Anyone Else think Shoddycast has become a Bethesda Bum-licking channel?

To be honest you guys need to stop whining about lore inconsistencies because its stupid, they are the most tiny things. Frigging, whether its T51 or T60 in Anchorage, or whether the Pip Boy is attached to you or not. Get a life

I can kind of agree with this.
What I can't stand are Quests like Kid in the Fridge and the one with Aliens.
Not because it contradicts minor stuff from the History of the series, but because it openly goes against major events in the series.
I don't need to bring up Necropolis again from the first game.
As for Vegas, well for me, it's just them trying to give a nod to a previous game to say "Hey Look, this game was published by us as well."

All it does is make Bethtards curious over whatever is over there, meaning they would want to push for more "BETHESDA FALLOUT" games set in New Vegas.

like i said, some shoddycast video were very good. austin were kind a guy who doing a lot of research before debunking.

look at these

of course you cant judge them by just looking at their thumbnail, that is stupid. (sorry)
these guy might do some mistake in their storyteller story, but to me they are just fine.

but sometimes, there is also stupid video .
like this :P

I personally like the fan fiction with the Storyteller. It's far better than anything in Fallout 4. It's an interesting story and well, it works. Yeah Bethesda threw the lore in a blender and they have to deal with it. That makes things murky for them as they write the story. That's the state that we live in with Fallout, crap has to get murky because morons are at the helm.

As for their other videos, I do like Austin's debunking videos. They're wordy, but seem well done. Fallout or otherwise.

I have been subscribed to them since 2014.
I think Shoddycast are an excellent channel, the Storyteller is an awesome character, they put a lot of time into their videos, and frankly its up to them not you guys whether they wanna lick Bethesda's bum or not.

I agree with the guy who everyone thinks is me:
Maybe you should chill out and accept that different people have different opinions and complaining about other peoples opinions is stupid.
Its their right to praise/enjoy Fallout 4 and its not yours to tell them not to praise/enjoy it. Its a waste of time to bitch about others opinions.
Go watch someone else's content if you dont like it, instead of forum crying about it.

"Are Fallout and Elder Scrolls the same universe?"

Yea that's totally what Fallout fans want from their lore. "In fact let's go even further! Give Kid in the Fridge a quest in Elder Scrolls VI! Put vaults in the new TES! Because FUN! Let's merge the Dragon Age and Mass Effect universes too. The new Commander Shepherd can shoot Mage Fireballs with his magic wand, and Harry Potter can join in. I sure hope that's what we get with the new Mass Effect!" How about no.

This kind of lazy garbage is why we get terrible writing in Bethesda games and why the actual Fallout fans can't have nice things.

I loved Fallout 3 and Vegas and thought Fallout 4 was satisfactory. I have never played Fallout 1 or 2. I consider myself an actual Fallout fan. Do you think I am not an actual Fallout fan?

Its obviously food for thought in a video for fun. Its a waste of time taking it so seriously my friend.

Honest answer? I think actually not, no you're not an actuall Fallout fan if you havn't at least played the first 2 games. I see people like you as Fallout tourists. Someone who likes the "theme" not the core principles of Fallout. I like to quote Timothy Cain as the original creator of the Fallout series and setting:

"My idea is to explore more of the world and more of the ethics of a
post-nuclear world, not to make a better plasma gun.

Bethesda took the Fallout theme and lore and turned ito a theme-park, where you hop in, enjoy some of the rides, buy a nice toy or two and munch on your cotton candy while you leave. While the acutal quality and idea behind Fallout is now completely lost, now with F4 even more than ever. While F3 had SOME small glimpse of Fallouts previous quality - choices! Moral! Omg! Stats and Roleplaying! Fallout 4 has become a full shooter.

In that sense I would say someone who played Wasteland 2 is closer to a Fallout fan than anyone who enjoyed only F3 and F4. Simply because W2 had a lot of Fallout 1 and 2s spirit. So much even, that Wasteland 2 is closer to Fallout 1 than it is actually to Wasteland 1 ... but that is a different story.

So is sticking your weiner in a blender I guess ...

Yes.

