Doing it that way gives me a City Error. lol. Still cant play.
In ddraw.ini, make sure you have the following line set to 1 and not 0.
Code:
;Set to 1 to remove the limit on the number of cities
CitiesLimitFix=1

As for the rest, there has been numerous error reports from people with 64 bit OS:es. Since I don't have that I haven't been able to test anything myself. Hopefully someone running Win7 could put up a troubleshooting guide or something and tell what works and what don't.

All of this talk of failure in Win7 64-bit sounds like a good reason to make sure (if you're going to upgrade to Win7 upon its release) to buy a version that has the feature that lets you run WinXP in a VM for backwards compatibility (Professional or Ultimate - it's really too bad that they're keeping this important feature out of the Home Premium version).

Uh... I wouldn't go with Ultimate unless your corperate/business needs, and Pro is the only other way to go the home version is worse then any other home version of previous windows.

oh and Iam on RC Ultimate - and it's not working with compatibility mode - so it really doesn't matter right now.

Erm, that awesome feature is nothing else then other Microsoft app called VirtualPC renamed and with a pre-installed XP os.
Just grab it for free from M$'s site and install your own ;)
Or use VMware as it's rather much better/faster then VPC ;)

There's a key difference - it doesn't require purchasing a separate XP license for the machine, whereas with VirtualPC or VMWare, you need to own a copy of whatever other operating system(s) you install. If you don't have an extra XP license, or you buy the upgrade version, which revokes the (legal) right to use the old license, then going with VirtualPC or VMWare is not only not free, but is quite a bit more expensive (and requires finding someone who is selling a used copy of a retail non-upgrade XP disc, since they stopped selling XP awhile ago).

Granted, there are multiple illegal ways around these problems, but if you're going to go for one of those routes, then you might as well argue that Windows 7 itself is free, too. :)

Somethings wrong with the VM for me - it won't install the game (cannot render video or something) and bypassing the actual installation it won't load the game.

Has anyone gotten Fo2 Updated + restoration + High resolution to work on Windows 7? how bout win7 64bit? Iam up to ideas.

Oh and FYI Guys, Windows 7 has a FREE download to run Virtual Machine as XP and such - it's one of windows 7 features to try to push corperates to go to 7 instead of keeping the older versions (and thus more money) this way they can run their XP programs that have issues with even vista right now - and still purchase the new Windows and not have compatibility problems.

It was a pretty smart Idea on Microsoft's part, since as stated , it wouldn't be hard for Illegal means to do it anyway, this way it's legal, they are happy, and all programs are supposed to function as normal. It's literally a desktop within a desktop VM

OH and it's ONLY for Win7 Ultimate and Win7 Professional, another reason not to even bother with the standard edition and junk. Pros the way to go for gamers, if you have sensitive data that you "have" to encrypt or keep save and can't invest in backup drives - Ultimate would be your best shot.

It's called "Windows XP Mode - Windows Virtual PC" in case your interested in gettin data for it.... cept I can't get the bloody thing to work right either.

*Edit* HA! I got it to work... but I am not 100% sure how. Installed Fo2, then Official 1.2 patch, then Restoration, then Resolution patch - changed the color to 16 bit instead of 8.... and I changed something else but i have NO idea what, but sure enough I am running Fo2 + update + Restore + Resolution on Win7 64 bit.

So I downloaded the VM for nothing.. unless one of the VM updates is what fixed the normal issue.... I dunno.. I am confused.. but no time for that, time for some mutant killing.

**Note** I did NOT update the ddraw or anything, nor did I Delete anything. I didn't even touch the sfal I downloaded.... maybe my drivers and computer and everything finally said "omfg fine, play your old game!" I dunno.

Hello guys))
Great thanks for developer for the great add-on))
It really gave the second life for Fallout 2))
Can you help me with bug?

"Unconfirmed: Vault Village Quest - When I enter the Vault Village, all the mole rats are dead, and there are no NPC's (other than one lady in a tent). If I attempt to leave, the game crashes"

All like written on the wiki, same problem.
I have RP installed on the clean US Fallout 2.
Help me please.

I'm afraid the only things you can do right now is either refer to an earlier savegame (before you enter the Vault Village or take their quest), or (someone correct me if I'm wrong) replace your current Vault Village files in the Fallout2\data\Maps folder with brand new ones. You can also try looking at previous pages in this thread, I'm pretty sure this problem has been discussed/addressed here earlier. FYI, I believe this bug has been fixed in RP 1.3.

Any ETA on 1.3?
1.1 took 14 days from 1.0 (Jan 10 2008 - Jan 24 2008),
1.2 took 140 days from 1.1 (Jan 24 2008 - Jun 10 2008),
1.3... you do the math!
Apr 12 2012!!!!! (approx.)

Damn...
Then 1.4 will be...38 years of waiting  ? 2050  ?
LoL, well at least by then the Shi sub will most likely be finished))

Heh, if I'm still modding Fallout 2 when I am in my 60s then I will have to be the most dedicated modder to ever exist.

As for progress on RP 1.3...*insert broken record talking about RL and crap* In all seriousness though, I'm seeing light at the end of the tunnel.

Because someone made the joke, I had to run with it: the Fallout-enhancing machine that is Killap has no pity or remorse for the impatience of a few fanbois. He will continue to truck away until 1.3 is perfect, at which point he will begin bug-fixes.

J/k, and on a more serious note, nice to know you're still chuggin' along, killap.

When you think you're seeing light at the end of the tunnel, it's probably the headlights of a train speeding towards you...
