Bethesda responds to NMA's preview

Goatse for justice?

I don't see NMA having any reason to lie, while Bethsoft can be argued to have profits, sales and whatnot

great job you two

of course, having read the Q&A (read the whole preview of course) it should have been obvious to mr. Hiney Hines, that you two were from NMA or another fansite...

However, i didnt like about the Q&A that mr. Hiney Hines avoided a lot of questions keeping them half-answered and so on... I think the parts that didnt get answered should have been questioned again, so there would have been no way to "duck and cover" :D

I thought one part of the Q&A especially funny :

Hines said:
The problem is however that they've had years to think about what they wanted and create a view of what Fallout 3 should be that could never be possible today. They're still stuck 8 years back in their views of Fallout 3. It simply wouldn't work.
So the fanbase thought 8 years about how the game would be best done, but if the developers of Bethesda come and develop Fallout 3, while some of them have never ever played the sequels, they are 'f course 8 years ahead with their ideas and thoughts, compared to the fanbase...

Also, I noticed some between-the-lines insults against the Fallout (not 3) fanbase (even if indirectly)...[/i]

edit: superembarassing mistakes in name (3 times)

@kukident - I agree, but then we can't be expecting them to throw roses at either BN or Suaside or NMA in general.

It would be nice if Bethesda would take a more proactive and interactive approach with the Fallout community.

This whole business of being sneaky? Our guys needed press credentials to get in. We got those press credentials. While it is possible that Silencer was denied for reasons other than he's an Admin here, we certainly were not going to take chances, not with how Bethesda has dealt with the fan community in the past.

Was it sneaky, or just cautious? And if cautious, maybe because we were simply reacting to how Bethesda plays the game.

Hopefully Bethesda will reconsider its PR with regard to the Fallout fan community.

Wouldn't Have It Any Other Way

Wouldn't Have It Any Other Way

When tripped over the 'divining' line between X and Y, realized there was a Z.

"Divining"? The dividing line was a belief construct, (super) naturally.

Z as real as X and Y.

More choices, dimensions, possible then scripted by the presumed gate keepers.

Such motivation, and imagination from a pariah fan site, unprecedented.

Adversity and excellence, seeds for a saga, path less traveled and all that ...

Who would believe .... an option Z.

Fascinating that the third path was so practically handled, mere believers using hard won communication assets to represent the recognized 'press'.
Rookies doing the leg work for - experience -.

Making it happen, living the dream, always a great story.

The street action at the Bethesda forums is a class act, excellent work there too.

Book, blog, graphic novel, movie, reality TV series, real *cultural convergence* material.
Lock down this IP for teh win !1!

Who gets the role of welsh when he does his soliloquy on quality?

As the number of ink based mag's I sub dwindles to two,
I am considering the support of communication ART in other media.
NMA is candidate #1.
6 day weeks in this summer's heat has this old dog worse for the panting.
Expect a week or so before my commitment crawls out of the stifled shade of good intentions.

We are Maurice "Oompa-Loompa" Jones-Drew and Game Informer is "Fragile" Fred Taylor?

Excellent!

It's Q&A

I think it shouldn't be off-limits to state some harder hitting questions...

You mean like, controlling who gets into Q&As and demonstrations and who doesn't, a lot more exactly and stricter?
(that's the most probable outcome, imho)

how in the hell could they say that what was said in the preview exactly what they were expecting?

with the way they normally talk about nma or do so in veiled reference, they are talking about something rosh would say/do...
It takes only a little browsing of the Beth forums to get the distinct impression that the mods, as well as many of the developers who post, are rather childish in demeaner, looking to get the last word and squelch discussions with lame excuses like "Post count reached." (I haven't read Beth's rules, admittedly, so maybe that is a legitimate thing, but I don't know of any forums where threads are always locked after reaching a certain number of posts.) I'm sure that particular dev thought he was scoring argument points by making it sound like he's just got NMA so pegged that he can predict everything the site will do, perched up on his throne made from the skulls the original supermutants, glued together with the Vault Boy's innards.

some of the mods, like summer, and a few other with names the elude me are pretty cool and want fallout 3 to turn out right, but others are, how you say, have a gudge, against us fallout fans and NMA member in general...

on another note, i was glad that someone asked about unarmed/melee combat in the Q&A, i had been wondering it myself.

god, I can't help it, "What's a Nubian?!"

*crosses fingers and waits the response of "bitch please you all most made me laugh!"

Every time I read 4too's posts... I try to figure the guy out, who he is, why his mind spawns such interesting babel... It strains the mind a bit.

I'm glad to see Beth taking note of the write up you two did. It I would think, gives you a certain level of accomplishment.

And back to not being so serious... SuAside, you want fan girls, give me a razor, lotion, mini skirt and a camera *raises left eyebrow and winks* ...And a WHOLE lotta room for the pukin after its all said and done...

P.S. I'll be sure to shave around the blemishes.

After daring feats of infiltration, and friendly pats on the shoulder you finally have the time for yourself.

You take a look at your PiPBoy log and scratch another job well done.

For successfully infiltrating Bethesda you gained 20000 experience.

You have gone up a level...

You guys are the greatest. Great review!

Surely the best preview so far, Xerxes, but that "20000 experience" thing got me on surprise somehow :P I really felt like it was a game and I was like "OMG! So much!" xD I guess I've been playing a little too much.

we're just so high level, Morbus. 8-)

it takes a lot of xp to matter...

It's just like when you get Vertibird plans back to SF. You get 20000 exp. It was a really though mission first time I played. And you deserved it :)

I may be the only one here who got that, but I think I love you now.

Season needs to start. Right now.

Now THIS is a REAL PREVIEW. The others were just PR. TAKE THAT, BETH!! We're everywhere, can't hide from us. We, the True Fallout Fans, are everywhere and you can't do nothing about it.

hi guys.

dont want to sound like a noob but who is that rosh guy??

Rosh - Roshambo - The Roshambo Warrior

Rosh has been with the Fallout community since Fallout 1. He was an admin of NMA from about 1998 to 2006.

Rosh has a reputation for being one of the most outspoken fans, never really happy with half-assed approaches or wait and see. He led the charge against Fallout:BoS (which he dubbed PoS, Piece of Shit) and was one of the most critical minds on Fallout Tactics, constantly dissecting and attacking design decisions. He is in the Tactics game, as a mad old drunk who pees on people.

When an admin on NMA, he was known for his no-forgiveness policy, he'd verbally abuse and flame any person who joined without first lurking or learning the rules, and ban them within half a dozen posts.

He left NMA over disagreeing to the approach on Bethesda's Fallout 3, a year ago

Roshambo is an old fallout fan, know for excessive (but extremely enjoyable) verbal violence when driving a point home. his points are usually sound, but often drowned out in verbal abuse.

a beloved member of the Fallout community (and used to be an NMA staff member), but he has retreated from here recently and as far as we can tell is no longer following FO3.

edit: ffs kharn, you post too fast...
