Looks like "circular AI conversations" and general AI weirdness are confirmed.

"Having a guy you've just beat to pulp with your fists beg you for mercy and then stand up and bizarrely say "Good to see you!"

I'm just trying to say that this is not true, and that the perfect rpg lies somewhere in-between

So there is one monolithic definition of what "the perfect RPG" should be?

Not in my book. I'm fine with action RPGs. It's the lack of the other variety that bugs me.

I've already elaborated on that since I made that post.

Not in any way to addresses me question.

No kidding? they really named their magazine like that?

Also, when they use official screenshots in their reviews, that's a very bad start. When marketing taglines are almost copied word for word, that's even worse. it reminds me a lot of PC Gamer's 94% (yeah right) Dragon Age 2 review.

And goddamnit, I mean I already knew the AI would not be perfected, but to see something as basic as this not being fixed... Well I guess the fans will claim that it's part of the series'S ''charm'', like with so many other basic flaws they have yet to fix. Bethesda, your game is dangerously approaching the ''wait for mods AND Steam sale'' treshold. Then again, Skyrimn probably won't be on sale for at least a year. Maybe wait for GOTY edition or somesuch.

I don't understand why developers seem to think it's a good idea to include NPC's that endlessly repeat the same useless line of dialogue. It didn't really bother me in older games where it was just a line of (written) text but it nearly drove me mad in NV and I don't think I could stomach playing through another game that has the same annoying feature/ flaw.

That review is clearly rushed. It contains a bunch of typos, zero info on plot/writing or quest design, official taglines/screenshots. Rushed to reach the deadline, uninformative as hell.

I'd have to be able to create and customise my own character and have the option to explore the world outside of the linear plot in order to fairly call it an RPG. The world of Assassin's Creed would lend itself well to an RPG, I think, if it had enough optional content to support the transition.

wow, way to disregard the rest of my post.

anyway, it doesn't matter. it's all personal taste and preferences in the end, not really anything to argue about.

on topic: glad to see we'll have some of that classic AI goodness that has sort of become Bethesda's specialty. sure wouldn't be a true ES game without it

One of the most annoying things for me in games are AI. The world is full of NPCs; then why boost the graphics if you have just a wall of script walking around (obviously shaped into a person)?

I mean, I don't give a crap if we have Fallout graphics but a SkyNet around every corner. I want smart people who will fight a good fight when prompted, or a bad fight when prompted (hard - easy) - instead of simply hitting more damage, adding more enemies or giving better equipment. I want my foes, on easy difficulty, be stupid (and not in the way the AI is stupid now - more like child-stupid) and on hard difficult, actually be smart. Hell, I'd love them to interact with the environment (such as felling rocks from above, but not Call of Duty style).

Seriously now, the world is not believable if you've got an enemy run to the right, then to the left because the script is fucked up.

But at least, no more of this level-scaling bullshit. I really hated Oblivion for not making me feel like a badass after closing down tons of Oblivion Gates and fighting off hundreds of raider groups, although the game is aimed exactly at that (you save the day, damn it!).
