It's not about them making a Fallout game, it's about them not being able to make a proper RPG or come up with a good story that's not some shit soap opera.

Maybe it's just me but the removal of skills doesn't seem like a step in the right direction for an RPG. As for the writing, I would not be surprised if it turned out to be a soap opera or something cliché and predictable.

I actually find it kinda strange they aren't giving the story much attention at all.
I mean, other RPG's do that right? When they promote them?
Maybe not as much as the combat and shit but still, they do promote it to some extent right?
(I have no idea, I don't pay attention to interviews and demo's and whatevs)

So you'd think they at least give us 'something'.
Apart from the whole waking up 200 years later from a vault and the script thingie which we don't know if they will 100% use; Do we actually know anything about what the game is going to be about once we leave the vault?

Other rpgs usually start talking about the main cast and their personalities. Like, We got info on the New Vegas companions before the game was out, they had little summaries for Arcade, Veronica, Cass, etc. They even told us which factions they belonged to and I think they also told us that Cass was Cassidy's daughter (not sure about the last bit). We even got that picture of Novac's Dinosaur statue and details on the "One for my baby" quest.

It's a thing in marketing, you don't talk about the aspects of your game or product that aren't that strong.

They aren't talking about the story too much because it's probably shit like most of their stories.

But they were all about the dragon shit when Skyrim was being promoted....

Kind of a bad sign if they would even talk about Skyrim's shitty story in Marketing, but FO4's is kept completely in secret....

Didn't they talk about the civil war quest line as well? And the brotherhood? And the winterhold college thingie? (Skyrim, obviously. Pre-launch)

Cause that's kinda my point, why would you not want to talk about the story at all unless there is a good reason for it? And not wanting to spoil shit can fuck right off. It's the beginning of the game, shit will be spoiled the moment let's players and whatnot (or reviewers who get to review an early copy) play the game so why bother hiding it? Especially considering they made a big deal out of showing off voice protagonist and dialogue wheel for the pre-war portion of the game. You'd think that if they chose those for a more heavier narrative approach then the story would be a selling point.

All we know about the writting is that Bethesda thought it was of the outmost importance to include an Eject button for dialogue.

There are a few DoucheBags on here....some that ugh make me with their NMA b.s. Yeah Fuck You! and your double post

Welcome back. ;)

I understand that but it seems they are sharing much less than they have with previous titles. It is a bit strange. It isn't like they have a high bar to top with Fallout 3. I wonder if it is due to New Vegas at all?

Bethesda wouldn't need to worry about FNV when it comes to dialogue and story as their own fans are fairly "meh" towards FNV. Most of the Bethfans found it boring and slow and that characters had far 'too much' dialogue. (at least if the Beth forums are any indication)

Well, Fallout 3 is not an RPG since Bethesda doesn't make RPGs. More or less the article is correct. It's an "immersive sim" or a "power fantasy theme park" but it's not an RPG.

All games have the power fantasy element to them. It's just that some, like Fallout 3 (and most likely 4) try to make you feel like a badass by throwing shiny baubles at you and giving you lots of big scary enemies to shoot at.

Not saying he is bad, but Q.Tarantino is way too much overrated. There is at least 50 better movie writters/directors currently active.

Bethesda and Tarantino have at least one thing in common, the steadily declining quality of their products. Such a shame, they both started out so well...

Yeah, but a lot of the fans admit the story is better. I feel like Bethesda is trying to differentiate their game from New Vegas as much as possible. All of the modding community migrated to New Vegas. Even they admit it plays better. It is just the world design they weren't fond of. Granted there are exceptions.

Actually a lot of FO3 fanboys swear the story in 3 was better and found the idea of Followers with stories to be annoying. They also think that having a button to get out of dialogue during important climaxes on quests is awesome because they hate having long dialogue to read.

I've read that as well. It just varies from player to player.

Most people are also entirely hypnotized by the Codsworth gimmick of calling you Shitcunt if you entered that as your name.

You sort of wonder how much they have to market Fallout 4 at all. People were so thirsty for this game there were multiple hoaxes just around its potential announcement. Plus, they can see the preorder numbers. So they might as well figure that they're going to sell a huge number of copies devoting minimal time and effort to marketing months beforehand. They'll probably say a little more when it gets closer to November.

* facepalms *

I know people are easily bored and entertained these days, but come on! Have at least some level of intellectual quality demand.
