Briton faces execution for smuggling heroin in China

Well....they really arent adhearing to principles of socialism.
You know, Marx didnt really like capitalism.
China has some capitalism, so they arent really socialists nor communists, but they still keep claiming it though.
They even claim that they follow Marx's ideas.

what makes china communist is that the land is all owned by the emporer and is only leased by the individual.

there is no legal individual land ownership.

Idk, I guess that guy can kick some ass. Or maybe he's just that ugly in person.

Scary, he looks like an Asian version of you with bad teeths.

I guess I just trusted the label on this one. Didn't know it was that far off.

Shoot me any day. Imagined being boiled to death. Starting with cold water..

I'm sure he knew the consequences and did it anyways. You don't engage in an international drug-trafficking operation without knowing what your getting into.

And if anyone needs heroin the most, it's the Chinese people.

*EDIT* (Humorously) And that's why we mustn't allow china to gain a foothold in the middle-east! We must prevent, a <s>mineshaft</s> poppy-field gap!

The opium that britain smuggeled into china during the Eigtheen-hundreds came from the middle east actually. It also ruined the farming situation in iran and set the stage for a tradition of religious leaders opposing tyrannic leaders in the country, one that culminated in the revolution. It also started the oil company Shell "Hey these boats we use for opium can be easily converted into oil transport boats!" So yeah, I agree. No access to opium middle east for china. Just look what happened last time they got their hands on that stuff.

Communism is a impossible ideal which only exists in the head of a view idealists and on paper as theory. There is always a class and there will be always people with "more" and "less" ownership. With the absolute power some people possess in such a system you have already classes and separation. I might not be a student of politics but I will go so far to say that up to day we never ever had a real communistic state and I would even think that its impossible to achieve by thinking in a traditional way about communism (marxism is not the same as what has been present in the Sovietunion, China, GDR etc.). All those system as simple it sounds have been just dictatorships.

Yes but in common language, Communism and Socialism had their meaning changed from Marx's original one to another one raised by the current society: right now, Socialism (China's stage in the Marxist system) means a broad spectrum of ideologies, many of which working inside capitalist democracies. Communism (utopia) became associated with regimes that declared themselves or were called communists, like the USSR, Cuba, China and many others. I can't help but go with the flow, not resisting old definitions made by a man back when things were radically different and likely not appliable in the current era.

I call China communist on these grounds. A more accurate description would be totalitarian.
