Here they are...pretty cool looking IMO.

To be honest - I think every NPC should have their own unique head on the ADV Power Armor. They can use the animations that removes the helmet and wipes the face, that way you can distinguish them...at the moment each normal Power Armor has a unique feature for each NPC. Alternatively don't gave them helmets, that way you can always see their heads - but doing that would be a ball breaker for the critter builders. The only good thing is that each character has a set of unique weapon skills, so you wouldn't need to do every weapon set...but it would be preferable to do every weapon set, for the mod makers.

Yeah, I agree.

I prefer "helmet-less" animations myself thus if I ever make a Vic-PA set of animations he will be helmetless.

What kind of markings do you think would suit Vic? Tribal markings are great for sulik and american flag is great for Cassidy, but for Vic? I'm still thinking about gears (not like brotherhood logo... simple gears at each side of chest) painted blue or whatever...

Also, I'd only do pistol and rifle animations. He can technically use a knife, but is there anyone who'd actually give him a knife? The mods make him able to use plasma rifle and other big energy guns but that was not possible and vanilla and I'd prefer it to be close to original version... Alien blaster is the best choice for him anyway. Or gauss rifle if you prefer range over damage.

Even though it takes a lot of work its best to build every weapon animation, so the game wont potentially crash if the player chooses a missing weapon animation.

I think any animation with Vic should include some version of his vest. The more tools it holds the better, to reflect his repair skill. In some of his later Star Trek movies, Scotty wore such a vest.

For Cassidy, the US government and/or flag would not be too popular in the wasteland. I think bandoliers of ammunition would be more appropriate for him.

A vest on a power armor wouldn't look too good :)

I'd keep the "unarmored" animations for knife then, if someone ever makes a mistake for giving him a knife, he'd be punished by Vic's performance and looks both :D

For my bug with skynet, I try again with Dogmeat (Canigou), and he was still waiting for me after the EPA. So it touches only my poor skynet (well, I didn't try with K9 ans cybedog).

Except that Vic's actually better with Energy than with Small at his 6th tier, as proven in the Fallout Bibles (and giving him any energy right now, as you stated by mentioning the alien blaster).

There are 3 statements:

1. What the NPC says he uses
2. What animations they actually have
3. What skills they actually have

To me, if they Chosen One can use ALL weapons (regardless of skill), NPC should at least use all weapons they have top skill with (option 3). I know that creating and editing frames is ultimate pain, from what complaints I've read here... but damn, it's so not cool to dump Sulik just because his top safe weapon is the .223

If at least the damn Gauss Pistol had the same frame of the .223 instead of a puny pistol... also, it's damn cool to have Vic in PA using Turbo Plasma/Pulse Rifle (Cassidy too, he's almost as good with Energy at Tier 6), feels badass to have a squad using these huge guns (gauss rifle is imba but doesn't look badass)

By 10%. However through superior ammunition it's way easier to hit people with Gauss rifle despite 10% lower skill. I still prefer alien blaster because:

- Against advanced power armor wearing target Vic with AB does 104 average damage per turn, including critical chance/damage calculation, whereas with Gauss rifle he only does 82 average damage per turn. 104 damage per turn tops out every other NPC's potential, Goris with 102 being second and Cassidy with Gauss Rifle being Third with 100 (This of course doesn't consider burst/charge Sulik which will constantly crit for 300-500 damage with h&k p90c with 43% CC at 6th level :p And it's against Advanced Power Armor)

- Having all NPCs running around with Gauss guns is boring :)
- I like the purple projectile animation and charring animation
- Ammo is dirt cheap and comes in tons everywhere while for 2mm you need those boring sanfran restock shop runs.

Sulik is totally safe with any weapon. if in doubt, psycho him. He will have 15 AP on his last level with psycho, too :) It's only necessary in Enclave/Navarro, maybe raiders if you're paranoid and going there early... I have never lost Sulik in another location, and he runs with SMGs and "charge" every time. Oh, and he does the most damage of all NPCs bar Marcus with Bozar, but Marcus doesn't have "stay close to me" command, charges and dies every time repeatedly in Navarro and Enclave so... :/

In navarro/enclave give him tesla armor AND psycho him. Voila, 90% damage resistance to normal, plasma and electric - the normal DT suffers a bit but it's still imho the best choice, better than power armor (survivability wise) by mile in Enclave and everywhere else if you don't mind wasting psycho.

