killap, there's a small problem with both levels of the modinn map.
On the north-east corner of the chicken fence there used to be a weedy shrub acting as a blocker. Now that is gone so there's a "hole" in the fence for you or the dogs to run through.

Hm, the fire gecko's pelts are too cheap! Only 5 bucks for such dangerous hunting? :)
Well, the original developers didn't even bother to make them skinnable as they where too mangy and burnt to be of any value.
Just because they are dangerous pray doesn't mean hunting them has to be profitable.

I can't find the voice module in level 2 of the Vault City Vault ( 8 )..

is that deliberate?

I haven't been into Vault 13 yet if that helps.. ( thinking it might not appear until after you get the quest to fix the computer? )

Ah, it looks like the map fix didn't make it in. I'm not sure why, but alas, it happened. Remember that location isn't the only place to find it.

can you guys confirm this:
optimizing gecko powerplant, no longer causes Vault city to invade Gecko... VC+Gecko living/trade harmoniously...

[spoiler:ac266c7a50]I went back to an earlier save to try this, and before or after I use the disk in VC mainframe, I just couldn't get any options to McClure about the disk or giving it to him, (and this was before I used it on the powerplant) anyone managed to get this working? just wanted to know when I do another playthrough, but from my save, this isn't possible, even when I tried to use the disk, before and after I use it on the VC mainframe, I couldn't use it either, as trying to use it, and I get the message, this does nothing

not sure sure what to do, to get this to work?[/spoiler:ac266c7a50]

[spoiler:20f2fabd7e]you don't give the optimisation data disk to McLure, you give him the economic data disk from gordon..
you might have to go down and see the brian rat first to get the disc? I'm nearly there, I'll have a look....

A slightly off-topic question:

Is there a way to raise the level of my NPC(s) using a hack/editor? I've gone to EPA way too late in the game and now I have an NPC that I like, but feel like they're never gonna level up. Would just like to see what they're like when they've had the time to grow (I'm level 25, so not much chance to see them grow 'naturally').

On another note:

[spoiler:d352fa4f1c]EPA looks great! I'm a bit daunted by the amount of 'useless' stuff you find there though (shampoo, pesticide, drugs, dog food, part of machinery etc). And not stashing a single rope on top level is more confusing than challenging![/spoiler:d352fa4f1c]

[spoiler:87c3bbb97e]Pesticide/insecticide can be used to kill plants/insects in the game. Dog food can be used on Dogmeat. Putting rope there makes things too easy.[/spoiler:87c3bbb97e]

ok, waited 2 days now in the VC vault entrance and the woman that is there in the normal game hasn't showed up once..

has she been re-located or is she just missing?

FWIW she's there in the mapper with the script of vcnancy on her..

ok, update, if i leave the vault and re-enter it she micarulously pops back into place in the doctors outer office..

EDIT!!.. nevermind, I swear that in a previous playthrough on plain vanilla install she walked out of the vault after 1800 and back in after 0800.. but I just re-installed it as vanilla and played to VC vault and she does the same there, stays put until you exit the vault and re-enter then she's either there or not depending on the time..

Hey, sorry, posted this in the wrong forum. Original post:

Is anyone else getting an error and a game crash when they enter The Den? I've been pretty much everywhere else and everything was fine (amazing, actually @ killap) but I kind of want the car and every time I get on the town circle and hit my triangle, it all shuts down.

I even got a super tool kit from San Fran so I don't have to do the whole ridiculous quest getting one from Vic's daughter.

Am I the only wastelander without a highwayman right now?

The error says:

The instruction at 0048d9c4 referenced memory at 0000001a
The memory could not read from

Anyone having a similar issue?

Or, if there is no way to fix it, is there a way to straight-up spawn the car and just skip The Den? I guess I don't really need Vic.

