Bethesda announces another E3 press conference

Well while i disagree with the principle of it i have to admit that i hated morrowinds dialogue system so if it got an hd remake i wouldve liked that part completely overhauled.

Yeah a lot of the dialogue in morrowind felt more like exposition than a proper conversation.

And although the dialogue interface serves its purpose fairly conveniently... I think it feels a bit too much like reading Wikipedia.

Morrowind didn't really have "dialogue" in the sense that you were conversing, you just had a list of questions/topics you could ask the NPC about. Sometimes you got options, but mostly it was just topics. Morrowind was still pretty close to the PnP roots, were NPCs are mostly there to give you quests and help you along instead of being realistic simulations of actual people.

Only for consoles? Fuck that shit. I liked Skyrim, if it looked really good I would have thought about getting it on a Steam sale or whatever, but if it's only for consoles I won't have to bother :D
oh really? what aspect did you like? the walking simulation?

It was competently crafted mindless fun. The combat felt good, the art design was pleasing and it was fun to play, at least for a while. Sure, it gets boring quickly, but give it a rest and it's good for another round of silly yet fun hack'n'slay.

Then I'd say that is one of the things RPG's made a good decision in moving away from it. If I'm going to roleplay then I want to have some agency over my characters personality and interaction with other NPC's. If the NPC's are just there to be wikipedia articles then I'd say it is poor RPG design and PnP roots can piss off. Hell I'd talk FO4's dialogue system over Morrowind's any day. Cause at least in FO4 it feels like I'm carrying on a conversation with someone rather than just asking questions and being given paragraphs of exposition.

ummh...what standard of gaming year did you use? i really hate to say this, but skyrim really suffer from "hit this until it cant get up" combat system. well that was my personal opinion, i rather play witcher 3 monotone combat that still make you read the entries for monster.

but yeah, i'm not hating skyrim. its feel good with mod and enb, feeling like real life fantasy simulation.

Why would Bethesda make a remaster of Skyrim:
  • To get their most modded game ever into consoles that have modding capability
  • To make Bethesda.net mod distribution platform popular fast
  • To cash-in tons more money out of an "old" game that will not require much work or resources to make
  • To prepare for developing some kind of paid modding platform (subscriptions to access bet.net, actual paid mods, whatever else they can think)
Why it is possible it will only be for consoles:
  • Console players in average consume anything
  • PC players wouldn't buy it as much because they can make the original skyrim look and play awesome (with mods)
  • Bethesda's target market is definitely console players
Why does Bethesda still releases games for PC:
  • Bethesda only releases PC ports of console games because it needs modders to make mods, and that can only happen in computers

I agree, Skyrim was fun for the 70 or so hours that I played of it.
But I doubt I could return to it anytime soon, even if Remastered, it'll still be the same game. I can't bring myself to sell it or do anything with it as it's still a 'Decent Game' and I don't want to get rid of it.

But yeah, it is a rather tedious game.

Why Bethesda would never do Morrowind HD? Because why bother if modders can always do Skywind for free? Yes they tried to shut down morrowind conversion but that was long ago.

The only hazards to all of these is all of what's currently happening in their modding community and mod thief shenanigans that even forced chucksteel to hide his mods from the Nexus.

Not that Bethesda would care, especially with how Pete Hines 'deal' with the situation. Now that I think about it, they really need to regain their fanbase's trust. Announcing remastered Skyrim is the easy way to do it, or they could announce TES VI or maybe even whatever's left of DLCs for FO4. While it's likely they would announce a remastered Skyrim, however, the situation with their modding community needs to be dealt with properly, or they would just lose the audience's interest who mostly would buy Skyrim for mods on consoles.

Of course, there's still actually those who would willingly buy Skyrim and play it unmodded, and these kind of people aren't few in numbers, so Bethesda has that going for them.

Wh-- so who's been holding its' multiplayer all along?

Doom is further proof you don't 'need' a multiplayer system to sell a single player game to anyone, even console players... The issues and bugs is just more proof Doom's MP is just an afterthought shoved onto another dev on the cheap (hence the reason why it's just Halo 5 MP in a different skin) because some market suit thoughtDOOM couldn't sell without one.

What annoys me the most is the fact The New Order didn't have one and sold stupidly well - and it's from the SAME publisher.. So why Doom and not Wolfenstein?

STOP tacking on multiplayer to titles what don't need them it's not like Tertis had one... (oh wait)... or Bioshock 2 needed one (damn that got one too), Uncharted?

You know what I give up
Couldn't agree more. Especially since there's this guy making a thread in Torment: Tides of Numenera Discussion page about how the game won't sell because it doesn't have multiplayer feature. I will just laugh as I lose my faith in humanity if that same guy defended Fallout 4. (oh wait Fallout 4 is a precursor for whatever MMO Bethesda would want to make in the future)

I didn't say that the combat was good, I said it felt good. Weighty and fun, and just involved enough to make it fun. Skyrim is not a game I play for really investing my time into, it's just for mindless timewasting as a badass pseudo-viking.

I remember reading on Steam forums some people complaining about the same issue when Pillars of Eternity was being developed.
Here, have a couple of threads about it for your entertainment:

I sincerely hope Bethesda never remasters Fallout 1 or Fallout 2.

Why the hell is Pete Hines the spokesperson for Bethesda, again? Someone so completely uninterested in rpg's... speaks quite a lot for the rest of them, I guess.
