Alpha Protocol

this game is amazing. it's exactly what I was hoping it to be. well, so far at least. I'm at the second safehouse so I guess I have lots left to see.

The game is definitive not perfect. It has it's flaws and it lacks polishing in some areas (like the animations or controls [on pc version at least]). For me it was still worth the 40 Euro that I've paid.

40? I have it preordered on zavvi.com for 23 incl. shipping. Of course the drawback is that I am still waiting for it : ).

Thank for all the impressions - it sounds like a game I will like a LOT.

It seems that your handler determines what strategy you choose like stealth or whatever. But it also looks like you don't have to follow this strategy and can do whatever you want. Although, this might not go well with the handler hehehe 8-)

I beat the game and I only remember one or two missions that let you choose your handler, and the only result was the beginning of the level being different (ex. one handler might have you start by blasting through the main gate of a mansion using an APC, another handler might have you sneak in).

I uninstalled this turd after finishing the first tutorial mission or whatever. So boring, and plays like a low-budget title.

I think a few mentioned here though that the game is only starting to be interesting AFTER the tutorial.

But I agree it really dosnt look like some AAA title. Just from the visuals.

Question to me would be just how good it was ported from the console.

Current MetaCritic score - 66

Might not seem that terrible, but when you consider that AP is a AAA title released less than two days ago, you realize 66 is almost Big Rigs-class failure.

That's the 360 score. The PC score is 74 and PS3 score is 70.

As for Brayko...

[spoiler:8ec94aec9e]I gave up and reloaded the safehouse. Went to Rome now, maybe he'll be easier to deal with later. And yeah, he's the most annoying thing in the game so far.[/spoiler:8ec94aec9e]

Doing it wrong, man.

The game picks up as soon as you finish the tutorials and get onto the missions, the tutorials are tedious, sure, but the missions are where it's at. They're pretty damn fun.

I'm actually thinking it was made as a PC game then ported to 360, judging by the size of the type on my console and TV, usually it's bigger "console type" like that of Fallout 3. On a console the type is tiiiiiiny, man, I'm sure it's much better on PC.

@Ausir:
[spoiler:c47babb324]I'm definitely going to do that if I fail this guy another 5 times, he's just so hard for what is meant to be the first boss after Saudi Arabia (Moscow is meant to come next, right?).

I also heard something that you get some help with him later if you do a different area first, dunno though.[/spoiler:c47babb324]

Nah. If the game's so bad from the start, I know I won't start liking it later. That's just how I am.

At Bryko:
[spoiler:bef00de99d]Now on my second playthrough, I found him much easier. I am playing on "normal" and my trick was simply... used "slow-mo-spell" with assault rifle, then try to hit his head. If he runs up to me with knifes, I run away until he is downed. In this moment, I shoot more bullets into him-- most likely I will now get blinded by the lights, but it's not a big deal. Also I keep running left and right on the walls, so he can't hit me, if he is in the upper level. His companion dudes can be taken out fast, if you throw incendiary bombs or if you are fast with rifle.

With this, I knocked Bryko out after he took the fourth or fifth cocaine.[/spoiler:bef00de99d]

My second playthrough is still fun for me. Especially when I think back at Mass Effect 1 and 2... I played both only once and never touched the games again, because I knew everything about them already after the first time. A second playthrough would just be exactly the same experience again... just that you know everything already and it becomes less interesting.

Instead of beeing friend with G22, I now flirt with SIE and it is super cool. Got some funny moments already and getting into the villa of Bryko was funny as well, especially if you know how G22 is doing it.

That's right. There's no reason to keep playing a game that doesn't entertain you.

In some cases, you will miss out cool game then.

Vampire Bloodlines has been very boring to me, the very first time I played it. But I tried a little longer and got convinced, that it rox. Got the same with Arcanum. I even stopped playing it for a few days, after arriving in the first town. Picked it up again then and started to love it.

The morale of the story: Sometimes you need to search a bit longer or deeper or whatever to find a gem. Etc. etc... :>

Damn, I started with Moscow and got stuck on Brayko, then did all Rome missions and some Taipei ones, and got back to Brayko only to find out I still can't manage to kill him. Even with Heck's coke and with chain shots. When I chain shot him down to his last health bar and then chain shot him again, guess what? He still has the same amount of health. WTF?

If this is true, then it might be the first real bug in the game. :P

It's funny because the reviewers said it was bugged up the ass, I've noticed a few glitches with stuff like the cover system (it's highly inefficient in some situations, get your head down lower Mike you asshole) but those are not bugs, and the reviewers referred to bugs.

I've asked many times what these bugs are, but so far, nobody really said anything. Everyone was just "its full of bugs! Bugga bugga!". Never anything specific.

I realized, that sometimes, the enemies don't have clips in their rifles. Saw it on some of my G22 friends. Also sometimes, the inventory menu isn't working correct. But that's not bugs, these are glitches which don't harm the gameflow. So... I don't know, maybe I am playing some other game.

Hmmm, the more i read here the more i am tempted to buy this game right after i am finished with Red Dead Redemption. Sure, the game might have some bugs. Vampire TM Bloodlines had also bugs and it was somewhat unfinished, but fuck if it wasn't one of the sweetest games i have ever played in terms of story and characters.

Fortunately just one-time occurence, the next time I tried (and I tried many times), I finally defeated the fucker.
