Can we honestly say Fallout 4 is better than Fallout 3?

I bet that it will be your sibling.

Spouse sibling?

The only thing that fo4 has over fallout 3 is actual new lore most of which is questionable at best but nonetheless at least the comminwealth has some semblance of a history. Also fo4 has farms so...

Fallout 5 will be about you saving your mind controlled twin brother (he'll look exactly like your MC with white hair even if it is a girl.) from the Zetans. You come from a vault made to create psykers (Psykers are pre-war now.) and you have the unique ability to control Zetan tech (open doors and stuff). You recover mana psi by drinking Nuka-Cola for some reason. You can join forces with the BoS to destroy your brother or join forces with the Zetans in the last minute after listening to your brother saying that they aren't all bad. Also, the Hubologists are back. Where is my check Bethesda?

Heh, this is kinda funny tbh. Everyone complained about lack of food production in Fo3, so Bethesda gave the people what they wanted in Fo4: Ways to produce food. Problem now is, though, that the farms are all over the place, like totally random. It's as if someone high up decided "we need farms in the game, let's splatter them everywhere even if it makes no damn sense!"

Lets face it though, Bethesda didn't add farms to respond to the "What do they eat?" criticism

They added farms because of the crappy settlement building mini-game.

Fallout 5 will have the eye of a BOS on the cover.
Once you open it, there will be a huge turn in the case with a picture of Todd Howard just stuck to it.
You put it in your PC/Console and it breaks because it's a turd.

Here's the thing: the best part of a Bethesda game is the walking simulator part. Once you get some green mods and Mart's mutants for boars, some real dogs, and real bear mods, the 60% of the map that's wilderness is a joy to romp around in. Fallout 4 is way, way too cluttered. Fallout 3's quests were stupid, but they were quests, and not fetching routines.

Look, Fallout 4 wants to be Far Cry, but it's the lazy man's Far Cry. It's mechanically uninteresting, it's gore is both unrealistic and unfunny, their world building is utter shit in a hat, there are no goddamned vehicles and you don't get the cool psychedelic hunting trips from drugs the way you do in Far Cry.

So no, Fallout 4 is utter shit in a hat. You want a post apocalypticFar Cry, then hope they make a post-apocalyptic Far Cry (I would fucking play that) but this isn't it. It's not even interesting to walk around in. It's the worst AAA game I've ever bought.

It's been said many times, Bethesda was always making a far-cry from Fallout.

I wouldn't complain if it was a GOOD Far Cry clone, I just made a friend who loves Far Cry and when he told me about the multiple intricate takedowns and psychedelic drug-fueled hunting trips in the spirit world and let you ride animals and become a beast master and track animals in the hunt, or ride vehicles. That's amazing! It would have been awesome if Fallout 4 merely took Dishonored's stealth system wholesale and used it as a non-lethal way of engagement.

They didn't even TRY. I've never played Far Cry before, and I would insist on a better game simply from the descriptions of the games.
And another thing, Boston should be a living city, because it wasn't nuked and there's infrastructure just waiting to be lived in. If they wanted a ruined city to fuck around in there are Worchester 30 miles inland. THere's no way Boston would be abandoned because.....drumroll please: you can get food from the sea very easily and in large amounts, you don't have to protect fisheries the way you need to protect fields on land.

I wouldn't complain if it was a GOOD Far Cry clone...
I would. They could outright surpass the best of the Far-Cry series (or any series), and it would be insufficient. When making a Fallout game they have to surpass or at least measure up —to Fallout.

(A thing they have never come close to; nor even tried, I suspect.)

I would totally get. I also understand that Bethesda doesn't give a shit about Fallout and basically are going to use the series to try out new ideas so they don't fuck up the Elder Scrolls games. But this could have tangential benefits. Not only is the game inexcusably LAZY, they took zero fucking risks. Fallout 4 was literally a diagnostic of how much can we strip down our walking simulator without the plebs reacting?

They actually took their time to try and make a good experience in Fallout 3. It was mediocre and often stupid, but I was willing to indulge it .

I like the landscaping in FO3 —and that was it. Other than that, I think they gutted the IP for its pelt; Buffalo Bill style.

It is kind of a choice between two "evils" huh?
One way or another, you don't get the Fallout experience you really want; combining the exploration aspect with good role playing parts in which you really feel like an inhabitant of a post nuclear apocalyptic wasteland trying to find his or her own path while pursuing a personal goal. (heh, in Fallout 1, 2, and New Vegas that just happened to coincide with saving humanity at large, or deciding the future of the south west for generations to come)

Occasionally I am tempted to buy Fallout 4 as yet after I played it soon after the release and was totally disgusted with it after two weeks of trying to finish it.
It is also one of the few games on which I used cheat codes during my first playthrough as I was so completely bored with having to build up my character in order to pass some skill checks because the means to normally get extra XP were of no interest to me. (doing those radiant generated quests or whatever they are called)

I am trying to think of what I liked about Fallout 4, well the androids I guess (the non type 3 ones).
Okay they don't fit the setting completely but I could have lived with the androids had their origins and purpose been more interesting. (I personally would have written the type 3's as terminator like, a mechanical endoskeleton with cloned flesh around it)

The Institute turned out to be a rather boring creation, basically the Enclave version 2.0 and Big MT, but much less interesting.
In the hands of a skilled writer we might have gotten something with a major plot twist, perhaps us, the player finally discovering this place made up to be a futuristic utopia of super science only to learn that the scientists, technicians, and everyone else is long dead, either having killed each other, committing suicide, or killed by something else.

I really hope us fans can make a better Fallout game one day as I still love the universe.

Edit: oh I once had this storyline in mind.

The player at the start of the game wakes up in what appears to be a fully equipped and furbished hospital that is run by robots and computers.
Using a medical computer to make up your own stats, skills, appearance, and so on, you manage to escape from the hospital.

But as you try to get your bearing you discover that part of your memories seem to be gone or inaccessible for you. You have no idea how you got here or what you were doing before you got taken to the hospital (or who took you there), just your distant childhood memories.

As you try to find out what your recent history was and what is up with that hospital you visit various settlements to do quests and talk to NPCs.

But at some point you start running into people who claim they have met you before, and perhaps based on your own actions/behavior, this other "you" was either either an evil SOB or a much better person than you.
There are two of you running around and it is unclear which of you is the real/original one.

The background plot would be about androids seeking to replace humans and trying to become them by uploading the personalities/memories of captured individuals into android bodies, "curing" humanity of its weaknesses such as greed, lust, ignorance, etc.
