacred in just a few months. Mostly with machetes.
The Soviets were mostly indifferent. The Nazis had a goal and a method. That's what makes them worse.

To me the indifference of the Soviets as they targeted vastly similar targets to the Nazis (political enemies, gays, Gypsies, religion in general as opposed to Adolf's hatred for Jews) bothers me more.

Americans have never directly fought against the Russians/Soviets, proxy wars don't count. If they wanted they could fight a nice little conventional war in Alaska or Kamchatka or in that region. But they don't want to fight each other, they'd much rather pester the rest of the world together.
I think the Nazis were much more of an unfeeling machine. They couldn't have done the Holocaust in the Rwandan way, so personal and up close. They were cowards at heart and would rather let utmost cruelty happen and have their little conscience be silenced by claiming to have followed orders.
Mostly because outright war after WWII between these two large powers would have been too costly for both sides. They had both quickly amassed massive nuclear arsenals, and direct war between them would have gone nuclear at some point. Too large a risk, so they kept it to a cold war with proxy wars.
