Bethesda's Fallout 3 forums opened

I know I have been a bit active in the Fallout forums at Bethesda's forums. I have answeres 3-6 questions about what Fallout was. And in one answer, I mentioned that Interplay (&Black Isle) developed (& published) Fallout 1+2 about a decade or so ago.

Little did I know that the one asking was in fact from Romania, a country in which there weren't much access to computers nor games in the 1990s...

Anyway, Hungry Donner (a moderator) also did answer a question & provided a link to what Fallout is.

As for the discussion about turnbased or realtime combat, I'm not against turnbased combat pr.se, if it is done correctly. (I'd rather enjoyed the turnbased combat in the old Might & Magic games).
I would like to see, though, that Bethesda still has an option for targeted shots as I found this to be very handy in tight spot. If you had marksman?(I think, sorry, but it has been nearly 7 or 8 years since I played these games) as a PERK?, you could actually get an advantage over tougher opponents if you were able to hit them in the head or in the torso or in the leg or arm with a targeted shot.
(this is something I miss deeply in all the D&D games out there).

I have even posted the link to seth godin's excellent talk about making and marketing things (such as games) for the fringe market now - instead of going for the middle (or mass market) market. I think I've mentioned NoMutantsAllowed also, and I'm still standing :) ....

3) pay-for content - I dont see any problem at all with that.
5) realtime combat - Whats wrong with real time combat, it allows more skill to be shown from a person
6) over-all-levelling - leveling balances the game
7) soil erosion - ?
9) dialogue about mudcrabs - not funny
11) character classes - this allows people to customize their characters to their liking
13) linear gameplay - I dont see any problem with that
14) quest compass - It allows you to find where you are going instead of having to cheak the map all the time
16) quest markers - well some things are impossible to find without quest markers, I believe that quest markers prevent hours of pointless serching
17) topic-click dialogue - this allows you to skip any alternate information that you do not want to hear about, and it allows you to learn things about areas and people. Another thing is that it allows you to activate missilaneouse quests
18) gamestart in prison - once again not funny
19) guilds - There is nothing wrong with guilds

You are obviousley not a true gamer, and dont relize what makes a game good or bad
I don't know should i laugh or cry... That last sentence from a mouth of Oblivion fanboy(most likely he/she never even had played Fallout) sounds ironic, don't you think?

Beth's audience or fake?
In my eyes it's a satirical comment. Can't believe that there are such idiots.

I pity them for having to row through that flood, lol!

Much of which seems to be caused by our own evicted PsychoSniper.

Registered there today, already getting really annoyed by their utter ignorance of everything they are talking about.

There are some very interesting posts in there as well, for example this following guy. I wonder where he came from?
One of the Codex true patriots.

Also, http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=680894

Turn-based and overhead views are for old games. Fallout 3 is a next-gen game and should be presented as such; first person perspective and real-time.
It will be fine, bethesda pwnze at making games, so whatever they come up with should be just fine.
People don't want to waste time waiting for "turns" to end, they just want to shoot zombies or whatever and have red appear all over the screen. It's the nature of the beast and I think some of you guys may feel a little left behind.
Turn-based gaming was used to simulate actions that weren't possible with the technology available. Now that computers are more powerful, real-time can do what it couldn't previously. First person perspectives are also far more immersive than an overhead perspective. It just logically makes sense to go that direction in development.
And here is something from the Codex that sums up the situation:

Yep, this kid and I are destined to like the same Fallout 3.

i think everybody at NMA should join the Beth forums and act in a responsible argumented and mature manner while puttin across and standing up for the values and elements that the original games were all about ... flexible yet firm :)

What Kotario said, and again Bethesda devs read all that is discussed here. I know this for a fact.

I'm thinking that if they read all threads, they wouldn't have any time left to make games.

The forum is rolling along nicely, they're not heavily moderating out anti-Bethesda opinions, and there are quite a few of those...interesting how in the turn-based v. real-time poll 75% of the people voted for turn-based combat.

I agree, it didn't quite turn into the flaming war that I thought. There seems to be good discussions going on in a number of threads (of course, most discussions have been seen on other boards for a long time).

I think there are quite a number of posts that are borderline trolling (both from "Fallouters" and "Elder Scrollers"), but not quite as bad as I expected. Hopefully these people will get tired of it eventually.

In addition, Bethesda has a new community manager in Matt “Gstaff” Grandstaff.

Wait, hang on...why isn't he here, doing his job?

What would he do? Pee on the inferno? That forum has been up for close to 24 hours and all ready is approaching 4k posts. He doesn't have enough hands to cover all that.

Hell I'm trying my hand at damage control there but folks seem to be ignoring anything coherent and intelligant (requiering reading) and going for the, flame type of comments.

I do enjoy it though. So much to say, so many folks to pwn that really have no idea who we are and just give into the stereotype that we are a bunch of raving psychotics... Like my Ex! ...But thats another story for another time on the Montel Williams show.

Christ, i thought after the initial outburst, the forums would settle down at least *a little*. They only seem to be gaining momentum ;x

I wouldnt be surprised if the board would get closed for a few hours just so the mods could tackle all these posts, lol.

wow these topic are really heating up. there beeing made and replyed to so fast its hard to keep up :S. the only thing i hate about these forums is the people who arte against Fallout and pro TES, you cant have a disscusion with them cause there ever 10 years old have a IQ of ten or are generally just stuborn and all there aming to do is bad mouth Fallout. if any good disscusion about Oblivion V Fallout 3 dose come out of there ill be amased if its source is one of these TES fanboys. lol also if you have seen a interlectualy TES fanboy id like to know there name so i can talk to them and avoid people like JoanaNYC

You mean this guy? Yeah really scary :D

Most of the TeS fans are just confused and trying to deal to a new situation, what I'm worried about are the guys from other Sites and Blogs who are going there just to flamebait Fallout fans. That's getting really annoying.

Not REALLY???

How did you find him?

Edit: DAMN! if they can track him down, I wonder what they are able to do to... :look:

Killzig got him, those guys at DAC are craaaaazy.

Seriously now there is something that people are forgetting though, the fact that all the topics get to be locked after 200 posts, and all locked or non active topics get pruned after a month, so many posts are going into oblivion really soon. So if you want to participate you better backup your posts and those from others that you might find interesting.
