2008 US Elections

Ugh... I bet this will be the 2000 election all over again.

Also, looking forward to see Palin as president in a year or so when McCain croaks. That'll be good for some lulz.

Hmm, I don't understand American Right wingers, I hope Obama wins, I don't think we need another 4 years of US of A world policing.

USA "world policing" has been going on waaaaay before Bush took over :P.

I know, either way though, I don't want to get into it too much lol. I still hope Obama wins.

Gotta admit US world policing increased again, and a lot, in Bush's 8 years.

As south-american, thought, can't say I didn't like him... kept action in Middle East and almost forgot our existence

Pally, this will be a landslide in Barack's favor. I do believe the media has been purposely playing this out to appear to be a closer race than it really is. *knock on wood*

Well folks its looking like we are gonna have a Democrat to blame the worlds problems on for the next four years

I am sorry but at this point I am completely apathetic to both candidates. I do not think anything will change, maybe I will be surprised =/

From the info I got on CNN a few minutes ago Barack is just barely beating out McCain, but only by about 2%.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

right now McCain's advisers are saying there's no way McCain will win. he's WAY too far behind with the electoral votes.

VD, you were seeing the popular vote. the electoral is what REALLY counts and Obama was ahead 207 - 135

Yeah Obama win for sure, The popular vote is where they are still neck and neck but that hardly matters.

That's true. I always hated that though.

Yeah. Every time we turn our back a fight brakes out and the US and the UK got to clean it up(wih Special appearance by Canada)

That's the most ridiculous stuff in US democracy... people's vote count less than those of electoral... here in Brazil it's people's vote only, if a man has 51% of them, he's elected. No delegates and stuff, just the will of the people.

It would be pretty funny if McCain won the popular and lost the electoral college.

I'm so disgusted with US politics that I essentially lifted my finger at both parties.

Too much gd talk, and neither party can do the walk.

@Sulik
Yes. That's why it would be funny, because the Republicans would be whining instead of the Dems. Them Dems sure like whining, though.

You don't even know what Ohio is.

WHY ARE ALL YOU FOREIGNERS TALKING ABOUT OUR ELECTION WHUUUUUTTUUUFFFFFF

I honestly don't care. They're all assholes; you're one too, you think different.

edit: Fuck you Pope, I went to go get water and then I come back and you fuck up the post order.

Actually, from how I was explained it works like this: the citizens of a state vote for D or R. The party with the majority vote then gets all the electors for that state, who then elect the actual president.

There's only absolute victories, so 51% is enough to win a state, but the states don't have the same number of electors -- I guess it's supposed to be weighted by population.

The entire system only sounds good to Americans and even those sometimes understand why it's ridiculously stupid.

Not to mention the lack of distribution of power inherent in American presidency.

I know how you feel, A poster on another forum who is a Ron Paul supporter if I recall put it well:

"P.S. - I can't wait to see how smug these Obama supporters are in 4 years after we've invaded a few more countries, killed a few more hundred thousand people, and changed nothing about our politics other than replacing dumb elephants with stupid jackasses."

I have an aching feeling nothing is going to change.
