Borderlands 3 (Or as I call it, Randy needs to pay off his embezzlement lawsuits)

I feel that we have entered the dark age of PC gaming. I don't begrudge anyone for pirating but the problem now is that more devs are going to put anti-pirating software in their games that is going to fuck with everyone's PC's and that is not cool. I wish that they would go back to selling physical copies of PC games again. Thanks Epic Games for ruining PC gaming with store exclusive shit.
We are. Not that PC ports are bad (compare DMC5 with DMC3 on PC, the horror), standartization and experience makes magic if devs are able to learn. But there are still titles exclusive to consoles, some games are better be played on console due to store exclusivity, et cetera. EGS on it's own is not a problem if we could run games without it or there'd be a client better than Steam. Epic Games is. EGS is not made with players comfort in mind, it's a half-assed effort with spyware, it's all about money, developers and their own. Chinese market money first.

Just a side note - your 'competition argument' just falls apart again, capitalism apologists...

Randy is a idiot.jpg

You know Randy, all you had to do was say, "Gearbox didn't make the final decision to have Borderlands 3 be a Epic Store exclusive. For any inquires please contact 2k Games for more info." In which 2k Games would then politely tell you to go fuck yourself and give them your money. But please, keep making a ass of yourself Randy. Hopefully more people will see you for the scumbag that you and your company are.

I liked the first two games and even the Pre-Sequel but this look hardly any different than those games. Heck, the Pre-Sequel did more than the second game with the gravity jumping, air management and laser and cryo weapons. The air thing wasn't exactly popular though, even i didn't liked it very much.

Meanwhile, this just look more of the same as Borderlands 2. I do hope slag (this was a terrible idea in the end) is removed and the scaling is nowhere as bad as Borderland 2. You think the Bethesda games since Oblivion have bad scaling? They ain't got shit on the Borderlands 2 scaling. It gets so bad that you are basically forced to play in co-op if you want a smooth experience, because playing in UVHM and the OP levels is painful solo.

They were clearly trying to force co-op on people with increasingly difficult content and it panned out terribly.

That's honestly part of why I hate BL too; I'm an antisocial motherfucker, let me play fucking solo. If your game forces co-op, then it's shit.

If you're a member of me and Rose's Discord then you've probably read my rant about streaming games in general, but I agree with Ranger that it was better when you actually owned the game. For example, Total War is probably my favorite series. How about you let me play Attila offline? Like, I don't want to put Steam into offline mode, I want to ACTUALLY FUCKING OWN WHAT I PAID FOR. Way I see it, I want to be able to play my PC games during a zombie apocalypse hooked up to a generator. If I can't do that, then your system is retarded, and arguably theft, because I'm giving you money for a game that you retain fucking ownership of. It's like I'm paying Gabe's fat ass to borrow the Total War series. That's not how you capitalism effectively. I use Steam (fucking regrettably) because there's no other options nowadays. If I could just buy the game on a disc, and install it directly to my hard drive like in the olden days, then I'd tell Steam to fuck itself in a heartbeat.

But then, this goes back to what we've been saying about the games industry. Companies just want MORE. And if Steam monopolizes this shit, then it's not like we've a choice, eh? TBH, hit me up when Total War: Medieval II can be installed on my hard drive; it's the only game I really need.

PS: I know that everyone is going "erh, piracy" but honestly the PC games industry didn't fucking collapse prior to Gabe fucking Newell saving the day. He just found a way to scam us all under the pretense of copyright protection.

Does he even dream to get the same hype for Borderlands than HL3 ? HL3 would break preorder records.

Our reality would get turned upside down if we got a release date for Half Life 3. Borderlands 3 will never, ever, reach the same amount of hype an Half Life 3 release date confirmation would get.

Randy is delusional.

PC Gamers 2013: LOL! Look at those console plebs getting mad at timed exclusives! That will never happen with PC games!

Hm, “capitalism apologist”, that’s a new one on me. I’ll take it as a compliment despite the fact that it was clearly meant as a jab.

