Charisma Fallout 4 SPECIAL video

Hmm... Becoming addicted to something is down to both biology and personality. I could get on board if your charisma just made you slower to get addicted to things, even if endurance would make more sense in an in-universe context. I doubt we're going to have the ability to overdose on things in-game.

It all comes down to how they handle chems.

Because you can just smile at the bottle of booze and convince it not to make you an alcoholic.

Well, Charisma can represent genetic factors too. It wouldn't be unreasonable to say a low Charisma might correspond to various mental or personality disorders and having a high charisma therefore indicates that you don't have those sorts of issues. So perhaps having a high Charisma in this case corresponds to "not having an addictive personality".

"Not getting addicted to stuff" isn't really a matter of how tough you are, it's a matter of brain chemistry and you can't just assign everything to endurance.

Mental or psychological issues being lumped with Charisma doesn't work. Charisma would correspond to either how you carry yourself around, how attractive you are or how well you talk. Brain chemistry falls into the realm of endurance, it's an entirely biological and physical aspect of a person. There is jsut no way of rationalizing it, other than Bethesda just wanting to discourage players from feeling like they need to think about their build, so they put everything related to charisma buffs under charisma, just how they put all related to melee under strenght, even crafting of weapons.

Charisma slowing down booze addiction? Yeah let me walk up to a bottle of booze and sweet talk the addiction away. Apologies for the bitterness, I just can't get over the stupidity Bethesda has applied to SPECIAL.

If we were to include some "mental illness" factor into anything they would need to be Traits. But we don't have those either.

Hey guys, so Fallout is now a linear shooter with very light rpg elements that has dropped the stapls of the franchise in any capacty beyond surface level just to Capitalize on current trends. The Second Coming of FOBOS, we should've seen it coming.

But... But... You can build a house! A settlement even! IMMERSHUN!

To be honest, I never understood this settlement-building horseshit from bethesda. Why was this popular? Did the console players get jealous over player home mods? Why are they trying to dip into Player-house making when they should leave that to the actual modders? I'm confused, is the main character a war-vet AND a construction worker? WOW! What else can he do?

Also, this just flares up big ass warning signs that the game will most likely be empty or have many regions or towns that are simply empty and devoid of life, giving the player the option to finish their game and connect the dots for Bethesda, I suppose.

It's perhaps just as dumb as crafting abilities being dependent on Strength. Bethesda, there are things called wrenches. Magnifying our strength - it's why we have tools in the first place.

I was optimistic for Fallout 4 early after the debut trailer. But recently, I realize it's a shame these hacks are in charge of the series. Some guests to this website no doubt will not like me for saying that, but to them, I ask to read the character system carefully, note the removal of traits, absence of ammo types so far, then reconsider what you think of Fallout 4.

Strength is for crafting melee weapons.

Intelligence for everything else.

Except maybe perception for explosives.

I'm kind of glad they didn't just stick with one generic crafting perk.

But still.

Not quite sure what being strong has to do with knowing how to make effective melee weapons.

Well that's much better. But I agree crafting melee weapons dependent on Strength isn't a good decision. The removal of traits is weird, but it makes sense because we talking about Bethesda. If they go as far as to remove ammo types, that's the nail in the coffin.

Besides this character system, I'm not enthusiastic about the main story either; Bethesda felt the compulsion to put BoS and super mutants as major factions in the game, again.
