We were booted out of at least 4 competition in a row on penalties. We never won on the buggers and, quite frankly, it's left a national scar. For 2 days before the match the sport's press was talking about nothing other than how fucked up it would be if it came to a penalty shootout

Now finally the curse has been lifted. Huzzah!

Did you see the look on van der Sar's face after he stopped that last Swedish ball? Them there's some great shit.

Now, I'm not too sure about Denmark-Czech Republic, but I'm going with the Czech, who'll also waltz over the Greeks (c'mon, the bit against France was just dumb luck. Looking at how both teams had played up 'till then, France was the stronger one, but it had a terrible match. France was still the strongest of the competition, and would've prolly won the finals if it wasn't for this).

Holland will prolly win from Portugal too.

I told you rock on football already last year Slamák, you wouldn`t listen... either the Greeks can make a miracle or no one will be able to stop them, they`re the most balanced team around, with so many solutions on the attack that beating them seems an impossible task. But well, I´ve seen stranger things happening on other European Championships, let`s see what happens.

And at least there was a good second half, i fell asleep yesterday watching the Dutch beating Sweden...

Well well! Denmark 0 - Czech Republic 3!
First half were pretty boring, except for some small goal chances!
Second half were better! The Czech Republic struck when the danish were unconcentrated and tired! They set up a trap for the Danish, and they swallowed the bait whole!
All the goals were nice ones! A good game with other words!

Next up: Holland vs. Portugal!
I hope Portugal win, but i'm not quite sure who actually are going to win.
Hope it will be an exciting and entertaining game!

Um, I may have seen those, but they also showed highlights from all the group matches so I got disoriented.


Anyway, Brückner's strategy is weird... in a risky but good way. He seems to want to make the enemy fall asleep in a boring game with a false sense of being in charge, then turn everything upside down. All the decisive stuff has always happened in the 2nd period; the only thing that sets this match apart is that we weren't losing initially.

I wonder if the Greeks buy into it too.

Now these were some great days. Finally Dutchies won on penalties, and now everyone's happy, even though the overall play was sucky.

And Czech -Denmark was mostly a boring match. The three goals came from nowhere, and even though Baros scored two beautiful goals, the rest of the match was quite terrible.

PS: Netherlands will beat Portugal, with the same level of play they showed against the Czechs (without the poor substitutions), and then will face the Czechs in the finals, beating them by a 3-2 lead.

In regards to this thread's poll, I think it is interesting that the teams that have been voted the most have already been disqualified. France? Outta here! Italy? Outta here! Sweden? The Same! Kind of shows that nobody actually expected certain teams to make it this far.

In regards to Greece vs Czech Republic...even though I am proud that my country (Greece) came this far in the tournament, beating Portugal at the premiere, sending Spain back so early, and kicking out the current holder of the title France,, I am realistic and believe that the Czechs have better team and will probably win...

Portugal won. I'm extremely happy for us, because this is an historical achievement. For the first time, we made it to the european finals.

But to be honest, i can't help but consider that the team showed some deficiencies in the second half which could have cost us the game. That one goal in favor of Holland was actually an auto goal because of us. And we've lost dozens of opportunities to score. Two of our main players did almost nothing.

Well, regardless, we won, we're in the finals, Holland goes home, FUCKIN' A!

Ah well, Portugal played a crappy defensive game (what are you, Italy?), with a lot of stalling, but with those goals and that excellent defense, they deserved to win. Heck, it wouldn't even have been undeserved if the gap had been wider.
