Anime Thread

Well, not all of them are bad. With most anime movies it's ok. But sometimes it really really bothers me. I noticed that it's worse, when I saw with Japanese voices first. I guess the characters and their voice are simply stuck in my head, and when I hear a different voice ... it just feels odd.

Particularly as I think the Japanese language was really made for emotional and angry shouting. Which does happen quite a lot in animes after all :D.

I often can't stand the japanese voices.

Uruse ! baka.

Mostly in the more kids-oriented animes like Naruto or One Piece, though. But there the english and german dubs are just as awful, so why even bother with that shit.

Actually, the German one of One Piece is 'ok', at least compared to the English/American. I seriously ... don't know how they can stand it :/.

The Catalan dub is and was a phenomenon, the "seiyus" were revered (until they die, they will) and it was actually pretty good, the most notable being Dragon Ball and One Piece, followed by Doraemon and Shin Chan (it's hilarious in Catalan), mostly
In Spanish, i only could bother to watch Trigun and Cowboy Bebop, and Dragon Ball if the signal felt like it ^^

I don't really watch current seasons, when i watch anime, i just watch things i heard were good and even then, i don't watch anime that often.
Out of the ones i have watched, Code Geass is definitely the one that ended up being my favorite.

Yeah, it's a ver y good show. It's perfectly on pair with Death Note (better imo)
It handles the "2nd round" nicely, and it redeems most characters.
Jeremiah, 60% loyalty, 30% machine, 10% orange and 200% badass

You people should watch Shin Sekai Yori. It takes place in a post-post-apocalyptic setting in which societal collapse was caused by the appearance of strong psychic powers in some humans.

The anime focus on the society created after he following dark age to ensure security and, while the main protagonists are children, the plot uses this in a good way.

Very good anime overall.

Yea I don't like to watch any of those weeb shows. I watch mature and sophisticated anime like Junjou Romantica or Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi.

Proof that some dubs are competent:

On a serious note, I really enjoyed Ghost in the Shell. Nothing seems to come close in terms of depth and seriousness. Not a fan of the reboot, Arise. It seems to dumb down the series and doesn't feel like a proper successor(à la Bethesda). I love the Miyazaki films and Akira. It also disturbed me greatly as a kid. That teddy bear scene still haunts me .

I'll have to check that one out. Is it anywhere near as good as Ghost in the Shell?

I like the Chinese cartoons. But I prefer the reading the mangos.

Currently watching Jojo part 4 every friday, really good adaptation so far, and I catch Dragon Ball Super each week too just to laugh at how bad it is. I prefer binging it so I am waiting for the current anime season to end to watch the stuff I am interested in.

Mob Psycho 100 was nice, it just ended. Basically a more character-driven One Punch Man

Ecchi in a nutshell

I once read the Love Hina manga, it had a whole sequence where the protagonist accidentally molests one of the girls in a bus/train due to the shaking violently around. And it's played as a cute moment for them. Never read further.

Yeah, they do that sometimes. There is this one, Masou Gakuen HxH that is complete shit; Evangelion with 1996 CGI with Soft Hentai over. The MC humilliating one of the female characters (in the soft hentai way, mind you) was pretty bad. And there is a torture scene that gets waay too kinky
But i do like Monster Musume for some reason. It gets pretty ridiculous

What's even the point of ecchi? There is like actual full on porn manga if 2d is what you are into....

Well it depends. Sometimes boards come floating out of the sea of shit. Shimoneta-... , Monster Musume and Prison School are Ecchis that aren't focused (fully) in the erotic part, rather the comedy.
