Speaking of party.txt, there's a party member (#15) called Chicken. Is that Rose's 'chicken' (aka Deathclaw) that's being referred to?
Yes.
zenitfan4life said:
Does this mean that there was meant to be a way to recruit it? Just some food for thoughts...
No. I think its inclusion in the party wasn't supposed to actually recruit it, but to make it follow the player to another map (and then attack).

I found a strange thing playing version 1.2. When i talk to companions to heal themselves, they don't, they say "ok, boss", and that does nothing, they stay wounded and stimpacks\powder stay in their inventory. Is that fixable somehow?

This happened to me once, too. I forgot all about it. It fixed itself after some time.

Post them here or the technical wiki you linked to. I occasionally check the wiki, but it needs some cleanup, which will occur when 1.3 is released. That page of bugs looks really daunting because it includes unofficial patch issues. While the issues do apply to the RP, that page should be strictly for RP (ie issues with content added by the RP) issues only.
Thank for responding Killap. Yeah, that page looked quite messy, which is why I was wondering whether it was still active or not. I will double check "my" bugs and post them soon.

Gotcha, thanks.

Hey guys, I was wondering... Is there any use for the power switch in the basement of Abbey monastery, or the unique books such as Army Technical Manual and Operations Manual also found in Abbey? Also, is there a particular reason why there are so many junk items lying around (am I missing something?). Thanks in advance for response.

You usually need to leave dialogue for them to use a stimpack or whatever on themselves.

Hello,

As I promised I'm gonna post some bugs I've encountered and that I haven't seen others report. I think this is most of them. I am not including all the dialog/text and grammar errors because I saw that someone has already done so (and did a great job).

So, here are the bugs:

1. My character loses the bonus move (the yellow ones) if I re-load before I used them. Also, even if I use them, save the game, and then load it, the yellow bonus move dots still appears on the screen, although I've already used them. This is really annoying especially if you're playing HtH or melee character.

2. After completing Wisky Bob's quest, he gives you a reward of $65 instead of $50.

3. The tribe elder has 50/600 hp when you enter the village. Why is it not full and why is it 600(!) in the first place?

4. In Modoc, I had 3 ropes in my inventory, and I used it on the well by using the right-click backpack all ropes disappear! I think the engine doesn't check the amount of ropes in your inventory and uses them all. Not sure if this happens in other places where you need to use the rope (i.e. Sulik's village). This can be avoided by putting one of the ropes in the action window, and manually clicking on the well though.

5. If you act mean towards Fred when he wants to reward you (telling him he looks like crap, not listening to him and telling him to just give you your money) he gives you $500 instead of his normal reward, like he's suppose to. However, the dialog doesn't end, and in addition, he gives you the normal reward on top of the $500 (the $2000, bunch of batteries and a grenade). I think a loop is messed up here. So much for being mean!

6. When I came to Modoc, Lumpy was standing inside Skeeter's house instead of his own, the one above Skeeter's . Sometimes when I re-load, he disappears from the map completely, which sucks.

7. In Abbey cave, everytime you re-load the game you get the message "You enter a dark cave, there are rat droppings everywhere..." That description should happen only once, the first time you enter the cave.

8. Same thing as above goes for the elevator message at the EPA.

9. At EPA, when trying to access a locked door and getting rejected because you do not have the password, you have to press [END] twice to exit the conversation.

==============================================

I also wanna mention some suggestions and point out things that do not make sense to me:

1. Johnny's BB gun: Shouldn't it be returned to Johnny after he is rescued from the Slags? I think it would make more sense instead of the player keeping it. When Balthas thanks you for saving Johnny, maybe there should be a line like "No problem, btw I found Johnny's BB Gun, here it is".

2. There's a shovel lying down at the entrance (forest) map of the Primitive Village. Why is it there?

3. In Broken Hills, Steve says that: "Sometimes Marcus is at home or the tavern but usually he is working". Does that hint that sometimes Marcus is suppose NOT TO BE next to the bank (the only place he is always at?)

4. Everytime I ask the doctor in Abbey to give me some medicine and he asks me why, the only reply my character ever has is "There is no real reason". Is there a time when the character can say something else? Or it this doctor an unfinished element of Abbey?

5. Abbey's computer has very limited information on GECKs and Vaults, especially Vaults... All it does is define Vaults in one sentence. Perhaps it should at least give a biographical tip of where the Vaults are (Example: Vault 8 is located in the Vault City and Vaults 13 and 15 are located within the vicinity of NCR).

6. When EPA doctor offers you the Gecko pelt quest and you already have all 10 in your inventory, you have no way to NOT give it to him. Should be an option like "I need to be going now" or "I'll think about it and get back to you".

7. How does EPA's Doctor's creation of Centaurs and Floaters explain their alliance with the mutants? I always thought that they originated from the US Scientists testing FEV on animals, who later were exposed to radiation and mutated. I am not sure if that really fits into the Fallout story line... But perhaps I am wrong.

============================================

Well, here's my puny contribution to 1.3, hope it helps and maybe someday we will have a 99.9% bugless Fallout 2!!!

P.S. nobody posted here in almost 2 weeks, is anyone alive? =

It's recommended that you never save during combat in Fallout, because of all the screwy things like this that can happen.

There's another response to that, but I'm guessing your speech skill isn't high enough for the option to appear. Or maybe it's bugged in 1.2 (it's been a long time since I played 1.2.)