Fallout 4 is an abomination that destroyed the entire franchise. Bethesda not only ruined the original Fallout but now has destroyed their own version of it.

That's exactly what the they keep saying about Kid in the Fridge and every other stupid thing in Fallout 4. The issue is that the entire game is filled with this stupidity. If you gonna have stupid crap in the game there better be some actual good writing as well. Bethesda seems to have forgot that part.

So I have not got a lot of money at the moment, and I'm saving up for other games so I can't afford 1 and 2. However, I have read a lot about the story of them both, watched a lot of the game, and I'm a big fan of them both. Am I still not a proper Fallout fan?

Can't afford the games? They're $14 (AUD) each on gog.com and $5 and $8 (USD) on Steam, unless you're living in a cardboard box you have no excuses when it comes to not playing the games.

I have not got much money at the moment because I am saving up for WOW Legion and DOW 3 which will probably be about 150 all together, and I just don't want to spend too much money because I have other things I need to spend on.

Yea you don't have to play Fallout 1 and 2 to know that Fallout 4 is a dumbed down, childish, immature, FPS with awful, insulting writing that makes Call of Duty's outrageous campaigns look believable and grounded and makes Fallout 3 look like the greatest Role Playing Game ever created.

It is the lowest rated Fallout game ever made if you exclude Brotherhood of Steel.

What? You're postponing buying 2 extremely fucking cheap (and good, very good) games so that you can pre-order shit that *may* be good? O.o Fuck DOW 3 won't even be out till next year!
I just don't want to spend too much money because I have other things I need to spend on.
But you have $150 to spend on games that aren't even fucking out yet? :aiee:

Chill out, there is no need for you to get angry and start swearing because I am careful and budget my money.
Not everyone is strapped with cash and I have bigger priorities.

Well, to be blunt, yeah. I would say owning and playing the game is a crucial experience here. There are many people here who played Fallout 1 and 2 probably a thousand times by now, and yet, even after years they still earn something new about Fallout. Simply because someone discovered something in his play, some small quirk that you never found out by your self for what ever reason, but you're so surprised that the next time you play the game you have to try it for your self. Those things don't come across very well from reading the story, watching lets plays and that stuff - which is very dull with F1 and F2 anyway, they simply are games that have to be experienced, not watched they are not Counter Strike or Fallout 4. You're simply missing on the nuances, that is.
Mind you! I am not telling you that you're an idiot and I am not trying to judge you. So don't take it as offense when I call you a Fallout-tourist. This same issue existe for example with the Elder Scrolls when you compare Daggerfall, Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim. Morrowind was a really huge game when it comes to the content! Both Oblivion and Skyrim lost a lot of this appeal. Because crafting such kind of game, takes an incredible amount of time, resources and skill. Todays game developers ask them self, if it's even worth the time and resources to craft such a detailed world when only a rather small portion of your playerbase will ever encounter them, if at all. Infact this might even scare a lot of players into buying the game! RPGs have always been a niche in gaming. Things like lore books, hidden quests, moral dilemas, the nuances etc. Today it is a lot more about visuals, the wow-effect, the constant entertainment. You press a button something awesome happens! Press a button! Awesome!

Which leads to games like F3 and F4 which are incoherent fun-fares. You're not exploring a world, with it's own rules and uniqueness, you're simply going from location to location just like in a funfair where you jump from one attraction to the other. And anyone who thinks Bethesda is different here from EA/Bioware, is simply naive and deluding himself.

You know, it kind of reminds me to what a huntress explained to me once. Female hunters are relatively rare in Germany, so naturally those that want to get into it have to deal with some difficulties. She loves hunting, and people in the hunting community respect her. They are always rather strange at first to new hunters, because they are simply this kind of bunch. She told me when she meets other female hunters, there are generally two kinds of them. Those that want to get seriously in to hunting. And those that got in to it because of their boyfriend. Guess which one sticks around.

And that's the Fallout tourist. I mean you just told us that you're this huuuuge Fallout fan, yet you can't be bothered to give 10$ for the old games because they are to expensive and you're saving for a 150$ game? Well ... what are we supposed to make out of this?
