20 years in prison for a youtubesinger

destructive and harmful

Tv and radio "news" channels that spout xenophobic and homophobic messages 24/7 are accepted and praised by a large portion of the population. For some reason that seems a bit more dangerous to me.

Maybe I'm crazy and have a twisted moral compass.

As a film maker, he is an idiot for not getting anyone to sign a release. True, it was only a youTube video and one screening, but he should have got it covered, especially knowing it contains 'sensitive' material. Not to mention, there are child actors he could have easily hired to do the scene.

But yeah, no way jail time should even be a possibility. Fine and community service tops.

How would it work, would there be a jury? A jury full of soccer moms might crucify the shit out of him.

Play with fire get burned, it was a silly thing for him to do. When he is laying in that rack at night getting turned out by the prison wolf he might come to that realization.

20 years is a bit much though, I think his lesson will be served after just a few short months. They will make a blow up doll out of him.

The guy deserves 0 jail time, a fine sure, but not more than someone who could've killed somebody. That and piss off with the dumbshit sexual remarks, they need to fucking club those "wolfs" or whatever piece of shit fuckers to death.

Yeah, shame on him for editing a video into a parody. He should be punished with jail rape for that!

...

Wait, what?

In the UK, it's practically impossible to get a 20 year prison sentence; unless you go on a killing spree, or eat several children or something of a similar ilk.

This is correct

I don't think anyone is saying he was particularly clever about this. But c'mon, punishment proportionate to the crime. A fine is more than enough.

He'll get reduced charges and little to no jail time, he won't go to prison. Fines and community service will likely be a part of his sentence.

The 20 year thing is just grandstanding by the District Attorney looking for free airtime before his next election cycle.

A fine and community service for doing some stupid youtube video? thats insane, maybe less insane than 20 years in jail but still is being over sensitive, these people should stop getting worked up over fictional schild abuse, there is actual child abuse out there, far worse things than editing in naughty words, go find those sick fucks, not people that just made a joke.

Outraged knee-jerk reactions aside, anybody actually seen this video?

Typical local news fare. Low-brow, salacious lead story.

I don't really get it. What did that dude do to be threatened with 20 years of prison?
He sang a kid friendly song to kids.
Then he recorded a 'dirty' song.
Then he edited the dirty footage over the kid's version and uploaded it.
For what does he deserve jail time or even a fine?
For having thekids in the video unauthorized?

That. But that's not pornography, that's just reproducing someone's image without a release.

I guess what caused more outrage was that he associated said material with sexually-explicit music, which is, to some, identical to serving the children's faces to all the Internet paedophiles on a silver platter.

Bunch of nonsense, but the kids' rights have been violated nonetheless. I don't agree with stamping the big red 'pedo' stamp all over the case - that shit will ruin anyone's future - but he has to learn about people's rights when making a film (albeit satirical, light-hearted, or low-budget). He's not gonna learn that in jail.

Right, even if the kids consented there's all kinds of rirdulous child labor beuracracy to cut through. Just heard an interesting interview with the Coen Bros. on NPR about the legal challenges in using a 14y.o. actress in True Grit.

So, nobodys seen it then...
Can we keep our shirts on until trial, verdict, sentencing?

This is one of those trolly local news stories that's purpose is to get people knee-jerk outraged over very little of substance. Looks like it worked pretty well.

yeah! He might just get only 15 and not 20 years. Sheesh people these days :P

*To be serious what I find strange is how one can even make a "serious" claim that he deserves 20 years as Max I mean what BN said

Without any offense but I guess it is the american system where many times enough the situation depends on the mood of the jurry and judge. Not that this is that much different to other nations though. But just if comparing it to a British or German court there seem to be more emotions inside. But maybe thats just my subjective oppinion.
