Witcher 2

You sound delightfully frustrated. Isn't it great to be frustrated at a game.

I'll admit the Eternal Battle bits are a bit off. Logically, you should have sword-skills available. My build has a bit in swords but not much, but riposte + a sense of timing made every fight a breeze.

As for the boss...Well sorry he was a breeze too. Admittedly I've been playing on normal, but all he took was one try. Just be patient, roll around, and hit him in the ass a lot.

Well, I was delightfully frustrated at the time ^___^ See, the problem is that the section is sword-heavy, so if you skipped a few "key" skills you're pretty much screwed. I never got Riposte on my first playthrough - never felt like I needed it either other than in that specific section.

And the boss...I dunno, I had a potion-master build so I was getting no benefits from any of my skills during the fight. And I still think the whole "boss kills you in 3 hits" is bad design. None of the good action games I know do that.

There isn't. It's annoying as all hell. You have no option but to sell the heavier crafting stuff.

Well, I did definitely prefer the TW1 inventory system, but this one's manageable. I mean, it's not like you HAVE to lug around 100 iron ores with you at all times. I probably didn't use more than 50 in the entire playthrough. The whole thing with getting extra 50lb carry-weight based on a specific decision in Prologue is a bit idiotic, though.

Polish Prime Minister Gives Obama Witcher 2

Premier Donald Tusk thinks that President Barack Obama would really like to play a hardcore PC RPG.

When one head of state comes to see another on an official visit, it's customary in many circles to present the foreign dignitary with a gift. These gifts can range from light-hearted and silly to extravagant depending on the relationship between the countries - and apparently, sometimes they can include a computer game.

US President Barack Obama recently visited Poland, and the Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk was ready with a selection of high-tech gifts for the visiting leader. According to Gazeta.pl, he presented Obama with an iPad that had some notable Polish films installed, including 2002's acclaimed Katedra (The Cathedral). Tusk also gave Obama several English-language translation novels signed by author Andrzej Sapkowski.

Oh, and he also gave him a copy of CD Projekt's The Witcher 2.

Obama said once he liked Portal, so some people seem to think he is a closet geek now. Anyway, that's hilarious. I certainly hope he doesn't have time to finish it, a head of state giving 40 hours to a game would worry me about what he does with his time.

On the other hand, I would like to see his reaction to all the trash-talking and slaying rulers face in this game.

For all playing the Scoaetel path - have you guys managed to escape the Kadweni camp after the rumble with the Black Ones? I keep getting caught whichever way I go and am pretty much stuck.

EDIT: nvm, there is, like, the tiniest window to pass through without the patrol noticing. Figured it out after 20 tries or so.

------------
Also, back to the Draug boss fight - fought it again just now, and it was a complete breeze. Not sure if that has to do me playing as a swordsman this time, or that there's about a 5-6 character level difference b/w Iorveth and Roche routes at that point.

Yrden worked well for me against the Draug, was a bit annoying until I finally observed staying close in worked well.

The last boss wasn't that bad, just kept making mistakes myself, heh, but the most annoying sequence for me is the [spoiler:94d51cdf2f]wraith gauntlet as you protect Henselt at Sabrina's execution site[/spoiler:94d51cdf2f]

I hated the whole Chapter 2 (Squirrel Path). Don't know, i didn't really get that "Witcher feeling" and seriously, those LotR references were pathetic.

As soon as i have the new rig i'm in for a new game, and i hope the other path proves more interesting. I kinda felt bad about abandoning Vernon Roche anyway, and Iorveth just got nothing on Yaevinn.

So I finished the game. Act III is kind of a joke in difficulty, including the final fights.

But man, that Operator fight...

Man...Hardest fight in the game by my estimation, though I was prolly wrong to do it before finishing up all the best-item-gathering of Act III.

He's kinda hard even with the items. Difficulty is artificially increased also because the swordsman's insta-kill adrenaline ability doesn't work on his gargoyles. Lotsa rolling around, there.

Yeah, I was kinda lamed out by the insta-kill ability not working. I was already used to it not working on the bosses themselves, but their helpers? C'mon now.

That Operator was actually fairly easy as a mage build. Could just spam fireballs to fill up adrenaline, and those Gargoyles were a piece of cake in slowdown mode.

Lame-oid quen spammer!

The boss fights really seem to depend on your build. The final story bosses were hilariously easy.

Those were easy regardless of the build. Especially Letho, I was completely lamed out by the fact that he didn't change AT ALL compared to the previous boss fight. In fact, it was easier because there was so much space, I just ran back and set traps in his way, hilarious way to beat him.

Then again, at least you do get the feeling that you get significantly stronger as you gain levels and better equipment. Could've been handled better, though.

A porn knock off from popular media. Its relativ common and Evan Stone is in a lot of them. (Worked in a store with adult section where we had a lot of em)

Dude is a hard worker. Looking up wikipedia he is in 1181 adult films.

I'd suggest everyone who's already finished the game once and liked it to do so again, but doing things differently this time, especially at the end of chapter 1.
Much changes.

Yeah, I was gonna comment on that sometime. Beat the game twice (mostly for the sake of different skills, you COULD restart from mid-Chapter 1, technically). The second playthrough had 60~80% new content. Quite an interesting way to do a non-linear game - not exactly what I have in mind when someone says c&c, but definitely a welcome change from the usual railroad story games. This one's basically telling the same story twice from opposite angles.

So, pretty much safe to say that most reviews of the game didn't do it justice, since it's too much to expect of reviewers to play though once all the way, let alone twice. Except in TW2 if you play through once, you've only seen half the game.

Yeah :D Sasha Grey is pretty nice looking lass actually. I bet I would enjoy watching her ass pounded more.

But on the side note - You should check original series OST. The only thing which was made very good. I even used some of these tracks on my PnP sessions because it fits so amazing into low fantasy settings.

There is a whole soundtrack on this dudes channel.

Any idea who made music for The Witcher games? Some tracks sounds similiar. Too bad G. Ciechowski is dead :(
