Fallout 2 Restoration Project Gameplay Thread

"you cannot get there" message in oil rig. Same here. It's probably as much possible to fly in a vertibird as it is possible to "plant seeds in Arroyo"
Also the vertibird unloading pad map is graphically glitched as hell... Just look in the far sides...

You CAN plant seeds in Arroyo. I just make sure you use them on an empty spot in the garden (where a corn stalk isn't growing)

You CAN ... unless the game keeps crashing every time you try. :P

Experimental seeds worked but not the other ones, and I never saw any crop from them.

Doesn't planting the seeds just buy you more time to find the GECK?

Well, since it's not working for me I have no idea. But I thought there was no time limit to find the geck. Arroyo will get taken by the enclave no matter what...

No, if by shortly after the 4th dream sequence you don't bring the GECK, they all die of famine...game over.

Oh, hehe, guess I've been playing to fast to ever get that ending.

Normal seeds crash the game. Period. :) I sure hope it's fixed in later realeases. P.S. don't get me wrong - i loved the expansion, but some warning of the bug dangers would be appreciated. :)

Wohooo i just finished the game. :D And the new endings are sweeeet! :D Any ideas what the two new Vault City endings are? I didn't get them.

NCR

I tried to enter NCR. At the gate the green armoured guy says something about putting away your weapons. I do so for all my guys. (I think I forgot Marcus here since he is sooo slow). Guard says it again and then he attacks me!?! Never seen that before! In the city this happens but never see it in the bazar.
So, NPC's shoot back but no-one dies because I enter the exit grid to the city. I quickly tell them to put away weapons and now everyone treats me nicely again. Went to Bazar and the guards don't seem to mind a bit....
Did I set off some code that will eventually bite me in the ass or can I keep playing?
I would reload but last save is somewhat far away...what a rookie mistake.

I think you'll be alright. I remember seeing a fix that makes that merchants guards react to you having weapons drawn. Maybe after the first time he trusts you or something.

***Spoiler ***

First new ending:
1:The slaughter of Vault City has become the stuff of legend.
2:One day it was a thriving community, and the next, the body of its Citizens lay strewn throughout the streets.
3:It looked as if raiders had sacked the city, but no bodies of the attackers were ever found.
4:Their Vault was plundered of all its technology, and refugees from Gecko soon moved into the broken walls of the city.

Second new ending:
Same as above but with this line added:
5:In a few short months, they had rebuilt the city and restored much of the systems that had been damaged by the raiders.

Hmm....do you get this by not elimating raiders and/or supporting bishop.

Its the endgame texts from NAR_VC1A.TXT and NAR_VC1B.TXT from Fallout2\data\Text\English\cuts

I don't know how you get those endings. Possibly what you wrote, or maybe if you sack it yourself?

thanks for the help with the slave camp!

my new problem is the following: The bodies in the tunnels under Broken Hills seem to be missing. (they should be located in the NE corner, right?)

edit: nevermind: I just found out myselfe;)

I used the elevator in the EPA and it just drops me on level one with everything reset!

How do I fix this?? :(

I have another gameplay fix for future versions of this mod.

After I freed Sulik's sister, I decided that I don't have the firepower, or the skills, to free the slaves in the main pen. So, I decided to make a run for it.

To my surprise, I was automatically transported to the Primitive Village. Which I actually think is a good idea. Except for the fact that my car wasn't transported with me.

As a result, I had to walk back to the slaver camp - fighting through four encounters on the way - to retreive my car. Of course, once I made it back there, the slavers opened fire on me right away, so I had to get to the car while dodging bullets.

This is a very minor issue, but still... It seems like if you have a car, you'd take Sulik's sister to her village in that, rather than walking, and leaving your $2000 purchase behind with a bunch of (probably quite pissed off) slavers.

Still, in the end I was able to solve things. Thanks again for this wonderful mod! On the balance, there's a lot more to be happy about than to complain about, and I'm thrilled to finally have the chance to help Sulik find his sister at all.

Not to mention everything thats in the trunk!

This is a great suggestion but I think killap already knows about it, so I would expect to see it fixed in 1.2.

To whom it may concern,
I visited the slavers camp last night pretty late in the game. It went a little something like this. Me + Sulik + Vic + Cassidy + Myron + Marcus. All in Power Armor (minus Marcus of course, and advanced for me), Bozar, Laser Gatling for Marcus, 2x Y2K32B Pulse Pistols for the two geeks, HK P90C for Sulik, Rocket Launcher, Mega Power Fists, Pancor for Cassidy, and of course, Improved Flamethrower. Need I say more?

Me again...

I'm in Broken Hills, but I seem to have run into a problem. I can't complete the mission person quest. I go into the tunnels, but the bodies just aren't there.

Has the location of the bodies been moved in this mod? Or, do I need to do something else before they show up?

Thanks.

Have you already talked to Marcus to get the quest? If not, that's the reason.

Yeah, that was the reason. I was getting stuck on finding evidence on the corrupt caravan guy (which I was eventually able to do) and tried to just skip ahead a quest. Guess I can't do that.

I'm in New Reno, now. Really enjoying this mod...

I have read through 18 pages of this thread (so far) and saw only one mention of a walkthrough being needed. I agree with this idea as there are so many new quests and changes. I just started playing this mod, and know I don't want to search all these pages whenever I have a question, which I will.

>>>Searching for a particular topic only shows the thread it might have been discussed in, not the page.

>>>In reading so far, I can see a lot of people have NOT read as far, and post many of the same questions several times.

>>>I don't know if there is any way to organise a forum so there was a list on page one that linked to different quest topics within. Probably impossible, or at least a HUGE amount of work for a moderator.

It's not fair to ask Per to write an expanded version for this mod, but I think 2-3 people gathering info on various quests from the many pages in this thread could do it. I have time, but I don't know if I can do it all myself.

First, we need a list of all the new areas and quests. I have Per's awesome Walkthrough copied for offline use, and I'd use his format as a base to work from. (Of course, giving him credit and hopefully with his blessing.)

Second, we need to scan through all these thread pages looking for info about each particular area, starting with the original ones. It's all here probably, along with vital details from the godlike man who made all the script and file changes and knows what they do. It's just terribly un-organised in a forum thread and needs to be sorted out.

So, if anyone's interested in helping, please PM me. I'm just going to start at the beginning and search these thread pages for anything related to Arroyo, and making notes as I search for anything related to Klamath.

Once an updated walkthrough takes shape with all the new areas added, it will be hosted somewhere and a new "Restoration Walkthrough" thread will be started. Then it will become perfect as people post in, "No, that's wrong. First you need to do this..." or "There is another way..."

That's my idea anyway...