Don't forget to give him some stims too.

Actually Pulse Rifle Vic does more damage than Gauss Rifle Vic (per turn). Not much, but still.

However, since I'd rather stay true to original intent of Vic not using Heavy energy weapons (and being lazy, it's already thousands of animations to modify), I will not include Big Energy weapon animations.

It can be easily changed - grab "Fallout 2 Weapon Editor 1.3.1.13" - F2WEDIT 1.3.1.13. (http://cubik2k.w.interia.pl/en_index.htm). Set it up so it locates your Fallout 2 folder. Find the Gauss Pistol and change 'hold frame'...this is the animation that is displayed when the critter holds the weapon. Go from small gun to submachine gun, save and it's done.

wow wow wow, can that program be used to mess with the bozar? if yes, i'll make it single shot, 14mm ap, 100-150 dam or something and sound like BOOM!

thx for the tip man, very cool, respect man :salute:

And now, to another issue: the paramedics bag didn't spawn even once in RP 2.1.2.b, and believe me, I went to those 4 shops in San Fran A LOT. The only one I could get was that in a locker on the Enclave

Is this a bug or was the paramedics bag intentionally been removed?

Cassidy has a really sweet PA-animation. I say do something similar. Sergeant's chevrons and perhaps a white star (for Texas, y'know).

For PA/APA Vic I think the bare head would be enough. Perhaps a toolbelt or something?

Love the Texas star idea! Cassidy is always wondering if Texas survived the war. For Vic, anything involving tools, that reflects his repair skill, would be great; a tool belt and/or big wrenches hanging from the armor. It would also be cool if Vic's PA looked like it had been modified extensively, as he loves to tinker. He should still have the tool belt. :ok:

How do I get the Falche 2 to work? I want to mess around with the game and when I go to load a saved game it says the "Character data not found".

When I search for the saved game I can't see it on the Falche 2 Browse.

This only started happening when I installed the, Restoration Project 2.1.2b. Which is awesome by the way.

Thanks.

@DForge

Just a suggestion; a Texas star for Cassidy's armor should be easier to incorporate than an American flag and would be more appropriate for the character. here are a couple of versions of a "rustic star" metal pattern that are popular in Texas.

Do you think APAs should also be customized? By the tribal markings for instance? Not that it matters a lot seeing that there's just one APA for NPCs and that's after you finish the game, but...

To all those people who want new APA animations...you better start working, there's only 6400+ frames to do. :P I wont be touching the stuff.

You have a point about APAs. You have the extra suit only after the game is finished, unless you perform an inventory cheat. That does not warrant new animations. For armor other than PA, some customizing might be fun to play, but not absolutely necessary. Most of them reveal the heads of the characters anyway. Maybe Vic should have all new armor animations because he's overweight. I know that's a lot easier to say than to do. :postviper:

I'm sure any new companion animations will be a lot of fun to see. :D

I don't know about you guys, but Kitsune is oficialy oficial for me, she's VERY cool - kudos to the guy who made her and for killap to placing her into RP's EPA - and deserves some Chinese stuff in her Power Armor. the other armors are ok, since she's the only woman (bar Miria) around.

I think the only animation warranted would be the critter removing their helmet and wiping their face. That way each NPC would be clearly seen for a brief moment before its back to the action. Any alternative would require a small team of people working hundreds of hours chopping and changing thousands of frames...it's just not worth it IMO. The fact that Sulik has a unique looking APA was surprising, but Josan and X'il busted their balls on that project, and understandably, are over editing 10's of thousands of frames.

Consider the numbers...114 animations, about 90 of those would require some editing -

90 (animations) x 6 (directions) X 10 (frames on average) = 5400 frames.

Sulik......5400 frames.
Vic........5400 frames.
Cassidy..5400 frames.
Myron....5400 frames.
Lenny....5400 frames.

Davin*...5400 frames.
Miria*.....5400 frames.

* These guys wouldn't be necessary, but you never know. Also there are 3 new NPC's at the EPA - thats if you play the Restoration Project.

OR...just do the head wiping animation - 253 frames x 2 (Power armor and Adv power armor).

Is that normal the psychopat on EPA factory survive when I awoke him without the chem to help him ? By this way, I have now in my team Kitsune (Kitty for the friends) and the psychopat (can't remember his name).

I though we were supposed to only have one NPC.

PS : I precise I awoke the Psychopat before, then I went to take the chem and I went back to awake Kitty
