Cyberpunk 2077

Their stock prices raised by 5%, which is around 500 000 000 PLN, so maybe we'll have some more tweets.

You know there's hype when a single "*beep*" tweet for a game that has been silent for five years can raise your stock price significantly.
I really hope CDPR can pull this off, because they're one of the good guys.

Just based off of Witcher, I'm sceptical about this whole thing - have been since the beginning and even more so after Witcher 3. I suppose what can be guaranteed is a nice storytelling platform, but I fully expect them to fuck up the gameplay & character systems part of it. A fun story that is boring as hell to play.

The "beep" had people go over the board crazy... the sort of people - it'd seem - who buy games based on who's making them and less on what kind of games they are. But that's just my personal scepticism.

I fear the day, when you get a character screen in a PC game where you create your own player, with stats, skills and all that stuff and people turn away in disgust because it's not an RPG in their eyes ...

The market is already driving me away fast, so I'm not too concerned about that. I'll likely not be around when that happens.

I do wish, though, that some day I'll know how to make my own games, kinda like Jeff Vogel. There just never seems to be enough time to self-learn all the finicky techy stuff that's involved.

I actually believe this will become a non issue at some point. I could imagine that in the distant future, you will have some sophisticated AI maybe on the size of your smart phone today, doing all the programming and assets you need and all you have to do is just to tell it what you want. It might be also interactive too, where dialogues and reactions by NPCs and the environment are made up as you play the game, so there would be real choices and consequences, which dynamicaly shape the game, like a simulation.

It's finally arriving!

Also to quench some of your worries

It's been over 2077 days since we announced our plan to develop Cyberpunk 2077. We released a CGI trailer, gave some interviews and... went dark. Normal procedure for these kinds of things - you announce a game and then shut up, roll up your sleeves, and go to work. We wanted to give you The Witcher 3 and both expansions first, which is why this period of staying silent was longer than we planned. Sorry for that.

As soon as we concluded work on Blood and Wine we were able to go full speed ahead with CP2077's pre-production. But we chose to remain silent. Why? At some point, we made a decision to resume talking about the game only when we have something to show. Something meaningful and substantial. This is because we do realise you've been (im)patiently waiting for a very long time, and we wouldn't want anyone to feel that we're taking this for granted. On the contrary - it gives us a lot of extra motivation. The hype is real, so the sweat and tears need to be real, too :).

But to the point. Today is the day. If you're seeing this, it means you saw the trailer - our vision of Cyberpunk, an alternative version of the future where America is in pieces, megacorporations control all aspects of civilised life, and gangs rule the rest. And, while this world is full of adrenaline, don't let the car chases and guns mislead you. Cyberpunk 2077 is a true single player, story-driven RPG. You'll be able to create your own character and..., well, you'll get to know the rest from what we show at our booth at E3. Be on the lookout for previews!

Before we finish, you probably have some questions, right?

  1. When? When we told you we would only release the game when it's ready, we meant it. We're definitely much, much closer to a release date than we were back then :), but it's still not the time to confirm anything, so patience is still required. Quality is the only thing that drives us - it's the beauty of being an independent studio and your own publisher.

  2. How big? Seriously big, but..., to be honest, we have no bloody clue at this point in time. Once we put it all together, we will openly tell you what you can expect. And we promise we'll do this before we start talking about any pre-orders or ask anything of you.

  3. Free DLC/Expansions/DRM? Expect nothing less than you got with The Witcher 3. As for DRM, CP2077 will be 100% DRM-free on PC.

  4. Microtransactions? In a single player role-playing game? Are you nuts?
Once again, thank you for your patience. If you have a minute, do visit cyberpunk.net and share your opinion (about anything) with us. We read everything you post and we treat it very seriously.

Yours, CD PROJEKT RED Team

Glad that CD PROJEKT RED still mocks microtransasctions in single player games. If only more studios were like this.

I'm kind of hoping that it has character customisation and we don't get a premade character like Witcher.
But a girl can dream... a girl can dream...

Edit. Just read that you can, I'll keep this up so future generations can laugh at my lack of prior research.

Kinda wish CDPR could show gameplay in this trailer. I guess that means the gameplay is not ready for showcasing yet.

Ah well, it is nice to see something from CDPR this year. It'll help wash out whatever bad vibes I get from other announcements.

Makes you kinda wonder though if the guy runing CD will even be alive after Cyberpunk ...

Think about it, next time you play a CD game and spend a minute in silence, for as this guy sacrificed his life (probably literally ...) to give you those games.

Damn this trailer was all I needed from E3 this year, also I kinda like they showed the daytime instead of night, it was unexpected and surprising. Of course I will be playing at nighttime all the time anyway and prolly will download some mod that lets it rain all the time:silly:, but still it's good to see that daytime is looking really really nice.
I'm happy with it, and will be waiting for some gameplay, which I guess we will see shortly after.
Buying this game 100%, upgraded my PC just so I can play this.
