Fallout 2 Restoration Project 1.2 (Unofficial FO2 Expansion)

Heh, I love the bribery and incentive plans being discussed here.

This post is to merely show that I'm alive. I've been busy with work, exams and projects, so little time has been devoted to RP work. I'm behind where I want to be with the project and that frustrates me. Though I failed my end of summer deadline (I know what a surprise), rest assured that this project will be completed this year. Always keep in mind that this project is a hobby and I work on it when I can. Hobbies are supposed to be fun and not a chore to do.

I'll keep everyone updated.

These are golden words. The best innovations and inventions come from the people like who do something because they want to, not because they have to. Thanks for all your work Killap and do what you gotta do.

Don't worry, Slayer failed their end of summer deadline (about their new album, World Painted Blood) too! And they finished recording it in March or so. Bastards.

I hope I find enough time to play RP. Damn RL.

It still fails to amaze me how people continue to write generic stuff in this thread even when there's no apparent progress on killap's side.

Hello,

I just entered Den for the first time while running the mod and encountered a totally black screen. The game doesn't hang, but me and Sulik have quite literally nowhere to go but more and more darkness... I tried reloading and entered again several times, to no avail. I even tried to save there and then reload, but it says (not surprisingly) that it cannot load the save.

I realize it's most likely a corrupted install, but I decided to post here just in case. I've already ran through those rat caves a dozen million times... As great as this mod is (from what I've read) it has me quite disheartened that I may encounter this problem again in New Reno or San Fran, etc.

Fwiw, my stats are as follows:
Win Xp
Fallout 2 Us version 1.0
RP 1.2.2 + fixes from the first page
Weapons Redone 2.0 (there was something fishy with the installing of this mod; it just installed everything without asking me a damn thing. But how could weapons affect the loading of maps I wonder?)

I'll try to reinstall if there's no answer within 3-4 days or so; I understand you're a busy man killap. Gl and godspeed with 1.13.
8-)

Sounds to me like the thieving little tykes ran off with the lampposts again.

Usually black screens like this happen because you enter a map that has new items and artwork, but the proto files are missing. Most likely, you didn't have the files in your data/proto/items folder set to read-only and they were erased when you started the game. Because of that, when you entered a map with a new item requiring new art (i.e. Anna's Diary is supposed to be on that map), the game freaked out and you got the bug you just described.

So, recopy the files from that folder, ensure they are read-only, and go ahead and play. Previously saved games will still work. Or reinstall. Either way.

Oh... This is it; thank you! I did edit the proto files of the Super Sledge and some other weapons because the Weapons Redone mod put their ap cost to 5 which I didn't like. Ofc I didn't know about this problem so I never set those files back to read-only.

Sadly I think I'll have to reinstall since although I have the proto files that came with Fime (with which I edited the files), I think this mod modifies those files and so I'd have the default ones and that won't do. Although it was just the weapons files I modified. Does RP change weapons stats? I suppose I'll just try it and see what happens (although that already led to one disaster, heh).

Edit: The Existential land of Emptiness still stretches across the desert horizon... Only Sartre or Schopenhauer would be brave enough to play in it. Me, I'm mad at myself and sad for my man Max. The (lvl 4) Warrior Max. In this maelstrom of editing, ordinary saves like his are battered and smashed. In the roar of the cd in a new installation, he will lose everything...

EDIT2: I've reinstalled and it worked like a charm until the EPA. The Environmental Armor makes me invisible and immobile... Pretty sure that isn't supposed to happen. Before I continue too far, what have I done wrong and is the situation still correctible? Also, although merchant Bill should sell Metal armor for Marcus up in the Abbey, he didn't. Marcus was in my party and so it should've happened, right? I don't have Dogmeat yet; otherwise I'd test if I can the dog armor from Liz in Broken Hills. I'm not sure if the npc armor mod got installed though since I had to install RP manually (it complains about overwriting the .exe otherwise).

EDIT3: Well, I suppose it could be a political statement... But it seems that the effects of marihuana (from the EPA) are permanent (at least for a month now) and add +2 to PE, EN and AG. Most potheads I've met weren't that perceptive, endurant or agile, but I suppose it could be propaganda or a nice twist on their predicament... However in terms of game balance this is very bad; I wouldn't have taken it if I'd known the consequenses (lol).

This has already been discussed earlier in this thread and to my knowledge addressed in 1.3. So abuse it while you can =)

Could anyone help me with an after-finish or a near- finish savegame with the latest restoration patch installed.
Pretty please, I need it for a little project of mine.

Thank you in advance!

First of all, Kilap you did more than a great job on this. Playing the RP the forth time and it never gets old. What I wanted to ask: Who did the great job on making a new ambient track for the primitive tribe? It's really great. Where can I fetch a download, or ask the founder of this very impressive peace of art? I'm asking this since I'm also a composer/musician.

Thank you.

Hello!

Is there posibility to use Fallout2_High_Resolution_Patch(v2.2a) with the restoration mod 1.2 ??

or to use restoration mod 1.2 with Fallout2_High_Resolution_Patch(v2.2a) ?

I have a problem with a quest in this mod, ( caution spoilers ahead):

When I was rescuing sulik's sister, I chose the option where I kill every slave, but some of the slavers ran off the map so I couldn't finish it. is there any way that I could finish it or bring back the slavers to they're original spot? Thanks in advance.