First thing i would suggest is that you try to reinstall everything (keep your saves), second thing is that you provide a savegame so someone can take a look at it.

without being a coder, I'd hazard a guess that it's something to do with the new security door baring her path from the vault entrance when she's supposed to walk back in in the morning?
Nope she works the way she always has. If you enter the map daytime she will be there and if at nighttime she won't. Resting in there will only preserve whatever state she was in when you entered. She does not walk about.

Speaking of that new security door, killap, can you please remove the script for it? I hate that self closing thing, it's only open for a second tops. And if you could put a no light/shoot through blocker on it's right side would be great.
Looking at the door to where Syphilis is, that on is missing that kind of blocker on it's right side as well. Yeay, an original bug.

Alright, I tried reinstalling it and I'm having the same problem. Also, my character is addicted to something (I don't really remember taking drugs, unless I used buffout to carry more junk out of an area since I don't have my car, but I don't think I did?) and none of the doctors anywhere are presenting rehab options. Beyond that, they're not offering healing service. I tried damaging my character, thinking that would help, and the doctors then began to offer healing services, but no rehab.

I'll send my save file in if it will help the overall project, but not if I'm just doing something stupid, which is why I was wondering if anyone else had the problem. Where should I (if I should) send it?

Oh boy, I got quite deep into 2.1 before checking back here at NMA. I did not realise it was a pre-release, I will have to start all over again (what a shame! ;D).

There is a bug in 2.1, where I can't get the mine parts from Renesco because everytime I initiate dialogue with him it gives me the same options, which read as though it's the first time I've met him. Was this identified (and fixed)?

Also, of course, this is amazing work killap and your dedication is outstanding. Thank you!

Just quoting this incase anyone decides to respond. I can provide a save if needed.

Is it possible to install 2.1.1 over 2.1 or does it need to be a clean Fallout 2 install again? I only ask because my disc is at home but I'm staying with family for a couple weeks. Cheers!

Incase anyone wants to help me.

@talk2michael999
Yes, you can install 2.1.1 over 2.1. Some map fixes won't take affect though unless you start over.

A save game should always be provided when reporting an issue, so yes, please post one.

@killap - You know - I'm not really sure how to upload a file to the forum, so I was going to just e-mail it to you, but now that I'm looking through my folder, there is no SAVEGAME subfolder with the slots in it. When I load the game up, all of my saves are there, but I cannot find them on my computer. Is this because I just reinstalled everything? Because I didn't move the save files but I can still load them in the game.

someone mentioned something about WIN 7 putting save games and things in a different folder.. it doesn't like things writing to the program files folder?

do a search for .sav files.. I'm sure you'll find them..

I'm getting some pretty major crashes after visiting the Primitive Tribe. My guess is a memory leak because after the first crash it told me that Windows was running low on Virtual Memory.

After getting the Shaman to release the ghost to the afterlife he offered to reward me with some healing potions, but instead I got 3x an item that had no picture, was called "Wall s.t." (from memory) and weighed -17,000lb each.

After that I kept getting regular crashes within a few minutes, even when I left the mystery items behind.

I'm pretty sure I did a completely fresh install, but I can't remember exactly, so I'll reinstall tonight and load my saves and see what happens.

Make sure you have 2.1.1 and not 2.1 or older. Also, you will have to load a save before entering the Primitive Tribe. Or at the very least, don't pickup the gecko skin pelts.

Well I grabbed 2.1.1 when the new post went up on NMA, but yeah, I might have installed it over 2.1.

So it's the gecko pelts that give you the -17,000lb? It was hard to keep track because I already had pelts and healing powder in my inventory.

The saves should be stored in your F2 folder - DATA - Savegame. To answer the NEXT question, ie where to upload it, try upload servers and then post here the link, if i would upload to other server than mine, i would go for http://ulozto.net/ (2 000 mb for file, 5 files maximum in one download, download/upload is unlimited, no cash/login needed, the files stays there until you delete it...)

The Gecko pelt can cause a bug where if i understand it correctly - it does change the thing you get, and you mostly get bugged ones, so picking them up is probably the cause. You can try to put them on the ground... or somethin' like that. Buggy Gecko pelts...
