Baldur's Gate III

I just don't think they are going to do any of those characters justice without feeling like fan service.

Well I wouldn't mind some references here and there maybe learning what some did after the Bhaal spawn crisis. I guess most of the characters would be pretty old at that point anyway. Wouldn't even mind to meet some old BG characters like as Questgivers or something where they lamet about the "good old days" being behind them and how they wish they could still go on adventures. But certainly not as party members. Yeah they wouldn't do them justice. I hope we will see some known D&D characters though. I mean BG2 had you interact with characters like Elminster and Drizzt.

They won't do Drizzt right either because I do think Larian's writing is pretty mediocre, but then again the writing in BG was never that strong to begin with.

Yeah I can see that. But BGs writing was at least serious in tone. Larians very often isn't. Which is the part that makes me unsure if they can actually deliver a decent experience as far as the tone goes. Their previous games have been full of "whacky" stuff, which was okay because it was the world they created and that's how it is. But Baldurs Gate isn't.

I don't know the entire Doppelganger plot from BG 1 was goofy as hell. You are right on the tone no matter what though. Larian just is not there.

Ever read a Schwarzenegger quote (mentally) in his own voice? Does anyone not hear him when reading, "Get to the choppa!"?

Well of Drizzt... when I read the books I always read his lines in the voice of Eric Burdon. This wasn't a conscious choice, it just began of its own, and seemed very fitting to me. I didn't even figure it out until after a few weeks.

*Ah... for those [few?] who don't know of Eric Burdon, here is a voice sample:

Drizzt got butthurt because he got hit by a fireball or something so he left.