This has been addressed in 1.3 (actually, I'm pretty sure most of your bugs have been fixed for 1.3, but this one I took care of personally).

No, you're right. The Doctor breaks Fallout canon all over the place. This has been addressed for 1.3.

I usually don't but sometimes when playing a melee character before you get a power armor it's kinda necessary. I thought that I saw a post that about this issue being dealt with in Restoration Project, but if its hardcoded or something can live with it =)

I thought about it but I tried with over 150% speech and nothing =(

Thanks for your responses btw, I'm also pretty sure these bugs are addressed in 1.3 but I wanted to post just in case.

Hey, do happen to know the answers to these? =)

As far as I know, they don't do anything. The books are simply there for flavor. As for the junk items, I'm guessing that they're there to help illustrate that the people of the Abbey horde pre-war technology.

In 1.3 the religion of the Abbey is made much clearer and is brought more in line with the developer's original intent.

Thanks for your responses. Man, the more bits and pieces I hear about 1.3 the more awesome I think it's going to be!

P.S. I remember a debate whether the player should or should not be able to steal money off the shopkeepers in San Francisco, or in other words whether the shopkeepers' money should appear in their inventory. Has there been reached a conclusion on that in 1.3? IMO, it's kind of rigged how those shopkeepers spawn like $5000 each every 3 days, which the player can steal and have a $100000 in like a month.... and theb buy ALL the the powerful items, including power armor / gauss riffles, and then just steal the money back off the shopkeeper. That seriously breaks the balance... I know someone will probably say that this is not a part of the original designers intent and therefore not a part of RP, but I am not so sure the designers intended for the player to be able to steal all money from those 2 shopkeepers... Otherwise the player would be able to steal money off any shopkeeper, and he is not able to, because that seriously breaks the balance of the game. What kind of nonsense is being able to steal $100000 and buying something with that money and then being able to steal the money right back?! Items like power armor and gauss riffles / vindicator guns / power sledges should be hard to get, you must kill lotsa guys and loot lotsa places to be able to afford them (being able to get the Advanced Power Armor in Navarro is a silly exception to this rule imo).

1: RP is dealing with restoration of originally intended game content, not with game balance. Yeah, Small Guns and Gifted are overpowered, while Throwing, Gambling and Barter are nearly useless. So what?
2: You can cheat in the game anyway - you can just go to San Fran right after Arroyo and get Advanced Power Armor plus some good weapons.
3: If you don't like that, just ignore it. How does it matters if they are stealable, when you don't steal them? On the other side, even if this is fixed, one can use Character Editor to get the same money.

It's not bugged. You need speech 110 and charisma 8 or higher.

As far as I can see with all of these so-called "grammar" fixes that everyone seems to be complaining about, you need to use your basic intelligence that has been naturally given to you. Think about it! Not everyone in this world is blessed with the natural ability to speak clear and perfect English. So this game demonstrates that empirical point by showing the "diversity" of this world (game world) by not having everyone speak correctly.

I think it has a great uniqueness by demonstrating perfectly the diversity of people of different social and educational backgrounds by the way they speak. Keep it original and DO NOT change any grammatical instances that I believe were intentionally put in place by the original designers of this game. Use your common sense on this subject!

This RP would absolutely suck if every single NPC in this game spoke like they were a Harvard Alumni.

I've updated to a much higher grade PC since the last time I played Fo2...

sadly.. this means Fo2 is incredibly broken.

I have a resolution problem, and not even the High Rez pack seems to be working.

First movies are very graphically broken, animation in game is buggy, and the red outline of mobs turns white when in shadow areas (so half/half color) and I cannot read the Numbers in Char screen for how many points I have or used.

I tried using
Install
patch
Resolution
Restoration

That didn't work so I thought maybe it was the order of install- so I tried
install
patch
restoration
resolution

and still no luck so I tried

Install
Restoration
Resolution

and it still failed. Resolution won't install on anything prior to 1.2 so I can't try the other way on that without patching and such..

OS- Win7 64bit
CPU- Intel i7 920 @3.66Ghz.
RAM- 6GB Triple Channel DDR3 1600
GPU - XFX HD 4890 1 GB @ 900mhz
Display - 22.1 1920x1080 1080P 2ms

I've tried it in XP mode with no luck, FO2 (plain, official patch only) will play on Win7 - just not restoration - I think I got the rez patch to work on Non Restore and win7 at one point....

Which order should I do my installs? I've royally confused myself with all the attempts...

Fo2 CD
Fo2 official patch (needed?) 1.2
Restore
Rez

??

1. Install Fallout 2.
2. Install the RP.
3. Update to the latest sfall (look at the old ddraw.ini, so you know what changes you need to do to the new one).
4. Resolution patch.

For your inverted colors problem, setting graphics mode to 4 in ddraw.ini fixes that for me, but it don't work for everyone.
Possibly a problem with 64 bit systems or if it's only a graphics card/drivers issue.
Other than that, don't have any browser windows etc running in the background, and ALT + TABing back to desktop a few times usually sets the colors straight.

Doing it that way gives me a City Error. lol. Still cant play.

Doesn't work. Must be a 64 bit problem or OS or something?

and no the Alt+Tab doesn't work either...

The Restoration makes it look even worse then the normal distortion ><

Guess I won't be playing Fo2 anytime soon.

Messing with the ddraw and stuff I can't even get it to start in dx9 or windowed mode....just "failure to initialize input device"
