It's the nature of One Man's Terrorist being another man's freedom fighter. Because rarely are there bad guys who don't have some fans.

Just look at El Chapo's fandom.
 
It's the principle of the Mafia Drama, Mafia and Cartel bosses are invariably horrible people but all that money, their audacity and "adventures" are so exciting and alluring. Same reason why so many corporate suits are in love with Gordon Gekko and Wolf of wallstreet despite the stories ending horribly for them.
 
This wasn't about superheroes being technically vigilantes in real life, it was about bending over backwards trying to find meaning where there isn't any as part of the whole "political people hate pop culture" part of the discussion.
 
There's also the fact that a lot of people genuinely hate the system and laud anyone who "strikes back at it" even if they hurt other people along the way.

America had it's own during the Depression.

Of course not. Never said that. Just saying that the biggest force in trying to influence or even outright ban or censor all aspects of pop culture is not the classic old fart Republican anymore, but the pseudo-academic Left.
 
But all the journalists trying to moralize difficulty in videogames are invariably part of the neo puritan left, same with those "localizers" who actively censor games as part of their job and control what we get to see in media from other countries.

Well, I'm old enough to know that Hillary Clinton and Gore were behind the suppression of video games.

But the Right Wing Conservative Moral Majority was behind the suppression of Dungeons and Dragons and porn like literally 5 years earlier.

So it's whatever points are appealing to SCARED PARENTS this week.

I don't define the sides by the Extreme, though. The Extremists want you to side with no one so they are the only voices.

Actually, from what I've seen a lot of alt right people will claim to be centrists to lure disgruntled centrists into their fold, the left is basically fucking itself, only the most extreme reject centrists.

There's those and those. There are some Alt Righters who really believe they're being Centrist, then there are those who mock Centrists, and then there are those who try to lure the Centrists in.
And then there are the Lefties who'll attack everyone slightly right of their position, and most likely cannibalize themselves as soon as the opportunity arises.
 
In Colombia we finally have a meaningful election in 50 years, all thank to a bi partisian peace treaty. This has resulted in a rupture on the right, with one side wanting to dismantle the treaties and the other holding onto them for political power, it sure is a nice spectacle to see the 2 right wing candidates wage war on each other, the "Castrochavism" boogeyman is almost a joke at the expense of Ivan Duque at this point.

So in Columbia the right is cannibalizing itself? Whereas in the U.S. It's the Left, while the right shoots itself in the foot?
