That's... not how it works...
Good writing, exploration and execution impacts quality. Mere representation by gender is not sufficient or it'll come across as token or forced. In fact, mere token insertion with no meaning or purpose won't show characterization; it just shows lazy pandering or has no meaning, and that's a disservice to actually good representation.
Now if that female protagonist has an interesting story and background (i.e being akin (though not superior) to Thrawn by reaching high ranks in the Imperial army through accomplishments despite the way the Empire operates or actually believes in the Empire's cause etc.) while bringing in a new perspective to Imperial life (i.e how the chain of command shifted etc.) after the Empire's fall (in the new canon) in EA Battlefront 2, maybe that character, along with the others, could be a selling point.