I honestly don't see the issue with games being Epic exclusive for a year.
I mean, I would if the market was better. But the competition is GOG, and they like to either focus on their own games or older games, or Steam. And right now, Steam need to sort their shit out. If you were a publisher making a triple A title for mass market release, would you honestly want your game to be on the same store front as something like Rape Day?

Again, there's always GOG, but if Epic are offering the money and is providing a service where the biggest issue isn't on the actual store itself, then can we really blame companies for taking the money?

At this point, it could hopefully make Valve put more effort into Steam instead of letting it rot.

I understand the idea behind that. But EGS is just... ugh. It feels shitty, and I haven’t even made use of it. For all I know, it could turn out fantastic. But it’s not gotten off to a great start.

What you get with the Epic Game Store:
- Literal spyware, got caught stealing both hardware and steam info then played it off as a "accident".
- Games bought regionally are more expensive.
- Transaction fees on purchases.
- People in some Countries such as Korea are still having trouble getting accounts and buying products.
- No offline play, wanna play this out in the boonies or on duty well too bad you can't. (This sucks for someone like me who has buggy internet due to living out in the boonies.)
- Very limited to non existent social features.
- No screenshots.
-No controller support. (I mainly enjoy using a controller. Call me a pleb but it's more comfortable and this sucks big time.)
- No cloud saves.
- No achievements.
- No user reviews unless devs "opt in" in which they can still moderate and delete whatever they want. (Of course the devs don't want consumers gathering together and giving people their honest thoughts on their bullshit. Just look at what happened to Rotten Tomatoes. They would love nothing more but to take away user reviews all together and just have ass kissing reviews from "critics" that they bought and paid for.)
- No Linux support.
- No game forums. (Just like with user reviews, of course they don't want user giving their honest opinion on things.)
- Lacks bare-bone store features that should have been in at launch such as shopping cart to just name one. (LOL! No shopping cart!)
- Awful storefront u.i.
- Pays for timed exclusives forcing consumers to use their inferior launcher.
- 40% owned by a Chinese company Tencent though not proven chance of them selling info to Chinese government a very real possibility.
- Broke EU GDPR laws.
- Refunds only if you meet very specific criteria and even then not given out half the time.
- Owned company Epic has both shown and encouraged very anti-consumer practices to both developers and publishers.

I have a feeling that gaming will be dead in the near future and all we're filled right now is uncertainty and pure, deep, black hatred of the future that is mostly micro-transactions.
Either we endure it and embrace it or revolt and destroy not only micro-transactions based games, but the entire gaming legacy as a whole.
At least there's Nintendo and Atari (although I'm not sure when their Video Computer System be out, but there's a chance that it'll be the next best thing we can have, or something). By the way, when the VCS be out and will it be glorious?

What? I finished both solo, not that hard.
Going through the same cutscenes and claptrap over and over again is annoying tho.

I did too, doesn't change the fact it was incredibly obnoxious and something i will never try again. And the scaling was so bad that a basic enemy could two shot you and only does so, because the game has a mechanic that you can never be one shotted from full health.

Not to mention making slag basically mandatory, which is stupid to force the player to use a specific damage type.

As a person who has played Borderlands 1 through, only 1 hour in 2 and never played anything else related to Borderlands, what's the appeal in that game?

It looks like exaggrated version of every FPS game with RPG elements and shitty grindfest that western people can't suite to be as tedious compared to japan. The plot about vault gets buried underneath these side quests that are bland and generic about either killing something or retrieving something.
So what's the appeal? Or do people like when they play ironic games?

Well, what's the holdup? Are we going to talk about the VCS or not?
Because Atari is coming back with their latest system and none of you bat an eye.
Just to let all of you know, it comes out in late 2019, like holidays 2019.

Because I'm sure RangerBoo did not create this thread to talk about the VCS.

I gotta say I do kinda like the graphic style of Borderlands, but I don't know if I could look at that for hours.
