Bethesda announces another E3 press conference

And within an hour, I felt like I wasted £100.
That ws my Birthday Money gone...
Real talk? I got a case of schadenfreude when I read that. Sorry.

What exactly could be "remastered" about Skyrim though? All I can think of is simply porting it to new consoles and updating the graphics slightly. Seems like a cashgrab to me. Oh wait, it's Bethesda we're talking about...

A Skyrim remake? Why would they do that ... unless you mean they simply make another Elder Scrolls set in Skyrim. It would break with a tradition - always a different province.
Anyway, a lot of people think the next Elderscrolls will be set in one of the elvish isles or provinces. Which makes sense. It is yet again another location where they can play it save. High fantasy! Just never ever do something that could be considered risky! The Catpeople? Deserts? Booooooooooooooooooooooriiinngggggggggggg! Or the Lizardvolk? All in jungle and swamps? Naw! To hard on the brains of people. It needs woods, castles, and allt hat LotR shenaningans. Can't dare to make something that could even remotely unique. Well what is really unique in this day and age? But still playing with Bethesda, the last visually unique game they made, was Morrowind.

Uh Skyrim came out in 2011 and still looks fine. Why would it be remastered?

Oh right. Bethesda writers have complete writers block (as evidenced by the lack of writing and prevalence of MMO quests in Fallout 4) so they'll just rehash Skyrim.

You start Elder Scrolls VI as Emperor Urinal Septum who is also King of the Dark Brotherhood and leader of the Mages and Fighters guild and your son Shaunus Maximus is missing or some sh*t. Then you leave some dungeon and Prestonus Garvius gives you fetch quests. Voiced protagonist and dialogue wheel. Can't wait.

Also it will still be the same game engine because LOL.

"Not interested in giving a crap about games with talking lizards and cats LOLZ buy our paid mods!"

"10/10 the sidequests blew me away!" "The best RPG ever made" "Makes Witcher look dumb 10/10 eye-gee-n"

Beth recently made the effort to un-ban fallout 3 in Germany, so if they really are planning a remaster i´d bet it would be that.

the same premise also could be heard in Tyranny, but let see of how obsidian handle that

You're still somewhat an errand boy for Kyros, and as had been said it seemed like there's a chance you fuck up the job so it's not like how typically Bethesda are going to power fantasy their audience.

Now, it would be total dumb move if they actually going to remaster Skyrim. That game has been ported to Xbone, and it would be completely redundant and stupid to actually remaster it. Of course they might want to do that for PS4 as mods come over there, but with all the problems with modding scene right now? They would just burn their bridge with their modding community as modders have to deal with double the numbers of console users not understanding when they can't use a mod due to it requiring more work or script extenders and instead concluded that the mod author is a PCMR elitist, yadda yadaa.

Of course, this all won't stop Bethesda from drooling over the prospect of making more money as console gamers begin to throw bucks at them despite Xbone users already had the backward-compatible Skyrim. If they really did remastered Skyrim, though, they would forever be marked as the shadiest company to ever exist. Well, at least for me.

A remaster isn't a remake. :V
They're probably just talking about porting Skyrim over to the new consoles and upping the graphics slightly so that they can sell it for full price again. Wouldn't surprise me if they sold the expanion packs separately too.

Shouldn't be too hard to port it to the updated version of the Creation Engine used in Fallout 4. Reused assets and so on...

Only for consoles? Fuck that shit. I liked Skyrim, if it looked really good I would have thought about getting it on a Steam sale or whatever, but if it's only for consoles I won't have to bother :D

Time for the nexus modders to pack up and update all their mods with heavy protection while they still can.
If this is true, Bethesda.net will host hundreds, if not thousands of stolen mods in a matter of weeks, and the studio will never have the means to deal with all the DMCA complaints. Ever. It will be the Nassau of modding. The Somalian seas of gaming.

"Oh, let's release a 64bits version of Skyrim, to make it finally mod friendly... and let's make sure that the modders will never have access to it, while we host their stolen mods... Oh, oh, and let's ask Peter Hines to actually mock the 10 million nexus subscribers ! You know, our entire PC market !"

Now, I'm not of good faith here and I exaggerate, of course. But you get the idea. I'm not sure what's the plan behind a console exclusive, if this whole rumor turns out to be true. I don't get the idea.

http://www.gamesradar.com/a-skyrim-...eres-why-bethesda-will-never-do-morrowind-hd/

From the man who said such things as, "If you want to pick flowers and make potions all day, then that's what you're role-playing. If you want to go shoot everybody in the head with a laser-musket, then that's what you're role-playing," here's another segment in which Pete offers more of his view on RPGs:

“You go back and look at it. Do you remember the dialogue system in Morrowind?” points out Hines. “Do you remember what it was like talking to someone and scrolling through this long list of questions. You put that out for someone that just finished Skyrim and they’re going to be like ‘What in the hell…?’”

Well while i disagree with the principle of it i have to admit that i hated morrowinds dialogue system so if it got an hd remake i wouldve liked that part completely overhauled.
